Abstract

This study examines the role of entrepreneurial character in shaping the economic empowerment of mentees participating in productive zakat programs. While many empowerment initiatives focus primarily on financial assistance, recent development literature emphasizes the importance of behavioral transformation in achieving sustainable economic outcomes. This research aims to empirically test whether entrepreneurial character functions as a key mechanism linking economic assistance to empowerment within the context of Islamic social finance. The study employs a quantitative explanatory design using cross-sectional survey data collected from 365 mentees participating in productive zakat programs administered by the National Zakat Agency of Indonesia (BAZNAS). Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine the relationship between entrepreneurial character and economic empowerment. The results reveal a strong and statistically significant positive effect of entrepreneurial character on economic empowerment (β = 0.763, p < 0.001). The model demonstrates substantial explanatory power (R² = 0.582) and strong predictive relevance, indicating that behavioral attributes such as persistence, opportunity orientation, and proactive action play a crucial role in sustaining economic independence among beneficiaries. These findings reinforce the behavioral empowerment perspective, suggesting that empowerment outcomes depend not only on access to capital but also on the development of internal capacities. The study contributes to the integration of entrepreneurship theory and Islamic social finance by demonstrating that productive zakat programs can serve as institutional mechanisms to cultivate entrepreneurial agency among beneficiaries. Practically, the findings highlight the importance of mentoring and character development in designing effective zakat-based empowerment programs.

The research sample was 10 companies with 50 observation data in the food and beverage sub-sector listed on the IDX. The analysis method used is quantitative method with test analysis using eviews10 with multiple linear regression panel data with the best model Fixed Effect Model (FEM). Based on the partial test results (t test), it shows that EPS has a significant effect on Stock Returns, the CR variable has no effect on Stock Returns and the Exchange Rate variable has no effect on Stock Returns. The test results simultaneously show that Earning Per Share, Current Ratio, and Exchange Rate have a significant effect on Stock Returns. From this study, profitability information is considered important by companies because this information can be a signal for investors in making transactions and the company's profitability will reflect the company's stock return

Abstract

The This study aims to develop an integrated model of Sukuk-Linked Waqf to optimize unproductive waqf assets in Indonesia. Despite the vast potential of waqf assets, their utilization remains suboptimal due to limited managerial capacity, lack of innovation, and weak governance. This research adopts a qualitative approach combined  with the Analytical Network Process (ANP) to identify key determinants influencing the effectiveness of waqf management. The results show that the consistency ratio (CR) values across stakeholders—Badan Wakaf Indonesia (0.08), Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (0.07), Dewan Syariah Nasional Majelis Ulama Indonesia (0.06), Bank Syariah Indonesia (0.09), investors (0.08), and practitioners (0.07)—are all below the acceptable threshold of 0.10, indicating reliable and consistent judgments. In terms of priority criteria, transparency (0.26) and regulatory support (0.22) are identified as the most influential factors, followed by public trust (0.20), institutional efficiency (0.18), and socialization or financial literacy (0.14). The study proposes an Integrated Sukuk–Waqf Synergy Model (ISWSM) as an innovative solution that integrates Islamic social finance and capital market instruments through a digital platform. The proposed model enables sustainable financing by combining philanthropic and commercial funds through a blended finance approach. This research contributes theoretically by enriching Islamic social finance literature and practically by offering an implementable model for stakeholders. It also provides policy implications for strengthening governance and developing innovative financing mechanisms to support sustainable socio-economic development.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how capital expenditure (X1) and employee expenditure (X2) influence the education index of regencies/municipalities (Y2) through employment absorption (Z1) and poverty (Z2) during the period 2002–2024. The method applied is multiple linear regression using the selected Random Effects Model (REM), with data analysis conducted through Eviews 8.0 Series to process panel data. The results of the t-test show that among the examined variables (capital expenditure (X1), employee expenditure (X2), employment (Z1), and poverty (Z2)), only capital expenditure (X1) does not have a significant effect on the education index of regencies/municipalities in Jambi Province (Y2) during 2002–2024, with a significance level of 5%. The other three variables—employee expenditure (X2), employment (Z1), and poverty (Z2)—were found to have a significant impact on the education index within the same period, at the 5% significance level. The Adjusted R-Squared value of 0.799658 (lower than the fixed effect model’s 0.900323) indicates a high R-Squared value of 0.803492. The F-statistic probability of 0.000000 further confirms the model’s overall significance, although the Durbin-Watson statistic of 0.242935, which falls below 2, suggests potential autocorrelation issues.

Abstract

Productive zakat programs in Indonesia continue to encounter structural challenges in achieving sustainable mustahik empowerment, as many initiatives remain focused on short-term capital distribution rather than long-term capacity building. This study aims to examine how facilitator empowerment and catalytic roles influence mustahik empowerment by positioning entrepreneurial character as a mediating variable. A quantitative explanatory design was employed using survey data collected from mustahik participating in productive zakat programs, which were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess both direct and indirect relationships among constructs. The findings indicate that facilitator empowerment and catalytic roles significantly enhance the entrepreneurial character of mustahik; however, their direct effects on empowerment outcomes are not statistically significant. Instead, entrepreneurial character emerges as the dominant factor and fully mediates the relationship between facilitation processes and empowerment outcomes. These results highlight that sustainable empowerment is primarily driven by internal transformation reflected in entrepreneurial attitudes and behaviors. In conclusion, zakat-based empowerment strategies should shift from output-oriented approaches toward strengthening entrepreneurial character through structured mentoring and catalytic facilitation, thereby promoting long-term economic self-reliance among mustahik.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the direct effect of Islamic financial literacy on women’s economic roles and its indirect effect, mediated by technological innovation, among millennial women micro-entrepreneurs in Bandar Lampung. Method: This study employs a quantitative approach using survey data collected from women micro-entrepreneurs. A total of 130 questionnaires were initially collected across Lampung Province, with 65 valid samples selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM).  Result: The findings reveal that Islamic financial literacy has a positive and significant effect on technological innovation (β = 0.691, p < 0.001), while technological innovation has a strong positive effect on women’s economic roles (β = 0.703, p < 0.001). Islamic financial literacy also directly influences women’s economic roles (β = 0.211, p = 0.021), although the effect size is smaller. Additionally, technological innovation significantly mediates this relationship (indirect effect = 0.486, p < 0.001), with the model demonstrating strong explanatory power (R² = 0.745).  Implication: These findings suggest that policymakers and MSME development institutions should integrate Islamic financial literacy programs with digital capacity-building initiatives.  Originality or Novelty: This study highlights the mediating role of technological innovation in linking Islamic financial literacy to women’s economic roles, providing empirical evidence from millennial women micro-entrepreneurs in a developing regional context
