Abstract

ABSTRACT‘Cempedak’ and durian seeds flour are the kind of seeds that are less utilized as a product of the food industry. ‘Cempedak’ and durian seeds flour can be processed into various food product which can give contribute nutrient for schoolchildren. One of the product is fish meatball. This study aims to determine organoleptic and nutritional of modified fish meatball with ‘cempedak’ and durian seed’s flour.This experimental design was completely randomized design with of two factors are ‘cempedak’ and durian seeds flour with composition of 35%:5%, 30%:10% and 25%:15%. Organoleptic test of modified fish meatball was given to thirthy panelist of students of state elementary school 064985 grade VI and then, nutrient analyzed was tested in laboratory of industrial research and standarization Agency Medan. Analyzed was done descriptively.The results showed that organoleptic test of modified fish meatball with ‘cempedak’and durian seeds flour was generally preferred. Of the third fates ,it turns out fish meatball modified comparison 30%: 10% get the highest point and contain protein for the highest.In making fish meatball, it was recommended if the comparison between ‘cempedak’ and durian seeds flour are 30% and 10%. It is need to give information and socialization about ‘cempedak’and durian seeds flour and durian so that can be made, received and used to be additional food of students.Keyword: fish meatball. cempedak seeds flour, durian seeds flour, organoleptic test, elemantary school.

Abstract

The elderly is seen as a group of people who are at risk of experiencing health problems with physical deterioration and often have problems in terms of eating. In fact, although the activity decreases with age, they still require a complete nutrient intake.  This study aims to determine the relationship of age, disease status, lifestyle, intake of energy and protein intake and nutritional status of the elderly in Aek Habil Health Center Sibolga. The study was a descriptive survey study with cross-sectional design. The population is elderly aged 55 years and older as 607 people. Determination of the sample using a sample size formula Isgianto (2009) obtained a sample of 83 people. Data collection age, disease status, lifestyle, intake of energy and protein intake using a questionnaire and a food recall form. While the nutritional status data obtained from anthropometric measurements.Univariate test results of research showed that 38.6% of elderly are in the age ≥ 65 years category. 60.2% of elderly disease status was not classified as either. Lifestyle elderly 67.5% classified as not good. Elderly energy intake 92.8% classified as deficit, as well as protein intake was 71.1% classified deficit. Nutritional status of the elderly 60.2% classified as normal. Bivariate test results showed that there was a significant association between illness status of the last 3 months, as well as the lifestyle of protein intake and nutritional status of elderly (p <0.05). While the data age, and energy intake did not show any significant relationship with nutritional status (p> 0.05). It is recommended to the Department of Health Sibolga to create policies to improve nutrition-related counseling of the elderly. Aek Habil Health Center Sibolga in order to provide knowledge and raise awareness about the importance of the elderly run lifestyle, healthy nutrition, to realize a good nutritional status of the elderly, increasing life expectancy, health care and elderly posyandu capable of being upgraded. Abstract

Drug addicts are generally prone to nutritional problems. Nutritional problems experienced by drug addicts due to a decrease in appetite during the period when the influence of drugs and drug withdrawal. Low food intake and takes place in a relatively long period of time will cause a drug addict nutrient deficiency resulted in a decrease in nutritional status. This study aims to determine the pattern of food consumption and nutritional status of drug addicts in Panti Sosial Pamardi Putra Insyaf. This study used a cross sectional design. The study population are drug addicts undergoing rehabilitation in PSPP Insyaf. Samples taken as many as 71 people with purposive sampling technique. Data was collected through interviews using questionnaires, forms of food records, a food frequency form and the form of food history. Drug addicts undergoing rehabilitation in PSPP Insyaf mostly aged 16-19 (57.7%) and undergo the most rehab for 5 months (38%). Frequency of drug addicts eat 3x / day with white rice consumed every day. For side dishes consumed 1-5x / week. Consumption of vegetables 1-5x / week. Unlike the long beans were consumed ≤2x / month. Fruits like banana, papaya, watermelon and cucumber consumed with 1-5x frequency / week. Energy consumption drug addicts mostly in the medium category (54.5%). Consumption of protein drug addicts mostly in the category of either 94.4%). Nutritional status of drug addicts in the vast majority is in the normal category (83.1%). Based on these results it is suggested to head the kitchen PSPP Insyaf more unwelcome attention of food or foods that cause allergies that are not often included in the diet or by replacing it with other foods. The energy consumption should be increased in order to meet the needs of drug addicts should be. There needs to be a nutritionist to set up the necessary nutritional needs of drug addicts. Abstract

