Abstract

The ability to understand mathematical concepts is crucial for students to grasp the material flexibly and accurately. However, many students still struggle to comprehend these concepts when solving math problems, resulting in mere grades rather than true understanding. This study aims to enhance students' conceptual understanding through the implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) combined with Culturally responsive teaching (CRT) on the topic of linear equations in Class VIII B at SMP Negeri 3 Madiun during the 2023/2024 academic year. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with 32 students as subjects. The results of this study show that the rubric scores for indicators of mathematical concept understanding were 42.19% in the pre-cycle, 61.72% in cycle I, and 83.59% in cycle II, which fall into the high category. Additionally, the percentage of student mastery increased from 71.88% with an average score of 78.72 in the pre-cycle to 90.63% with an average score of 82.63 in cycle I, and reached 100% with an average score of 87.56 in cycle II.

Abstract

Pada proses pembelajaran matematika terdapat beberapa siswa terlihat kurang aktif dan tidak terlalu terlibat dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Padahal aktivitas siswa baik fisik maupun non-fisik, menjadi kunci dalam mencapai pemahaman dan hasil belajar yang maksimal di sekolah Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan aktivitas belajar siswa melalui penerapan Problem Based Learning (PBL) dengan pendekatan Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) pada materi statistika di kelas VIII C SMP Negeri 3 Madiun. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan jumlah subyek sebanyak 32 siswa. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) dengan pendekatan Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) secara signifikan meningkatkan aktivitas belajar siswa kelas VIII C. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa siswa kelas VIII C menunjukkan dominasi dalam visual activities, seperti memperhatikan penjelasan guru dan membaca materi, yang mengindikasikan efektivitas pembelajaran melalui pengamatan visual

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa di kelas VIII A SMP Negeri 3 Madiun dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL). Subjek penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII A SMP Negeri 3 Madiun yang berjumlah sebanyak 32 siswa. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu soal tes berbentuk uraian untuk mengumpulkan data hasil belajar siswa dengan model pembelajaran PBL pada pelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus dimana setiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, observasi dan evaluasi, refleksi. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini setelah dilakukan analisis data yaitu hasil belajar siswa kelas VIII A SMP Negeri 3 Madiun mengalami peningkatan. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari besarnya rata-rata pada siklus I yaitu sebesar 82,98 dan pada siklus II sebesar 88,41. Ketuntasan klasikal dari kedua siklus juga mengalani peningkatan dan memenuhi indikator keberhasilan yang telah ditetapkan yakni lebih dari atau sama dengan 80%. Ketuntasan klasikal pada siklus I sebesar 78,13% dan pada siklus II sebesar 87,50%.

Abstract

The purpose of this development research is to develop math worksheets using the SPLDV Calc application and to find out how to improve students' creative thinking skills with a 4D development model that is modified into 3D. The stages of this research development consist of: define, design, and develop. The results of this product development are (1) fulfilling the validity criteria based on the final validation percentage of 87% for LKS and 89% for the SPLDV Calc application; (2) meet the effectiveness criteria based on the results of student learning completeness to achieve classical mastery with a percentage of 86%; (3) meeting the criteria for practicality with a student response questionnaire percentage of 85% giving a positive response. The developed worksheets can improve students' creative thinking skills, it is indicated that there is an increase in the pretest to posttest scores from the N-Gain test score of 0.73 with high interpretation, so that the student worksheets can be used by students in learning This shows that android-based worksheets make it easier to learn mathematics.

Abstract

Berdasarkan hasil observasi yang dilaksanakan di SMKN 1 Madiun, kegiatan pembelajaran masih berjalan secara tradisional yakni guru memberikan materi dan peserta didik mendengarkan penjelasan dari guru. Sehingga siswa merasa bosan kurang fokus dalam mendengarkan penjelasan dari guru. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan menggunakan analaisis kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Penelitian ini berkolaborasi dengan guru kelas sebagai kolaborator dan berperan sebagai observer penelitian. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMKN 1 Madiun, yang berjumlah 34 siswa yang terdiri dari 17 perempuan dan 17 laki-laki. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini adalah melalui lembar observasi dan soal tes posttest. Penelitian ini menggunakan model siklus dari Kurt Lewin yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, dan masing-masing siklusnya terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu: perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Penelitian ini dikatakan tuntas atau berhasil apabila rata-rata nilai peserta didik yang mencapai KKM 70 pada soal evaluasi atau posttest sebanyak 80%. Dalam penelitian ini, analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis data kualitatif dan kuantitatif . Penelitian ini bertujuan ntuk mendeskripsikan penerapan Model Pembelajaran Project Based Learning (PjBL) Berbantuan Media 3D Watercycle untuk Meningkatan Hasil Belajar Siswa Kelas X di SMKN 1 Madiun. Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dikumpulkan maka didapatkan hasil presentase nilai ketuntasan pada prasiklus hanya sebesar 26,47 %. Kemudian terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar yaitu pada siklus I dengan presentase ketuntasan sebesar 52,94 % dan pada siklus II mengalami peningkatan lagi dengan presentase sebesar 82,35% .

