Abstract

A research aimed to evaluate nutrients digestibility in growing local male pig fed spontaneous bioconverted-tamarind seed has been done in animal feed technology laboratory of Kupang State Agricultural Polytechnic. The research used 25 local male grower pigs with body weight around 3-6 kg. The study used a randomized block design with five treatments, i.e. R0 = ration using tamarind seeds without bioconversion, R1 = ration using spontaneous bioconversion tamarinds for 24 hours, R2 = rations using spontaneous bioconversion tamarinds for 48 hours, R3 = rations using bioconversion tamarinds spontaneous for 72 hours, and R4 = rations using spontaneous bioconversion tamarinds for 96 hours. Each treatment was repeated five times in which each of them used five pigs. Parameters observed were nutrient digestibility (dry matter, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, and ash). The data were analyzed by using variance and continued by Duncan’s multiple range test to determine the differences between treatments. The results showed that the time of spontaneous bioconversion of tamarind seeds increased the digestibility of tamarind seed nutrients and it was concluded that the best time of spontaneous bioconversion was for 72 hours.

Abstract

AbstractThe maintenance of pigs is entrenched for the people of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) especially the Sehati farmer group Tuatuka Village, Kupang Tengah District, Kupang Regency with the main activities being food crop cultivation - horticulture, as well as pig livestock side businesses. However, due to limited knowledge of livestock rising, pig breeds are not superior breeds, as well as individualized maintenance patterns so that the quality of livestock is low and less developed. Therefore optimization is done by raising fattening pigs using the partnership method. The aim of the activity is to increase the community's knowledge and skills and increase the growth of fattening pigs with a partnership pattern. The method of activity is a participatory approach including counseling, training, demonstration plots, and mentoring. The results of the activity were an increase in community knowledge and skills, an increase in the growth of pigs (body weight gain of 0.18 kg / day to 0.36 kg / day with shorter maintenance times i.e. 12 months to 5 months), as well as increasingly social relations familiar. In conclusion, optimizing the maintenance of fattening pigs with a partnership system can improve partners' knowledge and skills, produce performance of pigs with PBB 0.36 kg / day with maintenance time reaching a selling weight (60 kg) for 5 months, as well as closer social relations of partners. It is recommended that maintenance of fattening pigs for the partnership system be adopted by the local government and carried out by other breeders. Keywords: Superior Pork; Promitra; Feed.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to evaluation growth respon, morbiditas, and the best of feed formulation which use market organic waste. The research was designed using Block (Randomly) Design with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were T0: Ration without usage of market organic waste; T1, T2, and T3, and T4: usage of 25, 50, 75, and 100% of market organic waste  respectively. The result revealed that the treatments did not significantly affect  (P>0,05) daily gain but significantly affect (P<0,01) to dry matter intake so the mount swine morbiditas if consuming young white mustard vegetable waste 100% at treatment of T3 and of T4 and 0% at treatment of T0,T1, and T2. It can be concluded that the best feed formulation which the best of the growth, low morbiditas is T2 with using 50% market organic waste and 50% complete feed. It is suggested that usage of market organic waste in feed of pig livestock shall not exceed 50% and avoid usage of white mustard vegetable waste which still young in order not to happened diarrhoea. Keywords: Performance of production; swine; market organic waste

Abstract

The research aimed to evaluate the potential production of Arbila (Phaseolus lunatus L.) seed at different level of rizobium inoculants. This research has been conducted in Kupang State Agricultural Polytechnic during 4 months. The research was using randomized block design (RBD) having 5 treatments and 4 replications (20 units). The treatments were I1:  without inoculant, I2 :  10 g rizobium inoculant /kg seed, I3 : 20 g rizobium inoculant /kg seed, I4 : 30 g rizobium inoculant /kg seed, dan I5 : 40 g rizobium inoculant /kg seed. The observed variables were fresh seed production (ton/ha), dry weight seed production (ton/ha), weight of 100 seeds (g), and dry matter seed production (ton/ha). Data were analysed using variance analysis and continued with Duncan test. The result showed that the performance of Arbila seed were influenced by inoculant level. Increasing in inoculant level caused increasing in production of arbila seed. The higher seed production was the seed having 40 g rizobium inoculant /kg. The production were 3.62 tons of fresh seed/ha,  3.41 tons of dry seed/ha, 33.83 g per 100 seeds, 3.25 tons of DM /ha. This production was actually not different with seed having 30 g rizobium inoculant /kg seed.  The production were 2.57 tons of fresh seed/ha, 2.53 tons of dry seed/ha, 32.18 g per 100 seeds, and 2.42 tons of DM /ha. In conclusion, treatments with 40 g or 30 g of rizobium inoculant per kg seed were the best level for Arbila plant to produce higher seed. Key Words : Legume Arbila (Phaseolus lunatus L), Rizobium Inoculant, seed production, feed plant.
