The results of this study indicate that the community plays a crucial role as mediators and victims, which are the primary criteria for evaluating the moral legitimacy of those who pollute the environment and local governments, where it was also discovered that the two organizations in this study face a variety of challenges in maintaining their legitimacy. This study's implication is serious efforts are required to enhance environmental governance and public participation. Abstract

Social media has altered emergency communication between local governments and citizens. Studies on social media and natural disasters are expanding. Few studies have explored the crisis of social media use among local government officials. This study investigated how Indonesian leaders use social media. It used data scraping techniques with the Twitter API and the http://tweepy.readthedocs.io/en/v3.5.0/api.html#tweepy-api-twitter-api-wrapper library to collect tweets from each governor's account in Bahasa, Indonesia, between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2020. The collected data were stored in a MySQL database to facilitate manual analysis and converted to text format. The data were manually labeled using a three-step coding procedure and assigned to categories to identify social media trends among local government leaders during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study examines the government response effectiveness concept, which depends on the timeliness and breadth of official engagement and how communities receive, perceive, and respond to information provided by governments and other agencies. Four leaders demonstrated compassion, care, and self-assurance throughout the pandemic. Leaders must have two-way communication. A recent study investigated the Twitter links between local leaders and pandemic victims. This study supports the notion that social media use by government officials during epidemics influences community perceptions of risk and trust, thereby influencing policy decisions. These findings have policy ramifications, notably for establishing social media restrictions for local government leaders during future health emergencies.

Abstract

This research investigates the impact of both traditional and virtual social capital on community resilience, with engagement on social media as a mediating variable. The study surveyed 397 inhabitants of an urban sub-district in Palembang, Indonesia, and analyzed the data using the structural equation model partial least square (SEM-PLS) technique. The results indicate that it is critical to prioritize and activate various forms of social capital to enhance community resilience during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The analysis showed that social media engagement had a significant positive impact on community resilience (p<0.05), however the influence of virtual bonding social capital was negligible and negatively skewed (p=0.084). It is significant to note that community resilience was significantly positively impacted by both traditional bonding and bridging social capital (both p<0.05). Social media involvement was also markedly positively impacted by virtual bonding and bridging social capital (both p<0.05). The link between virtual bonding, bridging social capital, and community resilience was strongly influenced by social media use in terms of mediation (both p<0.05). This emphasizes how important social capital, both physical and digital, and particularly social media participation, are to building community resilience during pandemics.

Abstract

With the potential to bring about considerable economic, social, and environmental advantages, forest tourism has emerged as a crucial industry for sustainable development in Southeast Asia. However, one of the biggest challenges is figuring out how to balance the consumption of natural resources with their conservation. As a result, this study uses bibliometric analysis to shed light on Southeast Asian forest tourism research. The Bibliometric R program was used in this study to assess a total of 174 articles that were chosen from the Scopus database using search criteria that included keywords such as forest, forestry, tourism, and touristry, limited to English-language journal articles from South Asian countries. The findings revealed that the key areas of focus in the analyzed studies centered on conservation and ecotourism. This bibliometric analysis also reveals periodic growth in forest tourism research, likely driven by increasing global and regional awareness of sustainable development goals, the economic potential of ecotourism, and the need to balance conservation with tourism activities. Additionally, the consistent pattern of author and institutional collaboration may be attributed to the interdisciplinary nature of forest tourism research, which often requires expertise from fields such as environmental science, sociology, and economics, fostering partnerships across institutions. These results offer insights into the development of future studies in forest tourism as well as empirical evidence to build strategies and policies for creating sustainable forest tourism.

Abstract

This study examines the evolution and growth of research on ethnic cuisine in Indonesia over a thirty-year period (1993–2023) using a bibliometric analysis. The findings revealed that research in this field has grown with an average annual expansion of 6.7%. Thematic evolution highlights a shift in focus from the cultural and regional aspects of ethnic cuisine to scientific and nutritional dimensions, such as health benefits, functional foods, and modernized practices. Additionally, this study identifies key trends, including the role of gender and age in shaping food preferences, the contrasts between rural and urban dietary behaviors, and influence of globalization on traditional food systems. A trend of collaborative research was observed, with international partnerships involving nations such as Malaysia, Japan, China, and Canada underscoring the global appeal and relevance of Indonesian ethnic food research. This study highlights the growing interdisciplinary and international nature of research in this field. Recommendations for future studies include exploring diverse perspectives,  and expanding cross-national research to address the dynamic challenges and opportunities in ethnic cuisine studies.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic marks the importance of coordination, cooperation, and collaboration to reduce the virus’ spread and its impacts. Although a lot of literature has explored how the government works during the COVID-19 pandemic, only a few studies have examined it at the local government level. Therefore, this study aims to fill this gap by exploring the local government’s workings and the agencies. This study used narrative qualitative research with the main data source from interviews with the Ogan Ilir Regency COVID-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Response. This study found that government agencies have not accomplished at the action level despite having a common goal as a condition of coordination. The findings of this study reaffirmed that the silo mentality still exists in the bureaucracy of local government in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines how the South Sumatra Natural Resources Conservation Agency and the Belantara Foundation utilise Instagram to deliver messages about wildlife conservation. A total of 470 Instagram posts published by these organisations throughout 2022 were analysed using quantitative content analysis. The findings show that the South Sumatra BKSDA tends to focus on posts related to field actions and the current status of wildlife, while the Belantara Foundation emphasises educational content and community engagement. The analysis reveals differences in how each institution frames conservation messages and visual strategies to communicate with the public. Rather than measuring impact, this study highlights the distinctive approaches used by government and non-government institutions in using social media to convey conservation issues. The findings contribute to understanding how message design and media framing can support public engagement in conservation communication.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine the scholarly literature on verbal harassment. With the aid of VOSviewer, a dataset of 145 records was extracted from the Scopus database for study. The articles were categorized by year, publication, author, co-author nation, affiliation, keywords, and journal-title. In addition, they were evaluated based on a variety of factors, including State Contributions, Institutions and Authors, Journal Distribution, Most-Cited Articles, Coupling Bibliography, and Keyword Analysis. This study identifies a number of research clusters, including discrimination, transgender, victimization, and Asian Americans, violence, sexual violence, and transphobia, as well as bullying, youth, school environment, and LGBTQ. In addition, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada have contributed the most to publications on the subject of verbal harassment between 1967 and 2022. The University of Minnesota, the University of California at Davis, and New York University are the three universities with the highest number of Citations in Published publications.Â