Abstract

Literasi numerasi merupakan keterampilan yang sangat dibutuhkan oleh generasi penerus bangsa, sehingga perlu dibekalkan sejak di sekolah dasar. Hasil data dari PISA menunjukkan bahwa masih rendahnya kemampuan literasi dan numerasi terutama siswa Sekolah Dasar (SD) di Indonesia. Untuk itu perlunya pendampingan guru SD untuk penguatan literasi numerasi melalui proyek kolaborasi. Pendampingan ini dilakukan oleh tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat oleh dosen dan mahasiswa Universitas PGRI Madiun. Mitra pengabdian kepada masyarakat adalah SDN Begal Kabupaten Ngawi Jawa Timur. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan menjadi 3 tahap yaitu persiapan pendampingan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi hasil pendampingan. Tahap persiapan dimulai dengan melakukan pelatihan dan menyusun rencana kegiatan. Selanjutnya, pada tahap pelaksanaan Guru-guru mampu menerapkan pembelajaran literasi numerasi melalui proyek kolaborasi pada setiap pembelajaran hingga ekstrakurikuler baik di dalam maupun di luar kelas. Selain itu, guru-guru juga mampu memanfaatkan media pembelajaran baik menggunakan teknologi atau memanfaatkan benda di sekitar lingkungan sekolah dengan optimal. Tahap evaluasi hasil pendampingan dengan melakukan refleksi dan pelaporan secara berkala, sehingga implementasi proyek kolaborasi dapat meningkatkan kemampuan literasi numerasi siswa SDN Begal.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the difficulties experienced by students in understanding the double integral in polar coordinates advanced calculus courses and the factors that cause these problems. This research is qualitative. Subjects were students of the fourth semester of academic year 2015/2016 Mathematics Education, IKIP  PGRI Madiun totaling 3 persons. Data collection techniques have used that test, observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis technique conducted with qualitative data analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results were obtained five kinds of difficulties students in understanding the integral double the coordinates polar, namely 1) the difficulty in drawing a function in polar coordinates and determine the areas of integration, 2) the difficulty in converting the variable into polar coordinates, 3) difficulty in defining the limits of integration, 4) difficulty in writing a form of integration in polar coordinates, 5) difficulties in performing the calculations. Factors causing these difficulties is the ability to understand the matter is low, understanding in drawing a function in two-dimensional and three are still low, difficulties in visualizing the image of a function, do not understand the concept of comparison trigonometry, do not understand in determining the limits of integration in polar coordinates, less rigorous in setting limits of integration, not yet understand the concept of double integral in polar coordinates, lower integration calculation capabilities, yet integral mastered trigonometry.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the feasibility of research-based learning materials with problem solving and problem posing oriented of Mathematics Statistics. This research is a development research refers to the instructional development cycle by Fenrich (1997). Data collection techniques by observation, tests, and closed questionnaires. Data analysis techniques used qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis (mixing method). The results: (1) a valid Semester Learning Plan (RPS) both in content and construct, Student Activity Sheet (LKM) based on research and a Learning Result Test (THB) assessment sheet with good and very good assessment from the validator that can be used with few revision, (2) positive response from students to teaching materials amounted to 88.67%, (3) effectiveness of teaching materials was seen based on student learning completeness of 78.20%and better compared to classes that are not taught to use research-based learning teaching materials developed. The development of research-based learning materials with problem solving and problem posing oriented are valid, practic and effective that suitable for use in Statistics Mathematics learning process.

Abstract

Despite the growing recognition of ethnomathematics as a bridge between culture and formal mathematics education, limited research has explored the mathematical knowledge embedded in regional cultural artifacts such as Batik Pendekar from Madiun City, Indonesia. This study aims to uncover the mathematical activities, concepts, and anthropological aspects inherent in the Batik Pendekar tradition to support culturally responsive mathematics education. This research employed a qualitative ethnographic approach. This research was conducted at the Batik Murni Madiun City Gallery by collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analysed qualitatively using triangulation methods. The findings reveal that artisans engage in meaningful mathematical practices, such as measuring fabric dimensions, counting dye usage and production costs, and designing motifs based on geometric principles. The mathematical concepts embedded in Batik Pendekar include geometry, triangular shapes, and transformation geometry (translation and reflection). Additionally, anthropological aspects, such as local wisdom, social values, and symbolic meanings, are integral to these activities. The study concludes that Batik Pendekar serves as a rich ethnomathematical resource, offering opportunities to bridge mathematics learning with local culture and enhance contextual understanding in mathematics education.

Abstract

Ethnomathematics integrates mathematical concepts such as counting, measuring, geometric patterns, and spatial structures with local culture to create more meaningful and contextual learning. This study aims to explore the concept of ethnomathematics in the architecture of the Baitul Hakim Grand Mosque in Madiun City and assess its potential as a learning resource in mathematics learning. Using a qualitative ethnographic approach, data were collected through direct observation of the mosque building, interviews with mosque administrators, and architectural documentation. Data analysis was carried out systematically through method triangulation to ensure the validity of the findings. The results of the study revealed real mathematical activities in the mosque building, namely counting activities (the number of 120 pillars, 5 ablution places, and 1 tower), measuring (the height of the main pillar is 12m, the diameter of the pillar is 50cm, the ablution places are 3x3m and 5x12m, and the tower is 35m high with various diameters), and designing the building (combining elements of Javanese, Arabic, and European architecture). Further exploration shows the existence of flat geometry concepts (rectangle, isosceles triangle, trapezoid), solid shapes (cylinder, cuboid, cone, pyramid), and geometric transformation (reflection on the axis). The conclusion of this study shows that the structure of the mosque can function as a medium for learning mathematics based on culture that can increase learning interest and facilitate student understanding
