Abstract

The low scientific literacy skills of Indonesian students should be a serious concern for all science educators. Scientific literacy skills can be improved in contextual learning related to nature and social contexts that occur in the environment around students. This study aims to develop the science literacy of high school students through the application of Problem Based Learning model on the topic of global warming. This study used a quantitative approach with descriptive methods, with participants of 24 students in one of the high schools in Bandung City.  The research instrument used is a science literacy test question in the form of descriptions, which consists of 3 domains, namely context, content, and science competence, in addition, student handouts is also used to provide an overview of the PBL learning process containing the applied science literacy.  The result shows students performed Moderately in three PISA-based competencies including (i) explaining scientific phenomena, (ii) evaluating and designing scientific investigations, and (iii) analyzing evidence and data scientifically for decision-making and action.

Abstract

In improving the quality of learning, it is necessary to develop a learning design that can facilitate the characteristics of students. The didactical design can facilitate the characteristics of students through sharing and jumping tasks. Sharing task is used to facilitate slow learner while jumping task is used to facilitate fast learner. Jumping task is not only beneficial for students with high academic ability, but also provides benefits for students with low academic ability. The purpose of this study is to develop the didactical design based on sharing and jumping tasks to enhance learning quality on the topic of reaction rate low. The research method used is didactical design research (DDR). Didactical design consisted of three steps i.e. (a) analysis of didactical situation before learning (prospective), (b) analysis of didactical situation during learning (metapedadidactical), and (c) analysis of didactical situation after learning (retrospective). The data was collected by test, observation, interview, documentation and recording (audio and video). The result showed that the didactical design on the topic of reaction was valid

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' critical thinking skill in exploiting covalent bond material. The method applied in this study was descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. It was conducted at one of high schools in Bandung were the participants were the tenth grade students’. The instruments used for data collection were audio, video and observation sheets. The collected data were analyzed using Transcript Based Lesson Analysis (TBLA). The results indicated that three out of twelve indicators of critical thinking skill had been identified in learning covalent bonds. The three indicators are formulating questions, answering the “why” questions, and identifying differences. The low achievement of critical thinking indicators was due to the method used in teaching which is still informative or transferring knowledge from teacher to student (teacher-centered) without giving sufficient time for students to reflect the material presented, link it with prior knowledge, or apply it in real life situations.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills become essential skills for students demanded by the 2013 curriculum. Effective learning critical thinking is very important for students in the classroom. This study aimed to identify students' critical thinking skills during chemistry learning process of molecular shapes. The results indicated that four out of twelve indicators of critical thinking skill had been identified in learning molecular shapes. The four indicators are formulating questions, answering the “why” questions, focusing on a question, judging the credibility of the sources, and interacting with others. The low achievement of critical thinking indicators was due to the method used in teaching which is still informative or transferring knowledge from teacher to student (teacher-centered) without giving sufficient time for students to reflect the material presented, link it with prior knowledge, or apply it in real life situations.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the growth of students' creative thinking skills in the implementation of learning sharing & jumping tasks in the buffer solution material. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The research was conducted in one of Bandung's high school students of class XI with a total of 24 students. The instruments used for data collection were interview guidelines, audio and video recordings through zoom meetings and observation sheets. The collected data were analyzed based on Transcript Based Lesson Analysis (TBLA). The results showed that in the sharing task all aspects of creative thinking skills emerged during the learning process, namely in the aspects of fluent thinking, flexible thinking, original thinking, elaborative thinking, and evaluative thinking. Meanwhile, in the jumping task, there is one aspect that does not appear, namely the aspect of original thinking.

Abstract

Cooperative learning is one of the learning strategies that is implemented collaboratively or cooperatively among students. With good cooperation, it is expected that there will be high communication, interest and motivation in learning. Cooperative learning needs to be integrated with assessments in the form of interactive quizzes so that students are more interested in participating in learning. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of cooperative learning with interactive quizzes conducted through Classroom Action Research (CAR). From the results of the study, it was found that the pretest and posttest of excretory system material in the first and second cycles experienced a significant increase. While between the first cycle and the second cycle did not experience a significant increase. Analysis of student interest in learning in each cycle and between cycles did not experience a significant increase. The results of the study were then analyzed descriptively with the support of supporting articles.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: The formation of Islamic character in the educational environment, especially in madrasas, is crucial for building students' moral and ethical foundations. Purpose: This research examines the role of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah teachers in fostering students' Islamic character through an integrative thematic learning approach adapted to technological developments in the digital era. Method: Using a qualitative case study at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Tarbiyatul Athfal, data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed descriptively. Result: The findings reveal that teachers who employ an integrative thematic approach effectively link lesson material to Islamic values, enabling students to understand and apply religious principles in daily life. Additionally, while the use of digital technology is still limited, teachers who manage digital tools well can enhance student motivation and engagement. The study also found that integrating technology with Islamic values helps students internalize Islamic character more deeply. Conclusion: The research underscores the importance of teacher training in utilizing technology as an effective learning tool, suggesting that madrasas should provide adequate support for teachers to integrate technology with Islamic character education. This approach aims to build a generation with noble morals in the digital era.
