Abstract

Abstract

Aims: This study evaluated palliative care services in Indonesia, focusing on proposing a community-based model to enhance cancer care. Method: A mixed-method approach was employed, involving quantitative analysis of 200 patients’ personal and treatment factors and qualitative insights from 21 stakeholders to FGDs and in-depth interviews. Results: The qualitative results highlight five themes: 1) illness as a subjective and culturally influenced concept, 2) family’s role in treatment decision-making, 3) perceptions of healing through multiple treatment modalities, 4) finding positive meaning in illness, and 5) hopes and aspirations for recovery. The quantitative results show that 55.5% of patients had inadequate knowledge, with 69.5% preferring modern therapy. A significant relationship was found between knowledge, perception, and treatment options, while no significant correlation was observed with self-confidence or diagnosis date. Conclusion: An integrated community-based palliative care model tailored to Indonesia’s healthcare system is proposed to improve the quality of life for cancer patients.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The causes of SOL vary, namely all that can cause expansion of the volume of intracranial fluid and then cause an increase in intracranial pressure. The symptoms experienced by patients with SOL depend on the location of the lesions found in the brain. Treatment that must be given to SOL patients must be done as early as possible with the aim of facilitating treatment; if not treated immediately, it can worsen the patient's condition. The nursing problem associated with SOL is the risk of ineffective cerebral perfusion. There are nursing interventions that can be applied to reduce this ineffective cerebral perfusion problem, one of which is a 30° head-up. The purpose of writing this case study is to find out how nursing management can be used to overcome the problem of ineffective cerebral perfusion disorders in SOL patients. The method in this research is a case study method, namely by describing cases that are actual and unique about a case. The patient experienced a decrease in consciousness with a GCS score of 3 (coma), and the patient experienced dextra hemiplegia and a rapid movement of the patient's chest. The interventions carried out included monitoring the patient's condition and vital signs. Head-up 30o is done twice a day, namely in the morning and evening, with a duration of approximately 15 minutes. During the 4 days of treatment, cerebral perfusion had improved as seen from the vital signs of the patient, which were starting to stabilize; there was an increase in consciousness; there was an increase in muscle function; and there were no signs of intracranial increaseConclusion: This means that giving Head Up 30o is effectively used in patients with cerebral perfusion disorders and nursing problems. Keywords: Cerebral Perfusion Disorders, Management, SOL  ABSTRAK Penyebab terjadinya SOL bervariasi, yaitu semua yang dapat menimbulkan ekspansi dari volume cairan intrakranial lalu menyebabkan terjadinya peningkatan tekanan intrkranial.

Abstract

Health Care Associated Infection has become a serious problem in hospitals, and one of the causes is low hand hygiene compliance. Factors influencing compliance with the five moments of hand hygiene are knowledge, attitudes, and supervision. Research was conducted to identify factors related to nurses' compliance with the implementation of the five moments of hand hygiene. Analytical correlational research with a cross-sectional approach was conducted at RSUD in November 2023 with a sample of 123 nurses. The questionnaire used was based on Herzbergh's motivation theory and the 26-item Manchester Clinical Supervision Scale (MCSS-26). Bivariate test using Chi Square, and multivariate analysis with logistic regression were performed. The results showed that there is a relationship between knowledge and compliance (p=0.000), there is a relationship between training and compliance (p=0.016). There is a relationship between motivation and compliance (p=0.000), there is a relationship between attitudes and compliance (p=0.000). There is a relationship between facilities and compliance (p=0.011), there is a relationship between supervision and compliance (p=0.000). The dominant factors influencing are supervision (3.178), attitude (2.921), and knowledge (0.138). The conclusion of the study is that there is a relationship between knowledge, training, attitudes, motivation, facilities, and supervision on compliance with the five moments of hand hygiene, the dominant factors influencing are supervision, attitude, and knowledge in order.

Abstract

Nurse workload is all activities, activities, actions taken by a nurse while the nurse is on duty in a hospital service unit. The purpose of this literature is to identify which method is more effective and efficient to measure the workload of nurses. Article review was carried out through several electronic databases including Google Scholar, Google Scholar, Pubmed with the keyword "nurse workload", inclusion criteria included articles published between 2015 and 2022, full text in both English and Indonesian. A literature search found 72 articles, then 51 articles were removed according to the exclusion criteria, so that only 8 articles were identified. The results of the literature study show that the WISN method is most often used to determine the workload of health workers, not only nurses. made by several people including Richa Noprianty et al, 2020 with the topic Analysis of Nurses Staff Needs Using Workload Indicate Staff Need in Pediatric Ward with Time Motion Study, Taufique Joarder et al, 2020 with the topic Assessment of staffing needs for physicians and nurses at Upazila health complexes in Bangladesh using WHO workload indicators of staffing need (WISN) method and Angélica Araújo de Menezes et al,  2022 with the topic Application of the workload indicators of staffing need method to calculate the size of the medical staff at a maternity hospital in the state of Bahia, Brazil. But beyond that, it doesn't mean that other methods are ineffective, because each method has its own advantages and disadvantages, it's up to the researchers or the hospital to choose which method to use.

Abstract

Nurses play a pivotal role in determining the quality of healthcare services. Job satisfaction among nurses not only influences their professional performance but also directly affects the quality of patient care. Dissatisfaction may lead to burnout, errors, and decreased patient safety. This study aimed to identify and analyze the factors related to nurses’ job satisfaction and to explore how these factors impact the quality of patient services. A scoping review was conducted using the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Literature searches were performed through PubMed, CINAHL, and Google Scholar based on the PCC framework. Articles were selected through a systematic screening process, and data were extracted and analyzed thematically. The review identified 25 key factors associated with nurses’ job satisfaction, categorized into four main domains: (1) organizational and leadership factors, (2) individual nurse characteristics, (3) work environment, and (4) professional development and practice. Supportive leadership, organizational commitment, and recognition were strongly associated with higher satisfaction. Improving nurses’ job satisfaction through targeted strategies is a critical component for ensuring high-quality patient care and favorable outcomes. Strategies such as enhancing work conditions, fostering leadership support, and providing development opportunities are vital for strengthening both nurses' well-being and patient outcomes.
