Abstract

Insecticides can be used to overcome pest attacks in agricultural and plantation sectors. The botanical insecticide is more widely used because more friendly to the environment than chemical insecticides. Neem is one of the plants that can be used as basic ingredient for botanical insecticides because it contains the compound azadirachtin. Insecticide enter the cultivation area because carried by flowing water. Tilapia is a fish that can be used as a bioindicator of pollution levels, water quality, and changes in the aquatic environment. This study aims to determine the effect of exposure insecticide with azadirachtin active ingredient on growth and survival rate of tilapia. This research was conducted in March and August for the preliminary test and September-October 2022 for the main test at Ciparanje Inland Aquaculture Hatchery, Padjadjaran University. The fish used in this study averaged 6,70 ± 0,014 cm. This study used experimental method, Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and three replications. The treatments used were exposure to insecticides with different doses, namely A(0 ppm), B(26.25 ppm), C(52.5 ppm), D(78.75 ppm), E(105 ppm). Parameters observed included absolute length growth and weight growth, survival rate, and water quality until 28th day. Growth and survival data analyzed using the F test and continued with Duncan's test at the 95% level of confidence. The results showed that exposure insecticide can inhibited growth and affected the survival of tilapia. Treatment C(52.5 ppm) is a safe concentration for the survival of tilapia and the highest growth is the treatment without addition of insecticide.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effect of exposure to plant-based insecticides containing active ingredients eugenol and azadirachtin on the survival and growth of common carp (Cyprinus carpio). The study was conducted from September to October 2022 at the Ciparanje Inland Fisheries Hatchery, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. The research method used was an experimental method, and the experimental design employed was a completely randomized design (CRD). The study included six treatments with three replications. The test fish used were Majalaya strain common carp fingerling, measuring 7-8 cm, obtained from the Cibiru Fish Seed Center in Bandung City. The treatments examined in this study were Treatment A (0 ppm), B (12.8 ppm), C (25.6 ppm), D (38.4 ppm), E (51.2 ppm), and F (64 ppm). The insecticides were administered once at the beginning of the research in the water, which served as the maintenance medium, according to the treatment concentrations. The parameters observed were survival rate, growth, and water quality. Observations were conducted for 28 days after the application of the plant-based insecticides. The highest percentage of survival was found in Treatment A (control) at 100%, while the lowest percentage of survival was observed in Treatment F (64 ppm) at 81.7%. The highest absolute length growth was recorded in Treatment A (control) at 2.73 cm, and the lowest absolute length growth was observed in Treatment F (64 ppm) at 1.97 cm. The highest weight growth was observed in Treatment A (control) at 4.2 g, and the lowest absolute weight growth was found in Treatment F (64 ppm) at 2.6 g. The research indicates that the growth and survival of common carp fingerling (Cyprinus carpio) decrease due to the influence of exposure to plant-based insecticides containing active ingredients eugenol and azadirachtin.

Abstract

 The mangrove ecosystem of Cemara Kulon Village has the potential for fishery resources which has decreased in line with various anthropogenic activities. This study aims to determine the composition of fish and analyze the status of the fish community structure and its relation to the physical-chemical aspects of the waters in the mangrove ecosystem of Cemara Kulon Village. This research was conducted over a period of three months  in the mangrove ecosystem of Cemara Kulon Village. The method used in this research was  descriptive quantitative purposive and composite sampling at 3 research stations. Parameters observed in this study were relative abundance, diversity, uniformity, dominance, and the relationship between community structure and aquatic physico-chemical parameters. During the study, 508 fish were caught, consisting of 20 species from 16 families. The value of diversity was in the moderate category with a ranged of 1.87-2.50; the uniformity value was in the moderate category with a ranged of 0.41-0.46 and the dominance value was in the low category with a ranged of 0.11-0.22.   Based on the results of the Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA) revealed that fish diversity was affected by light transparency and DO, the uniformity of fish was  affected by temperature, and the dominance of fish was affected by ammonia. The fish community structure was categorized as unstable which was influenced by water quality.

