Abstract

Critical thinking skills must be trained in learning. Indications in the field of this ability have not been implemented optimally. The research was conducted to describe the profile of critical thinking skills through the implementation of flipped classrooms for high school students. This type of research used is quantitative research. The research used a quasi-experimental research design. Data collection was obtained using test techniques. The test is used to measure critical thinking skills according to critical thinking indicators, namely FRISCO. Data were analyzed by means of percentage correction and Ancova. The score profile of students' critical thinking skills before treatment in the experimental class obtained an average of 38.30 (low) while in the control class obtained an average of 36.53 (low). After implementing the flipped classroom, the ability to think in the experimental class obtained an average of 86.00 (very high), while in the control class it was 60.29 (moderate) with a significance value of 0.00. Based on this analysis, it can be concluded that the profile of students' critical thinking skills can be trained and improved through the implementation of flipped classroom learning.

Abstract

The Depati Karo Jayo Tuo Customary Forest, located within the Merangin Geopark, is a conservation forest that contains various plant species, including rattan. However, specific data on rattan species in this area are unavailable. This study aims to inventory and categorize the rattan species in the forest. Data collection was carried out by exploring the forest's trekking path. Rattan samples were collected using the quadrat plot method. The identification results revealed the presence of seven rattan species in the Depati Karo Jayo Tuo Customary Forest, namely Calamus micracanthus Griff., Calamus javensis Blume, Calamus oblongus Reinw. ex Blume, Calamus manan Miq., Calamus castaneus Griff., Calamus sp., and Korthalsia laciniosa (Griff.) Mart. Among these, Calamus oblongus Reinw. ex Blume was the most abundant species, with 1,050 individuals, while Calamus castaneus Griff. was the least abundant, with only 14 individuals recorded. According to the IUCN conservation status, all identified rattan species are classified as "Not Evaluated." Similarly, rattan is not listed as a protected species based on Indonesian Government Regulation No. 7 of 1999. Additionally, data from CITES indicate that rattan is not involved in international trade

Abstract

The problem is that the use of ethnoscience as a learning resource has not been optimized, so local traditions have not been scientifically reconstructed. In addition, the limited availability of contextual STEM assessment tools leaves teachers without clear guidance, making physics instruction less challenging. The objectives of this study are (a) to analyze physics concepts within the Mandi Kasai tradition, (b) to map the relationships between these concepts within the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) framework, and (c) to develop context-based learning assessments relevant to local culture. The method used was qualitative research with an ethnographic approach, involving observation, interviews with 3 physics teachers, 3 traditional leaders, and 4 community members who practice the tradition, as well as documentation and a literature review. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results of the study indicate that the mandi kasai tradition integrates various physics concepts such as heat, heat transfer, changes in the state of matter, and fluids. The resulting assessment is valid based on expert validation. A recommendation for future research is to develop an ethnoscience-based physics module.
