Abstract

The decline in global marine fisheries production has sparked concerns about depletion of fish resources. The innovation developed is the use of fish apartments to increase productivity and conserve fish resources. Fish apartment is useful as fishing media, replacement habitat for damaged coral reefs, nursery ground and feeding ground for fish habitat ecology. Fish apartment can also be an indicator of changes in trophic levels in the food chain in aquatic ecosystems. This research explores the benefits of fish apartment for increasing productivity and conserving fish resources. Descriptive and exploratory research methods were carried out by combining literature and published research results. The benefits of fish apartment as an effort to increase the productivity of fish resources can be seen from the existence of waters that have the potential to become fishing areas which contribute to increasing fish stocks so that catches increase by 80% per year from 2013-2015. The fish apartment can restore damaged aquatic ecosystems because it increases the abundance of 39 types of fish species and improves the fish habitat for the 20 families of coral fish that occupy the fish apartment.

Abstract

Ornamental fish have their own charm due to the beauty of their shapes and color patterns. Ornamental fish have good sales prospects and have high economic value, so many ornamental fish hobbyists and breeders are involved in them. Cultivating ornamental fish is certainly not free from obstacles, such as ponds or aquariums that have been contaminated with microbes which can cause fish to get sick or even cause death. One way to maintain fish health while increasing ornamental fish production is to monitor water quality. Efforts that can be made to overcome the above problems are to apply a recirculating aquaculture system. This study aims to provide information on the use of an effective aquaculture recirculation system to increase ornamental fish production while reducing ornamental fish mortality rates. The information that will be provided is a study from several journals regarding circuits for recirculation systems and optimizing the use of filter combinations in recirculation systems.

Abstract

Pangandaran has high potential in the tourism and fisheries sectors. Marine resources that are open access and can be used by anyone cause the sustainability of resources to be threatened due to over-exploitation. Traditional fishermen are one of the livelihoods owned by the majority of coastal communities, especially in the Pangandaran Coastal area. However, fishing activities have not been carried out wisely, and become a threat to the sustainability of sustainable marine biota. Small fishermen get by-catch in the form of protected marine life and are included in the IUCN Red List and the CITES Appendix list. This research was conducted to find out the species of marine biota with important conservation status or included in the status of the IUCN red list and the CITES Appendix list caught and traded in the coastal areas of Pangandaran Regency. The research was conducted using field observation method with purposive sampling technique in 2 locations; the east coast and the west coast of Pangandaran. There are 47 fish species found in all research sites with conservation status not evaluated (12.8%), least concern (83.0%), near threatened (2.1%), vulnerable (2.1%), and included in CITES Appendix II (2.1%).

Abstract

Abstract

The increasing waste production in Indonesia, particularly plastic waste, poses significant environmental challenges. To address this issue, biodegradable films (biofilms) made from natural polymers like carrageenan and tapioca starch are being explored as eco-friendly alternatives for packaging materials. Carrageenan, a polysaccharide extracted from red algae, has potential as a biofilm due to its stability and gel-forming properties. However, it has poor water resistance and elasticity, which can be improved by adding plasticizers and carbohydrate fillers like tapioca starch. Tapioca starch enhances the flexibility and strength of biofilms, making them suitable for packaging applications. Thickness, tensile strength, elongation, tear resistance, surface morphology, soil degradation, functional group analysis, solubility, water absorption, water vapor transmission rate, color, and transparency are important in characteristics and quality.