Abstract

Purse seine merupakan alat tangkap yang banyak digunakan oleh nelayan di Kabupaten Indramayu. Purse seine memiliki hasil tangkapan yang multi species sehingga memiliki tingkat selektivitas yang rendah. Hal ini dapat menjadi salah satu indikasi sumber daya perikanan tangkap di Pantai Utara Jawa berpotensi mengalami overfishing. Riset ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat selektivitas alat tangkap purse seine waring berdasarkan frekuensi ukuran panjang ikan, proporsi hasil tangkapan, indeks keanekaragaman, dan indeks dominansi alat tangkap purse seine waring di Pelabuhan Perikanan Pantai (PPP) Dadap Kabupaten Indramayu. Pelaksanaan riset dilakukan di PPP Dadap pada Bulan September – Oktober 2022. Metode riset yang digunakan yaitu metode survey dengan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil riset menunjukkan bahwa hasil tangkapan utama adalah jenis ikan teri (Stolephorus sp.) dengan total bobot sebesar  30.415 kg. Sedangkan hasil tangkapan sampingan didominasi oleh ikan tembang (Sardinella fimbriata) dengan total bobot sebesar  74.296 kg. Distribusi ukuran Panjang ikan teri berada pada kisaran panjang 2,7 – 8,5 cm dengan proporsi ikan teri layak tangkap sebesar 66,58%. Hasil tangkapan utama berdasarkan bobot memiliki proporsi sebesar 23,32% dan sampingan 76,68%. Nilai indeks keanekaragaman spesies (H') sebesar 0,85 dan nilai indeks dominansi (C) sebesar 0,49. Alat tangkap purse seine waring memiliki sifat selektif positif terhadap ukuran, namun negatif terhadap spesies. Sedangkan berdasarkan indeks keanekaragaman dan indeks dominansi, alat tangkap purse seine waring memiliki nilai selektivitas yang rendah.

Abstract

Budidaya sistem Keramba Jaring Apung (KJA) merupakan salah satu metode penting dalam industri perikanan. Namun, untuk meningkatkan produktivitas dan keberlanjutannya, pendekatan Integrated Multi Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) telah diusulkan. IMTA mengintegrasikan beberapa spesies organisme dalam satu sistem, memanfaatkan hubungan simbiotik antara mereka untuk meningkatkan produktivitas secara keseluruhan. Studi ini mengevaluasi efektivitas IMTA dalam meningkatkan produktivitas budidaya KJA melalui analisis pertumbuhan, kualitas air, dan manfaat ekonomi. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa penerapan IMTA secara signifikan meningkatkan produktivitas budidaya KJA dengan mengoptimalkan pemanfaatan sumber daya dan mengurangi dampak lingkungan negatif. Selain itu, IMTA juga memberikan manfaat ekonomi yang signifikan melalui diversifikasi produksi dan pemasaran produk tambahan. Temuan ini memberikan dasar untuk pengembangan lebih lanjut dan penerapan luas IMTA dalam budidaya sistem KJA untuk mencapai keberlanjutan ekonomi dan lingkungan yang lebih baik dalam industri perikanan.

Abstract

Shrimp cultivation has always been a star in the world of Indonesian aquaculture and today it is still one of the national priority aquaculture commodities. The market needs of domestic and foreign shrimp cultivation can be met by the high economic value of shrimp. There are many models of cultivation designs and shrimp farming systems that have been developed and used by farmers ranging from traditional to modern. The development of cultivation technology by utilizing marginal land by using plastic as a container for cultivation maintenance is called "Busmetik" technology, relatively small container sizes between 600m2 - 1000m2 are used in order to encourage young entrepreneurs or those who are new to aquaculture. Shrimp cultivation requires large funds both in investment and operational costs in its activities so that young entrepreneurs become pessimistic in starting a shrimp farming business. The banking sector can be convinced by young entrepreneurs with Busmetik technology because it can provide mutually beneficial solutions between entrepreneurs and banks. There are several things behind this Busmetik technology, namely shrimp which is currently the main focus in the cultivation business, has a stable market, the quality of the environment continues to decline, it is difficult to manage ponds with an area of >2000m2, the types of soil used for pond plots to support the Director General of Aquaculture in the shrimp farming program.

