Abstract

Background: Sleep quality is essential for maintaining physical and mental health. Nurses often face challenges in achieving good sleep quality due to demanding work schedules, high physical activity levels, and irregular shifts, which can lead to poor sleep and reduced overall well-being.Objective: To examine the relationship between physical activity levels and sleep quality among nurses at Bhayangkara Pontianak Hospital. Methods: This study employed a quantitative cross-sectional design. A total of 73 nurses were included using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) to assess sleep quality and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) to measure physical activity levels. The data were analyzed using Spearman Rank correlation. Results: The findings showed a weak negative correlation between physical activity and sleep quality, indicating that higher physical activity levels were associated with poorer sleep quality. Nurses with high physical activity levels and night shift schedules were more likely to experience sleep disturbances. External factors such as environmental conditions and work-related stress also contributed to sleep quality issues. Conclusion: Physical activity has a significant impact on sleep quality among nurses. High physical activity levels, coupled with demanding workloads and irregular shifts, can impair sleep quality. It is recommended that institutions implement strategies to balance physical activity and rest, improve work schedules, and provide support systems to enhance nurses"™ well-being.

Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by dengue virus and transmitted through the bite of female Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. The disease is endemic in tropical and some subtropical regions, becoming a serious health problem especially in developing countries, including Indonesia. DHF can trigger Extraordinary Events (KLB) and cause death. Information seeking is a community effort to gain knowledge about diseases, treatments, and health hazards, which helps them make informed health decisions. This study aimed to describe the community's need for information about the prevention and treatment of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) at the Sepauk Health Center. This study was a quantitative study that used descriptive research methods. The sampling technique in this study was accidental sampling. The number of respondents was 89 people using a questionnaire research instrument for information needs related to dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). The results showed that the majority of respondents were aged 15-24 years (36.0%), female (64.0%), high school graduates (48.3%), housewives (33.7%), and had no history of DHF (71.9%). A total of 97.8% of respondents needed information about DHF, especially on how to prevent DHF at home. The most frequently used and desired source of information was health workers at health care facilities, while the most common barrier to obtaining information was lack of understanding of medical terms. People need information about DHF related to how to prevent DHF at home and the best approach for treatment. However, there are barriers to information due to lack of understanding of medical terms. This information is useful to support the DHF awareness campaign.

Abstract

Introduction: family support can affect the quality of life of hemodialysis patients. With family support in providing motivation, CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis have a stimulus to improve their quality of life. This study aims to analyze the relationship between family support and the quality of life of chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis at Hospital in Pontianak.   Methods: This study is quantitative in nature, using a correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was taken using the total sampling technique with a total of 74 respondents. Data collection was conducted using the Family Support and Quality of Life questionnaire. (KDQOL-SF TM 1.3). Statistical tests used the Spearman rank correlation test.   Results: The univariate analysis showed that most respondents were aged 46-65 years (56.8%) and were female (52.7%). Almost all respondents were married (90.5%) and had a high school education (40.5%), with the fewest respondents having a college education, totaling 12 people (16.2%), and the majority being unemployed (62.2%). Most respondents had good family support and a moderate quality of life (52.7%). The result of the Spearman correlation test between family support and quality of life among hemodialysis patients showed a correlation coefficient of rho = −0.016 with a p-value of 0.839 (p > 0.05). This finding indicates a very weak negative correlation and statistically non-significant relationship between family support and patients’ quality of life. Therefore, family support was not significantly associated with the quality of life of hemodialysis patients in this study.   Conclusion: In this study, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between family support and the quality of life of chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis at RSU Yarsi Pontianak.

Abstract

Background: Thalassemia is a genetic blood disorder characterized by a deficiency of globin chains in hemoglobin. One of the main problems in patients with thalassemia is non-adherence to iron chelation therapy. As a lifelong chronic disease, thalassemia requires continuous treatment, including iron chelation therapy, which functions to remove excess iron accumulation in the body due to routine blood transfusions through feces and urine. Adherence to this therapy plays an important role in improving the quality of life of patients. Objective: To determine the relationship between adherence to iron chelation therapy and quality of life in children with thalassemia at RSUD dr. Slamet Garut. Methods: This study used a descriptive analytic design with a quantitative approach and a correlation study design. The sample consisted of 96 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected to assess adherence to iron chelation therapy and the quality of life of respondents. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis to determine the relationship between variables. Results: The results showed that almost all respondents (95.8%) were not adherent to iron chelation therapy, and the majority of respondents (92.7%) had a poor quality of life. Statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between adherence to iron chelation therapy and quality of life in children with thalassemia, with a p-value of 0.01 (p < 0.05). Conclusion: There is a relationship between adherence to iron chelation therapy and the quality of life in children with thalassemia.
