Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Moringa leaf meal (Moringa oleifera) in feed on production performance and egg quality of laying hens. The materials used 120 laying hens of Isa Brown breed in 38 to 42 weeks age. The method used an experimental trial by Moringa oleifera addition in the basal feed. The experiment were devided into four groups i.e. without Moringa oleifera as control (P0), with Moringa oleifera 0.5% (P1), 1% (P2), 1.5% (P3) and 2% (P4). Variables observed were the appearance of egg production and quality. The data was analyzed by Completely Randomized one way design. The mean differences were calculated by the Duncan Multiple Range Test. The results showed that administration of Moringa leaf powder can increase the production and quality of eggs in laying hens. Addition of 2% Moringa leaf powder in the feed gives the best effect on the appearance and quality of production and egg. This research suggested the addition of 2% Moringa leaf powder was recommended in order to obtain the finest appearance and quality of production.

Abstract

The study was aimed to investigate the effects of some kinds of commercial feed on quantitative and qualitative production performance of broiler chicken include feed intake, weight gain, feed conversion ratio, mortality, index of production (IP), income over feed cost (IOFC), percentage of carcasses, deposition of breast meat, meat cholesterol, and antibiotic residues. This study used 200 unsexed day old broiler chick which were allocated in Completely Randomized Design and analyzed using one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The birds were fed some of the commercial diets produced by PT. P, PT. M, PT. C, or PT. W from 35 days rearing period. Analysis in the laboratory revealed that different commercial diets did not contain different chemical composition, including: dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, ether extract, gross energy, calcium, phosphorus and antibiotic residues. Different commercial broiler feeds did not affect feed consumption, but affect (P<0.05) body weight gain, carcass percentage, income over feed cost, and high significantly affect (P<0.01) feed conversion, breast meat deposition, production index, and cholesterol deposition. Oxytetracycline  residues in chicken meat from all treatment diets were <30 ppb. Effect of some kinds of commercial feed showed different results on feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, carcass percentage, breast  meat  deposition,  production index,  and  IOFC, meat cholesterol and antibiotic residue. However, feed from PT. M showed better results, as it gave production index and IOFC values than that of other commercial feeds.

Abstract

The research was aimed to evaluate the effects of substitution level of corn with palm kernel meal (PKM) untreated and palm kernel meal (PKM) treated by enzyme on production performance and carcass quality of broilers. The method used in this research was experiment using nested of completely randomized design with 2 factors, the main factor was type of palm kernel meal factors consisting of PKM without enzyme (B1) and PKM by mannanase enzyme (B2), and substitution corn level L0 (without substitution), L1 (12.5%), L2 (25%), L3 (37.5%) and L4 (50%). The different among the treatments were tested by Duncan’s multiple range test. The results showed that corn substitution with PKM untreated and PKM treated by enzymes was significantly effect (P<0.01) on feed conversion ratio (FCR), tenderness, meat cholesterol of broilers and income over feed cost (IOFC) and significant effect (P<0.05) on feed intake, but there is no significant difference on body weight, percentages of abdominal fat and water holding capacity (WHC). Furthermore, effect of level corn substitition with PKM nested to PKM untreated and PKM treated by enzyme was significantly effect (P<0.01) on feed intake, body weight, FCR, and tenderness and significant effect (P<0.05) on IOFC, but there is no effect on percentages of abdominal fat, WHC and meat cholesterol. It can be concluded that the corn substitution with PKM treated by enzymes was better than the PKM untreated on production performance and carcass quality of broilers. The optimal level of PKM untreated as corn substitution was 12.5%. While replacement with PKM treated by enzyme can be used up to 25%.

Abstract

The research purpose was to carry out the effect of mannan-riched fraction (MRF) and probiotic enhanced water as natural growth promoters (NGPs) on Growth Performance, mortality, relative organ weight, blood biochemistry, and intestinal microbial flora. A total of 3000 day old chicks (DOC) Arbor Acres broiler were randomly allocated to 4 dietary treatments and 4 replications of 187 broilers per cage. Four treatments used in research were as follows: i) CON, basal diet, ii) basal diet, CON+ MRF (Actigen™) 80g/100kg/feed , iii) basal diet, CON+ 0.2% drinking water + 2 ml/L Combination feed additive (Acid-Pak 4-way®), and iv) ) basal diet, CON+ MRF (Actigen™) 80g/100kg/feed+ drinking water 2 ml/L Combination feed additive (AcidPak 4-way®). The results showed that using mannan riched fraction (MRF) (feed) and combination with probiotic-enhanced liquid acidifier (drinking water) presented significant difference (P>0.05) on body weight gain at 1-28 days and intestinal microbial. On the blood biochemistry, the effect of combination began to reduce the amount of glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT) and glutamic pyruvic transaminase (GPT) at 21 days periods. To sum up, the addition of mannan-riched fraction and combination with probiotic enhanced liquid acidifier doesn’t impacted on growth Growth Performance, blood biochemistry, relative organ weight but give significant effect on intestinal microbial and reduces mortality of broiler.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of organik protein in feed on the quality of abdominal fat and internal organs in broilers. The material used 500 broilers. Levels of organik protein in feed P0 (0% organik protein); P1 (1.5% organik protein); P2 (3.0% organik protein); P3 (4.5% organik protein) and P4 (6.0% organik protein). The variables measured were abdominal fat and internal organs weight of broiler (heart, liver, gizzard, pancreas and spleen). The data were analyzed by using ANOVA and if it shoes significant different among treatment continued by using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. The result showed that the treatment gave no significant effect (P>0.05) on abdominal fat and weight of heart, liver and spleen. The use of organik protein in feed can reduce `abdominal fat and improve the performance of internal organs such as the gizzard, liver, spleen, pancreas and heart of broilers
