Abstract

Abstract

Every human being has a certain way in communication. One of them is to communicate using another language to facilitate the listener to understand the message that is delivered. Code mixing is a phenomenon that often occurs in bilingual conversation, one of the examples of code mixing phenomenon can be found in sports program, especially in a football match program on television. This study is intended to determine and to explain the types and forms of code mixing that is often used by the presenters in presenting a program. The result of this study shows that the form of code mixing that is often used is the word insertion of outer code mixing, that is a mixing of a language with a foreign language because the football terms in English are more popular than the football terms in Indonesian.

Abstract

Ketika terjadi perubahan konstelasi politik nasional yang ditandai olehberakhirnya rezim pemerintah Orde Baru, maka di Papua pun terjadi dinamika politiklokal yang signifikan. Pemerintah pusat kemudian memberikan Otonomi Khusus sebagaisebuah kompromi politik atas tuntutan gerakan Papua Merdeka.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the badu tradition as an effort to preserve local natural resources reasonably and becomes a system of equitable distribution of natural resources for the poor. This research uses ethnographic methods by identifying the structure of indigenous peoples that allows the application of the badu tradition from generation to generation. The results show two important things. First, the badu tradition is a traditional ecological knowledge of Watodiri, which contains rules and prohibitions in maintaining the balance of the marine ecosystem locally. This tradition supported by the belief that the sea has a spirit that needs to be maintained so that the sea can provide a life for the community. Second, the badu tradition shows the altruism of the Watodiri people through sharing the catch of those in need, such as widows and orphans. Badu is a food sharing system for the poor. Widows and orphans get a place and share in the celebration of the badu tradition. Widows and orphans have a special place in the social structure of Watodiri, so that; their lives are the responsibility of all Watodiri people.

Abstract

This article explores the question of why and how ‘illegal’ artisanal mining in the oil-rich region of Indonesia remains in place despite official bans by the central government. By taking a qualitative ethnographic study on the practice in Sumur Baru, Dusun Tue, a village in South Sumatra Province, our inquiry takes seriously the formation of resilient labor in daily encounters with state institutions. We employ a governmentality approach and show how quotidian interactions between state and community has legitimized practices of artisanal mining. Sites become relatively governable in conditions of continuous displacement through ongoing negotiations between intermediaries (Toke) with state agencies. This practice is made possible by the use of Sen Minyak or oil money that binds Toke as key representatives of the community with police and state apparatuses as disciplinary representatives of the governmental state. This study thus shows how an extractive regime emerges, shifts, and reshapes in the local political economic contexts of Indonesia’s decentralization era.

Abstract

This study is entitled “The Uses of Religious Simbols to Represent Islam (A Study on Religious Soap Opera ‘Bukan Islam KTP’)”. The background of the research is based on the facts of the arbitrary use of symbols in representing Islam which are shown on Indonesian televisions. The pattern of the use of religious symbols, either verbal or non-verbal, symbols are generally explicit, but when they are examined using appropriate methods, they actually contains some implicit meanings. The purpose of this study was to discover how Islam is represented on television religious soap pera using religious symbols and to fid out the dominant ideology behind the representation techniques. To analyze the soap operas which consisted of twenty episodes, the researcher used a semiotic approach of John Fiske on television codes. The results of this study are: (1) the use of verbal symbols to represent Islam potentially creates multiple interpretations when they are spoken by different characters, (2) some religious terminologies are often used by antagonist players to express anger and disappointment, (3) the soap opera is dominated by verbal violence used by both protagonist and antagonist players, while antagonist player use violence both in verbal and non-verbal forms. The fidings about ideology embedded in the soap opera are: (1) capitalist-materialistic ideology, (2) ideology of patriarchy, and (3) violence domination.

Abstract

Digital transformation is forcing global MSMEs to adopt technology, especially digital marketing. However, not all MSMEs are taking full advantage of it. In Indonesia, limited resources and low marketing skills challenge the growth of MSMEs. Digital marketing and market capability proved to influence performance, while rebranding became an important strategy. Digital marketing, through media such as the web and Instagram, has proven to be significant for MSME growth. The Bojongmanggu Women Farmers Group which has a programme in the cultivation and processing of sorghum plants into high economic value and healthy consumer products. The focus of this activity is the creation of a web profile, one of which contains a digital catalogue. In addition, facing the increasing intensity of competition through digital platforms, MSMEs are expected to expand their awareness in utilising Instagram as an effective tool to promote products. Although social media is effective, its management requires adequate time and understanding. Academic involvement in community service is key to accelerating the mastery of digital marketing concepts by MSMEs, supporting the sustainable growth of the sector.

Abstract

One effort that can be made to improve soil fertility is by providing rich and petroganic powders. This research aims to determine the growth response of pakcoy plants to a combination of wood dust and petrorganic fertilizer treatments. This research was carried out from April to July 2023 in Sumber Rejeki Village, Merauke. This research used a randomized block design. The variables observed were plant height, number of leaves, leaf length, leaf width, and wet weight. The results of the research showed that the combination of sawdust and petroganic treatments had a different effect on each variable of pakcoy plant growth. The highest treatment on the plant height variable was obtained in the treatment without rich powder + 1 t.ha-1 petroganic fertilizer, the number of leaves in the sawdust treatment was 20 t.ha-1 + 3 t.ha-1 petroganic fertilizer, the leaf length was found in the treatment without wood dust + petroganic fertilizer 1 t.ha-1, leaf width was found in the treatment without sawdust + petroganic fertilizer 1 t.ha-1 and wet weight was found in the wood powder treatment 10 t.ha-1 + petroganic fertilizer 3 t.ha-1.

Abstract

As data size continues to grow, there has been a revolution in computational methods and statistics to process and analyze data into insight and knowledge. This change in the paradigm of analytical data from explicit to implicit raises the way to extract knowledge from data through a prospective approach to determine the value of new observations based on the structure of the relationship between input and output. Data preparation is a very important stage in predictive analytics. To run quality analytical data, data with good quality is needed in accordance with the criteria. Data quality plays an important role in strategic decision making and planning before the digital computer era. The main challenge faced is that raw data cannot be directly used for analysis. One problem that arises related to data quality is completeness. Missing data is one that often causes data to become incomplete. As a result, predictive analysis generated from these data becomes inaccurate. In this paper we will discuss the problems related to the quality of data in predictive analytics through a literature study from related research. In addition, challenges and directions that might occur in the predictive analytics domain with problems related to data quality will be presented.