Asian J Agric 1: 29-34. This research aimed to develop a sustainable aquaculture system using single-sex nilem fish (Osteochilus hasseltii Valenciennes, 1842; syn. Osteochilus vittatus Valenciennes, 1842) in trophic level-based farming and to analyze the feeding habits, types of meal and preference level of the feed in O. vittatus farmed in Cirata Reservoir. In addition, it also aimed to determine the fish's ability as a biocontrol agent for water cleaning by measuring the ability to utilize periphyton attached to the floating nets. Research was conducted at the Laboratory of Ciparanje, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran and floating nets of Cirata reservoir. Observations of the performance of biological testing and food feeding were applied with the experimental design method of Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replications. The five treatments include non-artificial feeding (treatment A), 1% feeding of body weight per day (treatment B), 2% feeding of body weight per day (treatment C), 3% of feeding of body weight per day (treatment D), and 4% feeding of body weight per day (treatment E). The results showed there was no difference in both the survival and growth levels of the female single-sex fish that were given both commercial and non-commercial feed. The highest feed efficiency was observed in the 3% of commercial feeding treatment, amounting to 55.30%. The fish are herbivorous and generalist with trophic levels between 1.03% and 1.45% eating plankton for living. Fish fed with artificial food to 4% of the biomass still grazed on phytoplankton as the main source of food but adapted by changing the natural feeding and tend to be ineffective in utilizing the available food resources in the waters. During the study, both the types and amount of periphyton attached to the nets decreased. Higher commercial feeding level results in a higher density of periphyton in the floating nets.

Abstract

Ketahanan pangan perkotaan menghadapi berbagai tantangan, terutama pada kawasan dengan keterbatasan lahan dan kepadatan penduduk yang tinggi. Pemerintah Kota Bandung mengembangkan program Buruan SAE (Sehat, Alami, Ekonomis) untuk mendorong kemandirian pangan melalui urban farming. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam memproduksi pangan ikan dan sayuran skala rumah tangga melalui teknik Budikdamber (Budidaya Ikan dalam Ember) yang dikombinasikan dengan filter tenggelam untuk meningkatkan kualitas air dan kelangsungan hidup ikan. Program dilaksanakan pada dua kelompok Buruan SAE dengan melibatkan masyarakat sekitar. Metode pelaksanaan mencakup penyampaian materi, praktik perakitan, dan pendampingan monitoring. Kegiatan ini berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman peserta mengenai akuakultur perkotaan, kemampuan merakit Budikdamber secara mandiri, serta mendorong pemanfaatan teknologi sederhana untuk meningkatkan ketahanan pangan rumah tangga.

