Abstract

The role of teachers in the world of education is very important and is not limited to teaching material. Teachers must have skills in classroom management and effective learning strategies to create a conducive classroom atmosphere, which contributes to the success of learners in understanding the lessons. One of the methods that is often used is direct learning, where the teacher acts as a facilitator who directs and supports students' learning activities in a structured and logical manner. The purpose of this study is to find out the definition of direct learning strategies, the characteristics of direct learning strategies, the theoretical foundations of direct learning strategies, the types of direct learning strategies, the steps to implement direct learning strategies and the advantages and disadvantages of direct learning strategies. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive with a literature study approach by utilizing databases derived from previous writing sources, such as library books, to collect data. The results of the study show that the direct learning strategy is a teaching approach in which the teacher plays a central role in delivering material directly to students. The hands-on learning strategy uses modeling and demonstration to learn through observation, guided by teachers who focus on delivering the material comprehensively. The active participation of students is very important. This approach is based on theories such as constructivism, behaviorism, cognitivism, social learning theory, and problem-based learning. This model includes orientation, material presentation, structured exercises, guided exercises, and independent exercises. Although effective in controlling the material and teaching concepts to low-achieving learners, this strategy also has limitations in active social interaction and teaching complex material.

Abstract

This study explores the major challenges in Islamic education in Indonesia, focusing on religious moderation. The research primarily examines how the curriculum is implemented and the role of Islamic educational institutions in supporting religious moderation. Using a qualitative approach and case studies of several Islamic educational institutions, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings indicate that despite efforts to incorporate the values of religious moderation into the curriculum, numerous obstacles remain, such as resource limitations, resistance from certain groups, and differing views on the concept of religious moderation. Islamic educational institutions play a crucial role in shaping students' understanding of religious moderation, but their effectiveness heavily depends on the dedication and capacity of educators, as well as support from the government and the community. This study recommends enhancing educators' capacities, improving curriculum quality, and fostering stronger collaboration between the government, educational institutions, and the community to achieve the goals of religious moderation in Islamic education. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of more inclusive and tolerant educational policies in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research explores the concept of Islamization of science and its application in education. Currently, there are still many parties who feel doubtful about the existence of Islamic science. Not a few of these parties are Muslims too. They consider the discourse on Islamic science and the Islamization of science to be absurd, because science is neutral. Logically, according to them, nature looks the same to everyone, whether Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists or any religion. The aim of writing this article is to explore further the concept of Islamization of science. This research uses a qualitative approach because it aims to understand the phenomenon in depth and holistically. This approach is suitable for exploring the views, experiences and interpretations of various parties regarding critical issues in Islamic education and religious moderation. The method used in writing this paper is to use the library method, namely by searching and collecting several sources from the internet and books regarding information regarding the concept of Islamization of science. The results of research on the concept of Islamization of Science show that the development of science and technology can be a means of getting closer to Allah, strengthening faith, and contributing goodness to humanity, as long as it is carried out with full awareness of religious values and moral responsibility

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the PIBA program at UIN Alauddin Makassar, with a specific focus on Arabic language instruction. The evaluation covers key components such as instructional procedures, supporting facilities, student engagement, and the challenges encountered throughout the program. Employing a qualitative approach and field research methods, the study involved leaders, instructors, and third-semester PIBA students as participants. The findings showed that Arabic language teaching within the PIBA program employed a range of instructional methods and models. Although lecture and discussion formats facilitated student interaction, the limited use of interactive strategies such as simulations and technology integration reduced active student participation. Moreover, the instructional materials were not sufficiently adapted to address the diverse needs of students, indicating the necessity for more flexible and competency-based modules. Time constraints during classroom sessions also hindered in-depth exploration of the content. Based on these findings, the study recommends innovations in teaching approaches through the integration of technology, the development of adaptive learning resources, and improved time management to enhance program effectiveness. Periodic evaluations are also considered essential for ensuring continuous improvement in Arabic language education at UIN Alauddin Makassar and for positioning it as a relevant instructional model in the digital era.

Abstract

This article reviews the importance of revitalizing science education through an Islamization approach as an effort to integrate Islamic values in modern science. By emphasizing the concept of integration between religion and science, this approach aims to overcome the dichotomy between religious science and secular science. The research method used is a literature review, involving analysis of theories and practices related to the Islamization of science proposed by figures such as Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas and Ismail Raji al-Faruqi. The Islamization of science is considered capable of enriching science education with a holistic perspective that includes moral and spiritual dimensions, thereby creating a generation of scientists who are not only intellectually superior, but also have ethical awareness. The main challenges to this approach involve the dominance of the secular science paradigm in education and the need to develop methodologies that are in line with Islamic principles. This article recommends developing a curriculum based on Islamic values and global collaboration to strengthen the position of Islamic science in the international arena.
