Abstract

Agriculture is one of the sectors having largest contribution to the economy of Lampung Province. Most of the population categorized in to work forces, are engaged in agricultural sector as a main livelihood. In general, the rate of job opportunity growth is unbalance as compared to the work force growth. Although the job opportunity ofagricultural sector from year to year decreases compared to the job opportunity increases of non-agricultural and industrial sector.  But from economic sector points of view, the employment’s structure in agriculture, in average, is higher than the other economic sectors. Although in the employment’s structure it is higher than the other economic sectors, but the contribution of agricultural sector decreases each years 0.32 percent. This condition is inversely with non-agricultural and industrial sector that are strengthened respectively 0.4 percent and 0.59 percent from year to year. The tendency of economic structural transformation, gives an overview whether the transformation is consistent with region’s potention. Productivity of the agriculture work force is left far behind the productivity of industrial sector and service’s work forcesector. It the trendcan be seen from the comparation of agriculture’s wage rate, it showed an increase but it still lower than the industrial sector. Agricultural labor’s proportion indicates a decreasing trend in each year. This phenomenon has an inverse relation to the non agricultural and industrial labor’s proportions that has increased from year to year. This mean, there is structural transformation of labor of agriculture sector to non-agriculture sector. By using econometric model, it can be identified significant factors influencing to the job opportunity and the influencing factors to the labor structural transformation from agriculture to non agriculture sectorKeywords: Agricultural, labor, job opportunity, transformation, industrial

Abstract

A merging of Jakarta and Bandung metropolitans influence the development of the areas around them. Consequently, people are migrating to the cities caused an increasing population. It leads to experiencing uncontrolled advancement and arising problems. One of them is the raising land demand for settlement development, but the land is limited. Therefore, there is a need to address these particularities. This research aimed to model suitable and available land for settlement development in Cianjur Regency. Multi-criteria evaluation (MCE) and geographical information system (GIS) were collaborated to define the suitability criteria. The analytical hierarchy process (AHP) was employed to set the criteria's weight. Spatial Plan and LP2B were carried out as limiting factors. The result showed that the most crucial consideration came from the disaster. The suitability classes in Cianjur regency are: highly suitable 36%, Suitable 7%, Marginally suitable 44%, and Not suitable 14%. 85% of land in 2018 was available for settlement. Yet it is decreasing becomes 2% in 2030. Therefore, the potential land for settlement development is The different perspectives among developers, academics, and government in determining the most critical criteria for land suitability plays a crucial role in the next Cianjur’s settlement development planning. The implementation of the Spatial Plan can minimize environmental problems such as land conversion. In addition, regarding the new regulation on LP2B, the Spatial Plan has to be updated to synchronize the plan between Spatial Plan and LP2B.

Abstract

Rapid land cover changes, primarily driven by urbanization and deforestation, present critical sustainability challenges for rural landscapes, especially in developing regions such as Cianjur Regency, West Java. These transitions threaten ecological integrity, disrupt water resource systems, and compromise biodiversity, ultimately impacting land productivity and sustainable development goals. This research adopts an integrated spatial analysis framework to quantify land cover transitions and assess their impacts on local sustainability through a multi-dimensional Local Sustainability Index (LSI). The study evaluates economic, social, and environmental sustainability at the village level by utilizing overlay analysis, Local Indicators of Spatial Autocorrelation (LISA), and clustering techniques. Findings indicate a pronounced shift, with rice fields reduced by approximately 29,212.6 ha over a decade (2011-2021), while dry agricultural and residential lands expanded by 43,428.5 ha and 4,889.7 ha, respectively. LSI analysis reveals a decline in high-category environmental sustainability, contrasted by an increase in social and economic LSI scores. Southern development area (WP) exhibits high environmental sustainability, while northern development area (WP) has high social welfare and economic growth (Cianjur, Cipanas, dan Pacet Sub-District). Spatial clustering results highlight four distinct village typologies: urban village (Cluster One), developing village (Cluster Two), good environmental village (Cluster Three), and underdeveloped village (Cluster Four).