Abstract

Indonesia memiliki keanekaragaman hayati yang melimpah. Salah satu yang dapat dibanggakan adalah keragaman spesies ikan hias, baik ikan hias air laut maupun air tawar. Komoditas ikan hias air tawar yang digemari salah satunya adalah ikan molly. Kecerahan warna menjadi salah satu faktor yang paling penting bagi komoditas ikan hias. Kualitas warna yang kurang baik dapat terjadi seiring berjalannya waktu dikarenakan kurangnya asupan karotenoid pada ikan. Ikan tidak dapat menghasilkan pigmen karotenoid pada tubuhnya sehingga sangat bergantung pada pakan yang didapat. Salah satu sumber pakan yang mempunyai karotenoid tinggi adalah ubi jalar oranye. Riset ini bertujuan untuk menentukan konsentrasi optimal pada penambahan tepung ubi jalar oranye yang dicampurkan dengan pakan untuk meningkatkan kecerahan warna ikan molly. Riset ini menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan dan tiga pengulangan. Riset ini dilakukan selama 40 hari dengan pengambilan sampel setiap 10 hari. Pengamatan kecerahan warna ikan menggunakan Modified Toca Colour Finder (M-TCF). Perlakuan yang digunakan pada riset ini adalah pakan komersil ikan konsumsi PF-500 dengan penambahan 0%, 2,5%, 5%, 7,5% tepung ubi jalar oranye dan pakan komersil ikan hias pro vit 89 (kontrol positif). Parameter yang diamati pada riset ini adalah tingkat kecerahan warna, pertumbuhan panjang dan bobot, tingkat kelangsungan hidup dan kualitas air. Hasil riset menunjukkan bahwa penambahan 5% tepung ubi jalar oranye memberikan peningkatan kecerahan warna tertinggi sebanyak 2,8 pada badan dan 2,7 pada kepala ikan. Penambahan tepung ubi jalar oranye tidak memberikan pengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup ikan.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginventarisasi dan mengetahui kondisi ekosistem terumbu karang, menggunakan metode survei dengan melakukan pengamatan tutupan terumbu karang menggunakan metode Line Intercept Transect (LIT), Untuk pengukuran parameter fisika-kimia air dilakukan secara insitu pada tiap stasiun dengan masing-masing dilakukan pada setiap stasiun penelitian. Data yang diperoleh diolah kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif tiap stasiunnya untuk menentukan kondisi terumbu karang didukung dengan kondisi fisika-kimia perairan. Kondisi terumbu karang di perairan Gili Meno secara rata-rata masuk dalam kategori sedang. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan dengan metode Line Intercept Transect (LIT) persentase karang keras (hard coral) di perairan Gili Meno secara rata-rata memiliki persentase sebesar 24,19% sedangkan karang mati (dead coral) sebesar 12,82%. Rata-rata persentase tutupan komponen algae yakni sebesar 0%, sedangkan komponen other fauna dan abiotic berturut-turut sebesar 12,17% dan 56,41%. Keadaan perairan di Gili Meno cukup optimal bagi kehidupan ekosistem terumbu karang. Suhu yang optimal, salinitas yang normal serta kecerahan yang mencapai 100% serta oksigen terlarut yang dibutuhkan oleh biota laut menunjang untuk keberlangsungan hidup ekosistem terumbu karang. Kondisi fisika kimia perairan di Gili Meno banyak dipengaruhi oleh Arus Lintas Indonesia (Arlindo) karena Selat Lombok merupakan salah satu jalur dari Arlindo. Abstract: This research aims to inventory and determine the condition of the coral reef ecosystem, used a survey method by observing coral reef cover using the Line Intercept Transect (LIT) method. The measurement of the physico-chemical parameters of water was carried out in-situ at each station with each carried out at each research station. The data obtained were processed then analyzed descriptively for each station to determine the condition of coral reefs supported by the physico-chemical conditions of the waters. On average, the condition of coral reefs in Gili Meno waters is in the medium category. Based on observations using the Line Intercept Transect (LIT) method, the percentage of hard corals in Gili Meno waters has an average percentage of 24.19% while dead coral is 12.82%. The average percentage cover of the algae component is 0%, while the other fauna and abiotic components are 12.17% and 56.41%,. The condition of the waters in Gili Meno is quite optimal for the life of the coral reef ecosystem. Optimal temperature, normal salinity and brightness that reaches 100% and dissolved oxygen needed by marine life support the survival of coral reef ecosystems. The physical and chemical conditions of the waters in Gili Meno are heavily influenced by the Indonesian Cross Flow (Arlindo) because the Lombok Strait is one of the routes from Arlindo.
