Abstract

Developing a strong understanding of scientific concepts is critical for elementary school students as it forms the foundation for advanced learning and problem-solving skills. However, traditional teaching methods often fail to engage students effectively, leading to superficial understanding and low retention of science concepts. The use of teaching aids has been identified as a potential strategy to address this issue by making abstract concepts more tangible and interactive. This study aims to investigate the relationship between the use of teaching aids and the understanding of science concepts among elementary school students. A correlational research design was employed, involving 120 fifth-grade students from multiple schools. Data were collected using a science concept understanding test and an observation checklist to measure the extent and effectiveness of teaching aid usage. The results revealed a significant positive correlation between the use of teaching aids and students’ understanding of science concepts. Students exposed to teaching aids demonstrated higher levels of engagement, comprehension, and retention compared to those who received traditional instruction. These findings emphasize the importance of integrating teaching aids into science lessons to enhance learning outcomes. The study concludes by recommending the widespread use of teaching aids to support effective science education in elementary schools.

Abstract

Through activities in the Student Shop Cooperation Section of the Modern Islamic Boarding School Student Organization (OPPM) of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Putri 1, this study seeks to examine how female students develop independent character. This study employs a descriptive design and a qualitative methodology. Participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation studies were used to gather data from research subjects, which included administrators, Cooperation advisers, and student shop Cooperation members. Throughout the phases of data condensation, data display, conclusion drawing, and verification, data analysis was done interactively. The study's findings show that an organized student management pattern, which includes organizing, planning, carrying out, and assessing Cooperation activities, helps female students develop independent character. The development of emotional, financial, intellectual, and social independence is facilitated by female students' participation in Cooperation management. The Islamic boarding school's student shop Cooperation serves as both an economic entity and a vehicle for character education grounded in ongoing habituation and real-world experiences. According to the study's findings, integrating student management with Cooperation learning activities is a successful tactic for helping female students develop independent personalities. The results of this study are anticipated to have both practical consequences for the administration of student organizations centered on character formation and theoretical contributions to the advancement of character education studies in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

The flagship tahfidz program at MI Labs Ri’ayatul Ummah Jakarta implements the 3T+1M method (talaqqi, tikrar, tafahhum, and muraja’ah) in daily Al-Qur’an memorization activities; however, its implementation still faces various dynamics, such as differences in students’ memorization abilities, limited instructional time, and the need to strengthen the consistency of muraja’ah outside the madrasah environment. This study aims to describe the application of the 3T+1M method, analyze its effectiveness and efficiency, and identify the challenges and opportunities within the flagship tahfidz program at MI Labs Ri’ayatul Ummah Jakarta. A qualitative descriptive case study approach was employed, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the head of the madrasah, tahfidz teachers, the program coordinator, and students. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive analysis technique, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the 3T+1M method is implemented systematically through structured stages integrated into the daily tahfidz routine and has proven effective and efficient in improving the quality of students’ Al-Qur’an memorization, as reflected in accurate recitation, increased fluency, basic understanding of verse meanings, and stable retention of previously memorized passages. Nevertheless, challenges remain in the form of heterogeneous student abilities, limited instructional time, and inconsistent muraja’ah at home. The study concludes that the flagship tahfidz program based on the 3T+1M method has strong potential for sustainable development with the support of competent teachers, a religious learning environment, and active parental involvement, and is expected to serve as a reference for the development of tahfidz learning methods oriented toward process quality and the sustainability of learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research investigates the implementation of the Integration of Direct Instruction Methods and Independent Learning Curriculum in the Teacher Training and Development Program (TTDP) at Darussalam Gontor University. The study employs a case study method to delve into the understanding of the execution, strengths, weaknesses, challenges, and opportunities within this integration. Findings reveal that TTDP at Darussalam Gontor University follows a three-step process: planning, execution, and evaluation. The execution involves the delivery of basic TTDP content, practical activities, and evaluation through tests and learning observations. The strengths of this integration lie in the enhancement of teaching quality, enabling trainee teachers to design more engaging learning experiences. However, challenges surface in the form of initial resistance to a shift in teaching paradigms and the need for institutional support. Opportunities exist in developing the professionalism of aspiring teachers and creating dynamic teaching materials. This research provides in-depth insights into the TTDP implementation, highlighting both positive changes and obstacles that need to be addressed. It contributes to understanding how the integration of direct instruction methods and independent learning curriculum can improve teacher training within this university context.
