Abstract

The implementation of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) in schools, specifically the habit of Handwashing with Soap (CTPS), is still not optimal. At SDN 040/IV Jambi City, CTPS indicators were not met due to limited facilities and a lack of students' knowledge and attitudes. This low understanding increases the risk of infectious diseases such as diarrhea and ARI. Audiovisual-based health education was chosen for its effectiveness in combining sound and visual elements attractive to school-age children. This study aims to determine the effect of audiovisual-based health education on CTPS knowledge and attitudes among students at SDN 040/IV Jambi City.

Abstract

Underweight in toddlers remains a nutritional problem in Indonesia, including in the working area of Tanjung Pinang Public Health Center, Jambi City. One factor affecting toddlers’ nutritional status is dietary patterns influenced by parents’ knowledge regarding toddler feeding practices. The use of TikTok social media as a health education platform has considerable potential to improve parents’ knowledge and behavior related to toddler feeding. This study aimed to determine the effect of TikTok-based toddler feeding education on toddlers’ dietary patterns in the working area of Tanjung Pinang Public Health Center. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 57 respondents selected using purposive sampling technique. The intervention group received educational videos through TikTok, while the control group received leaflet media. Dietary patterns were measured using the 24-Hour Food Recall instrument before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using Paired Sample t-test and Independent Sample t-test. The results showed an improvement in toddlers’ dietary patterns in the intervention group, indicated by increased intake of calories, protein, fat, and carbohydrates after the educational intervention. TikTok-based education had an effect on toddlers’ dietary patterns and can be utilized as an effective health education medium for parents.

Abstract

Anemia remains a significant public health problem, especially among women of reproductive age (WRA), as it affects maternal and infant health and increases the risk of pregnancy complications. The prevalence of anemia among WRA in Indonesia is still relatively high. Objective: This study aimed to describe the severity of anemia and its risk factors among WRA in Indonesia in 2023. This study used a descriptive quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design based on secondary data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI). The population included all WRA (15–49 years) in the biomedical sample. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis to obtain frequency and percentage distributions. Anemia among WRA was still observed with varying levels of severity. Most respondents were aged 20–35 years, had completed senior high school, were unemployed, had parity <2, no history of abortion or infectious disease, were not chronically energy deficient, had good access to health services, and were in the upper-middle socioeconomic group. Conclusion: Anemia among WRA in Indonesia remains a concern, requiring targeted prevention and intervention efforts.
