Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of student interest in Cultural Arts subjects, which was triggered by conventional teaching methods that lacked interactivity. Augmented Reality (AR) is offered as an innovative solution to create an immersive learning experience, especially in outdoor settings that have not been widely explored. Although the effectiveness of AR has been proven in various contexts, its implementation for Cultural Arts learning in real environments is still very limited. Therefore, this research is urgent to fill this gap and provide empirical evidence on the use of AR in increasing student engagement. This study fills this gap by applying an AR application featuring 3D objects, 2D objects, videos, and practice questions using Unity Engine and Vuforia Engine. The development method follows the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), while functionality testing uses Blackbox Alpha and learning interest evaluation uses Beta. The result is an AR Cultural Arts application, as evidenced by Beta testing results using a Likert scale, which produced a score of 4.00 with 35 student respondents in the “High” category stating that the application can increase the learning interest of high school students.

Abstract

Sungai Penuh City is situated within the Bukit Barisan mountain range and tropical rainforest area. A significant portion of the city falls within the Kerinci Seblat National Park, while the urban area accounts for less than half of the city’s total territory. The upstream section of the Batang Bungkal River, which flows through Sungai Penuh, has a very low rainfall absorption capacity. Consequently, rainwater flows directly into the surrounding watershed areas, which is a major contributing factor to flash floods. The flash flood disaster that occurred in Sungai Penuh in January 2024 had its most severe impact in the Hamparan Rawang District. The objective of this study is to obtain accurate information regarding the probability and impact of risks that may arise during project implementation, in order to provide appropriate recommendations, suggestions, and further control measures to minimize risk levels. The risk management framework adopted in this study is based on the Australia/New Zealand Standards (1999). This research employs a quantitative descriptive method, with data collected through interviews and questionnaires distributed to respondents. Risk evaluation and control are conducted using the four approaches outlined in AS/NZS 4360, namely: Risk avoidance,Reducing the likelihood of occurrence,Reducing the consequences of occurrence, and Risk transfer to other parties. From the 42 identified risk indicators, 11 were classified under the Extreme Risk category.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the symbolic thinking ability of 5–6 year-old children in recognizing letter symbols through the use of magnetic board media at Pos PAUD Arrahman, Pedes District. The subjects were 12 children in group B, consisting of 7 girls and 5 boys. The study applied Classroom Action Research (CAR) in two cycles, each involving planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results showed that in the pre-cycle stage, most children were in the Beginning to Develop category (33%) and Not Yet Developed category (42%). Children generally recognized letters verbally but struggled to identify letter symbols accurately, highlighting the need for concrete learning experiences. In Cycle I, improvements were noted with 50% of children in the Beginning to Develop category and 34% in the Developing as Expected category, though some still had difficulty distinguishing vowels and consonants. In Cycle II, the use of magnetic board media produced significant progress. Most children reached the Developing as Expected (42%) and Very Well-Developed (42%) categories, with a total of 84% surpassing the 75% success indicator. Children were able to recognize letter symbols accurately, relate them to their sounds, and apply this knowledge in learning. These findings demonstrate that magnetic board media is an effective concrete learning tool to enhance symbolic thinking in early childhood. Its interactive and play-based nature suits children’s cognitive development in the preoperational stage and provides multisensory experiences that strengthen symbolic understanding as a foundation for literacy.

Abstract

Plastic waste has brought us an enormous environmental challenge. One solution that could be done to solve the problem of plastic waste is to switch to ordinary plastic using biodegradable film. Corn cob is a type of lignocellulosic waste. And it could be used as biodegradable film material. This research aims to construct a Teaching-Learning Sequence (TLS) in film formation from corn cobs. The Teaching-Learning Sequences (TLS) that were designed can be made into lesson plans or learning materials with the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model that fits with the "Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5)" program in the current curriculum in Indonesia. This research is based on qualitative content analysis. It has four stages: collecting material, making a descriptive analysis, selecting categories, and evaluating. Data analysis and validation through experts were used. These validators included two experienced chemistry teachers and two chemistry education lecturers. Therefore, the validated Teaching-Learning Sequence (TLS) applies to learning activities. The discussion is split into four points: the first is the rate of plastic waste, the second is what corncobs consist of and their potential, the third is the process of creating biodegradable film, and the fourth point is the advantage of converting corncob waste to biodegradable film.