Having consumption in vegetarian pattern is defined taking consumption pattern of meal and food resources of vegetable only. Accordingly, a kid having less protein energy is going to get retardation in growth, susceptible on illness, noted mainly resulted in poorly condition in intelligence. The objective of this study is to determine the differences of the consumption pattern, nutrition status and study performance of kids with vegetarian and non vegetarian at Yayasan Perguruan Buddhis Bodhicitta-Institute of Medan for 2014. This study adopted a descriptive survey method with cross sectional approach. The research dealt with the condition differenced in consumption pattern, nutrition status and performance in study of those kids with vegetarian and non-vegetarian, provided them questionnaire involved 86 respondents that took them all in simple randomly. The result of study indicated that those kids in vegetarian in totally 52 kids (60.4%) and non-vegetarian of total 34 kids (39.6%). The distribution of age as respondent mostly noted in 11 years old about 37 kids (43.0%), the education rate of parent of respondent noted mostly having graduated SMA namely 30 kids (34.9%), their profession as parent of kid noted in private noted 50 people (58.1%), their consumption rate in energy noted in category of moderate namely about 32 kids (37.2%), consumption rate in protein noted of category moderate about 31 kids ((36.0%). TB/U of respondent mostly noted is category in normal of 48 kids (55.85), IMT of respondent mostly noted is category in normal of 23 kids (26.7%). Their performance as respondent mostly noted in category of less some 50 kids (58.1%). It is suggestible to those parent of kid in their daily life got consumption pattern of vegetarian could taken their food for meal in vegetarian with highly protein, calcium, and contained sufficiently zinc so that the nutrition required for growth should be fulfilled and the kids got as required.   Keywords : consumption pattern, nutrition status, study performance, vegetarian.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Parenting parents has significant impact on the life of children in the future. One of the growth inhibitory effect of parenting which is not oriented to the development of childern. It usually occurs in under five years old. The objective of the study was to describe the parenting and nutritional status of five under years old in smokers families in Berastagi District in 2014. This research was a descriptive cross-sectional design. Data was collected by inter views and questionnaires to 100 respondents with five  under year old in the region of sub-district healath centers Berastagi in March-June 2014. The results showed that the majority of mother who have five under year old in smoker families were with good parenting category, which consisted of 64% feeding practices, hygiene practices and environmental sanitation 64%, and the care of children and families in sickness 67%. The results of measurements of weight/height according to the WHO 2005 standards were in the category off at 1%, 3% risk of fat, 73% normal, 17% lean, and very skinny 6%. The results of measurements of nutritional knowledge a were in either category that was equal to71%, and the knowledge of smoking were in the good category at 68%. Counseling  is required on food, nutrition and health to mothers who have  five under years old in smoker families so that knowledge, parenting and a good level of consumption can be further improved and will ultimately improve the nutritional status of children. Abstract

ABSTRACT Children under five years means the grow than development of rapid and highly important and as a foundation that determines the quality of the success orgeneration of the nation. Ages 0-24 months is a period of rapid growth and development, and often termed as the golden period and at the same time ascritical period. Golden period can be realized if at this time infants and children receive appropriate nutrition for optimal growth and development. The objective of this study was to describe the pattern of growth of children under  five in families of smokers and non smokers in Berastagi district Karo regency. This  research was a descriptive cross sectional design. Data was collected by interviews and questionnaires to help 158 respondents with children under five in the region of sub-district health centers Berastagi in March - June 2014. The results showed that, based on health status (ARI) in  children  under five which suffered the most number of ARI were the family that 57%  of smokers and non-smokers in the family 43%. Growth of children under five based on weight forage, children under five malnutrition 84.2% of smokers in the family, good nutrition 54.3% innon-smokers and families over 100% under weight children in the family non smokers. Growth of infants based on height for age, very short 100%  on a family of smokers, 64.4% short was in the family of smokers and 58.9% of normal height in the family non smokers. Growth in weight for toddler height, very skinny 89% is in the family of smokers, 73% thin nerth ere on a family of smokers, 56% of normal non-smokers there are in the family and 64% obese non-smokers in the family. It is expected to provide input to the clinic to increase public knowledge through education about the dangers of cigarette smoke which give seffect to the growth of infants to increase the awareness of parents, families and communities. It is expected that all members of the family and the community, especially the head of the family to not smoke in the house, even there searcher is hoping that the head of the family can stop the habit of smoking for the health of them selves and their family members, especially baby under five. Abstract

