Abstract

The Women’s Sterilization Method (MOW) is one of the most effective and efficient contraceptive methods to reduce birth rates or end pregnancies. This method offers optimal benefits with minimal side effects. Several factors may influence the choice of MOW contraception, including age, parity, education level, knowledge, attitude, husband’s support, healthcare workers’ support, and accessibility of services. This study aimed to determine the factors influencing the choice of MOW contraception among women of reproductive age at Lewoleba Public Health Center, Nubatukan District, Lembata Regency. This was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. Sampling was conducted using proportional random sampling, involving 66 respondents. Data were analyzed using the chi-square statistical test. The results showed a significant relationship between knowledge (p = 0.000), attitude (p = 0.000), husband’s support (p = 0.004), healthcare workers’ support (p = 0.000), and number of children (p = 0.000) and the selection of MOW. It is recommended that the Lewoleba Health Center continues to provide comprehensive and consistent education to enhance community understanding regarding long-term and permanent contraceptive methods.

Data on hypertension cases in Kupang City were high in the period January - December 2023 recorded as many as 19,363 people suffering from hypertension, making hypertension one of the diseases with a fairly high number of cases in Kupang City. Data from the Community Health Center (Puskesmas) shows that Alak Community Health Center had the highest number of hypertension cases in Kupang City, namely 4,742 people throughout 2023. The purpose of this study was to analyze factors related to hypertension patient compliance with medication adherence in the Alak Community Health Center working area, Kupang City. This study involved 58 patients selected through accidental sampling. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The study results showed a relationship between compliance and patient knowledge (p = 0.011), family support (p = 0.013), and motivation to seek treatment (p = 0.002). Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that remains a major public health concern in Indonesia. This study focuses on the perceptions of mothers of toddlers regarding the definition, causes, and prevention of stunting. This study aims to determine the perceptions of mothers of toddlers regarding stunting, its causes, and its prevention in the Oele Community Health Center Work Area, Rote Ndao Regency. This research method uses a qualitative design with a phenomenological approach. Informants were selected using purposive sampling. The main informants were mothers of toddlers, key informants were nutrition program holders, and supporting informants were integrated health post (Posyandu) cadres. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman (1984) model in (Sugiyono, 2010).The results of this study indicate that all mothers of toddlers understand stunting as a condition of shortness of breath due to malnutrition and that stunting is caused by genetic factors. The most frequently cited causes of stunting are inadequate nutritional intake, suboptimal parenting, and environmental hygiene. Preventive measures include exclusive breastfeeding, immunization, nutritious food, and maintaining good hygiene, although economic constraints and misperceptions about heredity remain. In conclusion, mothers of toddlers understand stunting as a condition of short stature due to malnutrition, although some mothers still attribute it to hereditary factors. According to mothers, the main causes of stunting are low nutritional intake, difficulty eating, and suboptimal parenting. Mothers also believe that stunting is caused by hereditary factors. Preventive measures include exclusive breastfeeding, immunization, and nutritious food. The main obstacle to prevention is economic constraints.
