Abstract

Container ports are one of the investment attractions, the busier the port, the more investment there will be and vice versa, but the success of a port is determined by good service. Environmentally friendly human resources of container ports determine performance improvement. This study uses a qualitative approach method, environmentally based human resources. the data collected is interpreted to produce a deeper understanding of the phenomena observed in the field. The data will then be constructed into themes that have significant meaning. The results of the study found a new concept of Maximize Green Hrd Port which was tested on the management of a container port in Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines how employee capabilities and technology-mediated channels shape well-being in hierarchical hotel contexts marked by coercive leadership. Drawing on Approach–Avoidance Motivation and Diffusion of Innovation, we theorize a resource-and-channels model in which (a) Exapro-a capability bundle combining professional experience and proactive personality-enhances employee well-being, and (b) electronic diffusion of innovation (e-DOI) strengthens the welfare returns to Exapro by providing safer, auditable pathways for idea sharing when face-to-face voice is risky. We test the model using a three-wave longitudinal design across 26 three- to five-star hotels in Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta (Indonesia) with N = 100 employees concentrated in frontline, rotating-shift roles. Using PLS-SEM (SmartPLS 4), measurement properties met recommended thresholds. Results show that the direct effect of despotic leadership on well-being is not significant (H1 rejected) once resources and channels are modeled. By contrast, despotic leadership positively predicts Exapro (H2 supported), Exapro positively predicts well-being (H3 supported), and e-DOI positively moderates the Exapro → well-being link (H4 supported). The model explains a moderate share of variance in well-being (R² ≈ .52). The findings reframe leader–well-being debates by demonstrating a suppressed/contingent direct effect of despotism and highlighting that what employees can do (Exapro) and how they can safely make it visible (e-DOI) are pivotal for sustaining well-being. Practically, hotels should build experience-based scripts, select/develop for proactivity, and institutionalize digital codification of micro-innovations while strengthening leadership accountability.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of higher education has reshaped workforce qualification structures in many countries, yet concerns persist regarding skills mismatch and uneven labor market outcomes. This study examines the implications of imbalances between higher education, vocational education, and lifelong learning for workforce composition and employment outcomes. Using secondary data and comparative evidence from prior empirical studies, this analysis documents substantial growth in higher education attainment while limited expansion of intermediate vocational skills. Results indicate that while higher education graduates generally experience favorable employment outcomes, vocational graduates with strong work-based training demonstrate competitive and sometimes superior long-term trajectories. Participation in adult education and training has increased but remains uneven across age groups and skill levels. Evidence on apprenticeship reforms suggests a shift toward higher-level qualifications and younger participants, accompanied by overall declines in participation. These findings underscore the structural nature of skills mismatch and the limitations of education systems that prioritize academic pathways without providing adequate support for vocational and continuing training. The study contributes to the literature by integrating evidence across education pathways and emphasizing the need for balanced policy approaches to skill formation, workforce adaptability, and inclusive labor market development.

Abstract

Ship fires pose a high risk to crew safety, necessitating increased emergency fire drill competency. This study analyzes crew preparedness and skill enhancement strategies during emergency fire drills on board the MV Pacific Bulk. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, a purposive sampling of 25 crew members involved key officers (Chief Officer, Officer on Duty, Bosun and A/B) was conducted through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation analysis. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model: data reduction, presentation, and verification through triangulation. Results showed good procedural compliance, a 5-minute alarm response, full equipment readiness, and effective coordination during the galley fire simulation. Routine drills, safety meetings, and familiarization of new crew members proved successful, although scenario variations need to be improved. In conclusion, the MV Pacific Bulk has solid emergency preparedness in accordance with SOLAS standards, with various drill scenarios recommended for optimal crew competency.