Fish is a source of animal protein that has the advantage is high content of essential fatty acid to help the formation of brain cells in improving the academic achievement of school-age children. In 2013, the average fish consumption rate of the population of Indonesia is still at 35,14 kgs/capita/year. This study aims to determine the relationship of fish consumption with learning achievement in elementary school children of Brigjend Katamso II with a cross-sectional study design and was conducted in November 2013 - August 2014. The study population was all elementary students and samples were taken 68 students with proportional stratified random sampling. Primary data is the identity of respondents, fish consumption, weight and height of children. Secondary data is a general overview of the school and students grades monthly during the second semester of school year 2013/2014. The results showed that the type of fish consumed are marine fish and dairy (48,5%). Sufficient amount of fish consumption (69,1%) with an average of 12,6 g/day. The frequency of fish consumption occasionally (39,7 %) with an average of 4,55 times/week. Learning achievement is very good (57,4%) with an average of 82,67. There is a significant relationship between the amount of fish consumption and learning achievement (p=0,036) and the frequency of fish consumption and learning achievement (p=0,012). Suggested children's fish consumption should be increased quantity and frequency. Learning achievement needs to be maintained. The school is expected to cooperate with the government and deliver nutritional information through the school bulletin. Keywords: Fish Consumption, Learning Achievement

Abstract

ABSTRACTIodine Definiency Disorders (IDD) is one of serious health problem for its influences to thesurvive and quality of human resources the risk of IDD to anyone is begin since in the pregnancy up tothe adult that cause cretin, abortion for pregnant woman, stillbirth, mental retardation, growthdisorder and intelligence disorder and the famous risk is goiter that influence the living quality ofpatient.The objective of this research is to study the behavior of housewife in using iodized salt inDesa Bangun I sub-district of Parbuluan, Regency of Dairi. This research is descriptive study withcross sectional method, and technique of sampling is done proportional allocation. The number ofpopulation in this research is 424 persons and sample for 81 persons.The result of research indicates that the knowledge of mother about the using of iodized salt isin good category for 61 persons (75,3%). The attitude of respondent also in good category for 39persons (48.1%). As well as the action in enough level for 57 persons (70,4%)Based on the result it is suggested that the housewife still use iodized salt and improve theusing of iodized salt in cooking process.Keywords : Behavior of housewife, Iodized salt, IDD

Abstract

Indonesia still faces major challenges in the field of nutrition, namely malnutrition and nutrition, nutritional status of primary school children is a picture of what is consumed in the long term. One problem that often occurs is the consumption of iron and zinc, so that the necessary attention in the consumption of foods and nutrients are school-age children. This study aims to describe the consumption of iron, zinc and nutritional status of primary school children in SDN No. 060813 Kelurahan Pasar Merah Barat Kecamatan Medan Kota. This type of research is a survey research using quantitative approach. Sampling was carried out with a total sampling method with a sample of 69 students. The type of data collected primary data, performed by using interviews, questionnaires 24 hour recall, food frequency and measurement of nutritional status (TB/U and IMT/U) and secondary data obtained diinstansi related, processing and analysis of data by using a computer program SPSS, Nutrisurvey and WHO antro plus 2007. The results showed that the consumption of iron in school children in SDN 060 813 Kelurahan Pasar Merah Barat Kecamatan Medan Kota largely on the category of less as many as 39 people (56.5%), consumption of zinc mostly in the category of less as many as 52 people (75 , 4%), nutritional status based on IMT/U mostly in the normal category as many as 57 people (82.6%), based on the nutritional status of TB/U mostly in the normal category as many as 44 people (63.8%) The results of this study may be a referral for students to consume a varied diet and nutrition, and to other researchers to further explore the different variables. Abstract

Anemia is one of the health problems that continue to be the government’s attention. Among the various types of anemia, anemia in adolescent girls is the biggest anemia  problem in society. This happenes because the girls undergo the process ef menstruation and a diet that causes a lack of nutrition. This research is descriptive survey that aim to know nutrition knowledge, diet, and anemia in SMP Negeri 2 Kotapinang South Labuhan Batu district. The population in this study were students of class seventh, eight, nineth in SMP Negeri 2 Kotapinang many as 567 people. The sample was selected a part of the population of 88 people. Collecting data using the nutrition knowledge questionnaire. Data form the diet using food frequency and 24-hours food recall. The research resultshowed that nutrition knowledge of students is good enough showed by 52,3%. The students didn’t consume staple food, fishes, vegetable, and fruit everyday showed by consume frequency is 71,6% is seldom. Anemia in student of SMP Negeri 2 Kotapinang is high showed by 71,4% anemia. Based on the research, results, expected the importance of improving information for student of SMP Negeri 2 Kotapinang about the importance of consume foods the certain mani Fe, vitamin and mineral as source of food which is able to prevent anemia needed menu cycle so that the food more regular by frequency, type and amount side.
