Abstract

Baro Village, Setia Bakti District, Aceh Jaya Regency has eco-tourism potential for mangrove forests, which actually play a role in reducing unemployment and poverty and aiming to be environmentally friendly. However, a fundamental problem in almost all nature-based tourism in the region is related to the absence of a brand destination. As a result, tourist destinations are empty of visitors, which ultimately affects Pokdarwis' income as a manager of mangrove tourism. The method of implementing community service is through Participatory Action Research (PAR), which is participatory-based and emphasizes the process of sharing and learning together so that it can help Dikti personnel understand the conditions and problems of partners, namely Baro Village, Setia Bakti District, Aceh Jaya Regency in the use of media. This service was ultimately able to encourage the use of social media for the Baro Village Pokdarwis through increasing the Pokdarwis' ability to create digital content in the form of websites, videos, and posters of digital tourism products; the formation of SOPs for branding mangrove forest tourism destinations; preparing a schedule for digital mangrove forest competitions and festivals, and establishing networking and collaboration with the government, private sector, and digital media actors.

Abstract

The potential of adolescents in education has a huge influence on the development of a better social life, especially in the order of interaction in their daily lives. However, the problem of education equality is still a trigger for high levels of youth unemployment, including one of them in Gampong Suak Bilie. Different reasons for the problem of dropping out of school can be directed by empowering teenagers who drop out of school, this is due to the habits of teenagers who spend more time playing. The method of implementing youth empowerment is through socialization and mentoring adolescents who drop out of school. The results of this service found that adolescents in Gampong Suak Bilie have the potential to develop their interests, but the lack of resources and motivation that support to develop the potential of adolescents results in not accommodating the interests of adolescents.

Abstract

The rise of illegal logging practices requires the government to be more serious in tackling this problem with policies as an effort to control illegal logging without permits. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of illegal logging policies in West Aceh District using the structuring problem approach and to find out the causes and efforts made. The method used is a case study approach, data collection techniques using triangulation. The results of the study traced if the main causes of illegal logging in terms of structuring the problem of inappropriate program policies designed by the government included supervision, socialization, and policies for providing assistance to community. Judging from the ROCCIPI theory, indicates that forest utilization policies have not been focused on the economic conditions of th ecommunity so that it opens up gaps for individuals who carry out illegal logging, lack of solid communication between stakeholders, and capacity problems (lack of organizing resources). Therefore, it is necessary to provide alternative regulatory solutions that take into account the community’s economic ,streng then communication between stakeholders, and approach the community so that they do not carry out forest destruction followed by the right alternative solutions offered to the community.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of the fertiliser subsidy program in Aceh Province and its implications for farmer welfare. Although the program seeks to alleviate poverty by reducing production costs and increasing crop yields, the program has yet to yield the expected results. This study employed a qualitative case study approach to analyse the policy's implementation and challenges, focusing on Aceh's unique historical and social context. The study findings reveal that the effectiveness of the policy is hampered by some issues related to resource allocation, communication, administrative governance, and organisational structure. These constraints have prevented the policy from significantly improving the welfare of rice farmers. The study concludes that, although the fertiliser subsidy program has potential, it has not substantially reduced poverty among farmers in Aceh. A significant limitation of this study is its inability to fully assess the potential for increasing government capacity to support farmers due to differences in perceptions and preferences among government actors. This study highlights the need for a more integrated and responsive policy framework to address the unique challenges faced by the agricultural sector in Aceh

Abstract

This study explores innovative public policy strategies to break the cycle of disability-related poverty in Indonesia through a comprehensive literature review. The analysis reveals that barriers to education, employment, health services, and social protection, exacerbated by discrimination and stigma, are structural and mutually reinforcing poverty and exclusion. Grounded in the social model of disability and the capability approach, the study emphasizes that poverty is not merely a result of impairment but systemic obstacles limiting individual agency and opportunity. It highlights the role of Law Number 8 of 2016 as a foundational legal framework while stressing the need for consistent implementation, cross-sectoral coordination, and active participation of persons with disabilities in policymaking. Promising approaches include inclusive governance, accessible infrastructure, skills development programs, and stigma reduction initiatives. The study contributes theoretically by reinforcing the view that disability inclusion is a matter of rights and a strategic imperative for sustainable development and social justice. Embedding inclusive values into the core of public policy is key to reducing inequality and ensuring no one is left behind in Indonesia’s development.

Abstract

- This study investigates the political dynamics of population control in West Aceh Regency and their influence on local poverty reduction efforts. Using a qualitative case study approach in the Johan Pahlawan and Meureubo sub-districts, the research collected primary data through in-depth interviews with 24 purposively selected informants—including health officials, family planning cadres, community leaders, and couples of reproductive age—alongside field observations and document analysis. Thematic content analysis was employed to identify patterns related to service access, actor influence, and community engagement. Theoretically, the study draws on structural poverty theory, responsive public policy theory, local political theory, and program effectiveness theory. Findings indicate that high levels of education, access to information, and community-based cadre strategies contribute to strong program participation in urban areas. In contrast, semi-rural regions face compounded barriers due to weak infrastructure, policy fragmentation, and cultural opposition. Local politics critically shape program outcomes; actors such as religious leaders and village elites mediate acceptance through moral and ideological framing. Additionally, the lack of male involvement undermines the program’s transformative potential. The study concludes that population control should not be treated as a standalone administrative effort but must be embedded within a decentralized, inclusive welfare policy tailored to local realities. Policy implications include the need for cross-sectoral program integration, culturally sensitive outreach, male-targeted reproductive education, and flexible budgeting frameworks that allow sub-district-level policy adaptation. These measures are essential to position family planning as a viable instrument for equitable poverty reduction in West Aceh.

Abstract

Political literacy refers to the ability of individuals to understand political systems, processes, and information to actively participate in political decision-making. For first-time voters, political literacy is crucial as it forms the foundation for making rational choices, particularly in the 2024 regional elections (Pilkada). This community engagement initiative aims to enhance the level of political literacy among first-time voters through socialization, political literacy education, and comprehension tests covering four key indicators: understanding the political system, knowledge of the Pilkada process, critical evaluation of political information, and participation in Pilkada. The study employed a Google Form-based questionnaire distributed to 40 respondents from 11th and 12th-grade students in both science (IPA) and social sciences (IPS) streams. The analysis results revealed that the average comprehension level of respondents ranged between 70% and 85%, with minor variations across indicators and groups. Respondents demonstrated strong understanding in the "Knowledge of the Pilkada Process" indicator but showed the need for improvement in "Critical Evaluation of Political Information." These findings underscore the importance of strengthening political literacy, particularly in combating misinformation that becomes prevalent ahead of elections. By improving political literacy, first-time voters are expected to become agents of change who promote healthier democracy through active and critical political participation.

Abstract

This Study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the ACTORS theory based partnership model in economic empowerment in maritime villages in Nagan Raya Regency. The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach through in depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and data validation using source triangulation and member check. The results showed that the confidence & competence and authority indicators obtained the lowest scores (2 out of 5 each), indicating low confidence, technical skills, and limited village authority in program implementation. In contrast, the responsibility indicator received the highest score (4 out of 5), which is due to the implementation of a digital financial governance system (siskeudes) that can improve accountability. These findings indicate the need to increase human resource capacity and strengthen local institutions to optimize the blue economy concept in a sustainable manner in coastal areas.
