Abstract

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) is one of the primary vegetable commodities with many benefits. Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) contain carbohydrates, sugars, fatty acids, proteins, and other minerals needed by the human body. So that at certain times, shallots experience price fluctuations in the form of price increases when demand is higher than supply, and shallot prices decline when the supply is higher than demand. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the demand for shallots to determine the elasticity of demand for shallots in the city of Surakarta with the factors that influence it. The primary method used is descriptive-analytical. The method of determining the location used is a purposive method defined intentionally, namely in Surakarta. The data used is secondary data using time series data from 2000-2019. The multiple linear regression analysis results show that the price of garlic, the price of red chili, the population, and income per capita individually significantly affect the demand for shallots in Surakarta. Price elasticity in this study could not be determined. Cross elasticity shows that red goods are substituted with garlic and red chili in Surakarta City. The income elasticity value is positive or more than zero and less than one, indicating that shallots are included in the normal goods and necessities category.

Abstract

Abstract

The success of the farming system supports the development of Indonesian agribusiness. One of the determinants of the success of farming is the managerial ability of farmers in making decisions. The managerial ability of farmers is shown by one of the abilities in carrying out farming records. However, based on the conditions in the field, it shows that the majority of farmers do not have the knowledge and ability. The purpose of this community service activity is to carry out farm recording training to improve the managerial ability. This community service activity was carried out in Gudangharjo Village, Paranggupito District. Participants in this activity were representatives of farmer groups with a total of 25 participants. The activity began with a pre-test, then socialization and training, and ended with an evaluation through a post-test. The results of this community service activity have proven to be able to improve the managerial ability of farmers. This can be seen from the results of the evaluation related to farmers' awareness of the function of recording farming businesses by (87%) and farmers' willingness to implement recording as an important (74%). Furthermore, the farmers have increased understanding after participating in the training, as indicated by an increase in indicators related to the importance of recording costs in farming (68%), increased knowledge in distinguishing between fixed and variable costs (58%), and understanding the ability to read farming records (45%). So that the results of the farming recording training can help improve the managerial abilities of farmers.

Abstract

Understanding the socio-economic factors influencing tobacco farm laborers’ income is essential for improving their financial stability and productivity. Many farm workers face economic uncertainty due to low education levels, limited experience, and fluctuating wages. Existing studies often overlook the combined impact of these factors, creating a research gap in labor income dynamics. This study aims to analyze how education, experience, age, and family size affect farm laborers' earnings. A quantitative descriptive method was employed, using surveys, interviews, and multiple linear regression analysis on respondents from Kagokan and Klaseman villages, Gatak District. The findings reveal that education and experience positively impact income, while age negatively influences earnings due to declining physical ability. Family size shows no significant effect. These results highlight the need for policy interventions such as vocational training, wage restructuring, and education access for farm laborers. Policymakers should implement sustainable programs to bridge economic disparities and enhance workforce efficiency. Future research should explore the role of agricultural technology adoption and gender-based income disparities, offering deeper insights into labor market dynamics.

Abstract

The human resource investment focused in this study is on education and training to improve the competence and skills of farm workers. Human resource investment, especially in green education and green skills, is very important to improve the productivity of tobacco farm workers. This study aims to identify problems related to human resource (HR) investment in tobacco farm workers and formulate change strategies to improve their productivity. This study uses a mixed method, namely qualitative, quantitative, and descriptive. The results of the study showed that the results of direct observation in the field found several problems, namely: 1) Farm workers are not experts in the application of environmentally friendly technology 2) Farm workers are unable to use biopesticides 3) Farm workers are unable to choose varieties of plants that are resistant to pests 4) There is no change in the behavior of farm workers in implementing green technology . Based on these findings, this study proposes a change strategy that includes: 1) Using DBHCHT to access training environmentally friendly technology 2) Using DBHCHT to participate in biopesticide training 3) Using DBHCHT to improve experience in using varieties 4) DBHCHT is used to improve self-motivation. The implementation of this strategy is expected to improve the competence, skills, and productivity of tobacco farm workers.

Abstract

The research aims to analyze the factors of corn price, corn demand, and the elasticity of corn demand in Boyolali Regency. The basic method used in this research is analytical-descriptive. The selection of the research location was purposive, with Boyolali Regency chosen as the location due to the consistent increase in corn demand. The results of the data analysis using multiple linear regression reveal the equation Ln Qd = -367.983 - 0.191 Ln X1 + 0.541 Ln X2 + 0.875 Ln X3 - 0.729 Ln X4 + 27.253 Ln X5 + e. This model has an R?² value of 21.9%, indicating that 21.9% of the corn demand in Boyolali Regency cannot be explained by the variables of corn price, rice price, soybean price, per capita income, and population, while the remaining 78.1% is explained by other variables not studied. Based on the F-test, the combined effect of corn price, rice price, soybean price, per capita income, and population on corn demand in Boyolali Regency is not significant. The t-test for individual variables also indicates that corn price, rice price, soybean price, per capita income, and population have no significant effect on corn demand in Boyolali Regency at both 99% and 95% confidence levels. The coefficient of price elasticity is -0.191, indicating inelasticity as it is less than one. Rice price has a positive cross-elasticity value of 0.541, signifying that rice is a substitute good for corn. Soybean price has a positive cross-elasticity value of 0.875, also acting as a substitute for corn. The coefficient of income elasticity is -0.729, indicating that corn is an inferior good due to its negative sign.
