Abstract

Postoperative wound care in children is a crucial aspect of the healing process and infection prevention. Lack of parental knowledge and skillsin wound care can increase the risk of surgical site infection (SSI) and delay recovery. Therefore, this community service program aims toimprove parental skills in caring for postoperative wounds in children through a home care approach. The method used in this program includes counseling, training, and mentoring conducted in Betung Induk, Abab District, Pali Regency. Evaluation was carried out by comparing participants' pre-test and post-test results and observing practical skills. The evaluation results showed an increase in participants' understanding from 42.8% in the pre-test to 85.7% in the post-test, as well as an improvement in wound care skills up to 78.6%. Although there were limitations in training time and the number of medical assistants, this program successfully enhanced parents' skills in postoperative wound care. In the future, this program can be developed through digital-based education and online mentoring to expand its reach and increase the effectiveness of health education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ difficulties in division operations and their impact on the mathematics learning outcomes of sixth-grade students at SDN 19 Ampenan. This research employed a qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that students experience various difficulties in understanding the concept of division, both as the inverse of multiplication and as repeated subtraction. In addition, students face challenges in determining quotients, following the procedures of long division, and solving word problems. These difficulties are influenced by students’ weak mastery of basic arithmetic operations, particularly multiplication and subtraction. The impact of these difficulties is reflected in the low mathematics learning outcomes, as indicated by the large number of students who have not achieved the Minimum Mastery Criteria. The average student score is 48, which is still below the established minimum standard of 75.

Abstract

Adolescent girls are a vulnerable group to reproductive health issues, particularly a lack of knowledge about menstrual care and dysmenorrhea, which can disrupt daily activities. This community service activity aims to improve adolescent girls' knowledge and skills in maintaining reproductive health and implementing non-pharmacological methods to reduce menstrual pain. The program involved 30 participants through participatory health education and demonstrations of dysmenorrhea exercises at MTs Bustanul Ulum, Pekanbaru City. Evaluation was conducted using pre- and post-tests. Results showed a significant increase in knowledge scores from 83.33 to 98.33, as well as improved ability to perform the exercises correctly. Most participants also reported reduced pain and greater relaxation. This activity effectively increased reproductive health literacy and introduced safe alternatives for managing menstrual pain.

Abstract

Purpose-Laboratories play a crucial role in supporting science learning in senior high schools by facilitating practical activities that enhance students’ scientific skills, critical thinking, and conceptual understanding. This study aims to describe the management of a biology laboratory at SMA Negeri 7 Bengkulu Utara and to identify challenges encountered in its implementation. Design/methods/approach-This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with biology teachers and the head of the biology laboratory. The data were analyzed based on management functions, including planning, organizing, implementation, supervision, and evaluation. Findings-The findings indicate that biology laboratory management has been implemented in accordance with basic management functions. However, its implementation has not been optimal. Planning and practical activities are constrained by limited laboratory equipment, materials, budget allocation, availability of laboratory personnel, and restricted instructional time. In addition, laboratory evaluation has not been conducted systematically or supported by standardized assessment instruments. Research implications/limitations-This study is limited to a single school context and relies solely on interview data, which may affect the generalizability of the findings. Nevertheless, the results provide practical insights for schools and education stakeholders to improve biology laboratory management, particularly in optimizing existing resources and strengthening systematic evaluation practices.
