Abstract

Tetragonula laeviceps was one of the most stingless bees that spread almost throughout Indonesia and produced honey and propolis. Nutmeg is one of the native plants of Indonesia, can be used by stingless bees. The aim of this study was to know the activity of Tetragonula laeviceps in monoculture and polyculture nutmeg plantation. The method used in this research is observation for outgoing and return activity, and t-test used to determine the activity. The result showed that the activity start at 6 am until 5 pm, and the peak activities are at 10 – 12 am. T-test shows the difference activities (P < 0,05) with the score 36,5 ± 20,9 bees/5 minutes at monoculture plantation and 24,88 ± 8,96 bees/ 5 minutes at polyculture plantation. The feed availability and the distance between the hive and plants are thought to influence the activities of bees in both location. External activities of Stingless bees are forage nectar, pollen and resin. Other activities are disposing of trash, driving out disabled bees from the hives, and protecting the hive from enemy attacks.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the difficulties of junior high school civic education teachers in developing Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (the national slogan unity in diversity) learning materials based on actual issues. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Data was collected using interviews with informants from junior high school civic education teachers in Sukoharjo District and civics field experts, document analysis of civic education (PPKn) textbooks for junior high school and PPKn 2013 curriculum documents, supported by Focus Group Discussions. The results showed that the teacher had no difficulty developing the civic education materials of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika for junior high school because it was based on government textbooks and lesson plans developed by teachers' association (MGMP) of civic education subject for junior high school in Sukoharjo Regency. Difficulties are experienced when presenting actual issues that are close to students' initial experiences related to the materials and the use of instructional technology media that are appropriate to the conditions of the school and students. This is because actual issues that are close to students' initial experiences are not included in the textbook. Likewise, the use of technology to support learning is also not included in textbooks. This makes teachers creatively prepare local, practical and actual issues to support the learning of these materials. The teachers also uses instructional technology media to support learning material by adjusting the conditions of the schools and students. Keywords: civic education subject (PPKn), learning materials, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis kesulitan guru PPKn SMP dalam mengembangkan materi pembelajaran Bhinneka Tunggal Ika yang berbasis isu aktual. Abstract

Situational awareness constitutes the cognitive foundation of effective bridge watchkeeping, yet the extent to which simulator-based training programs at Indonesian maritime academies successfully develop this foundational competency among Nautika cadets has not been empirically established. This study assesses bridge watchkeeping situational awareness competency development among deck cadets at Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pelayaran (STIP) Jakarta through a mixed-methods design combining pre- and post-simulation assessment with cadet self-assessment surveys and lecturer focus group discussions. Data were collected between April 2025 and April 2026 from 86 Nautika cadets across two academic year cohorts and nine simulator training lecturers. Thematic analysis, cross-group comparison, and narrative synthesis were applied to the qualitative data alongside quantitative competency gain analysis. Findings reveal statistically significant situational awareness competency gains following simulation training across all three Endsley model levels—perception, comprehension, and projection—with comprehension and projection dimensions showing larger absolute gains than perception, and with cadet self-assessment substantially underestimating actual competency gain relative to objective assessment results. Lecturer focus group data identified scenario complexity calibration and debrief quality as the dominant instructional factors mediating simulation training effectiveness. The study contributes an empirical baseline of simulator-based SA competency development specific to STIP Jakarta and provides evidence-based recommendations for simulation curriculum enhancement.
