Abstract

This study aims to develop and measure the effectiveness of the andragogy-based writing skills model in improving the critical thinking skills of educators at SMAN 2 Cianjur. The training is designed as a transformation process, where educators are invited to realize their potential and habits in daily activities to build critical awareness. With the integration of technology in training, limited access to education and training in areas such as Cianjur can be overcome, expanding opportunities for digital literacy and collaboration between educators. A quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design was used in this study, where writing training was shown to improve teachers' writing and critical thinking skills. The trained teachers can produce articles, teaching materials, and documentation of good practices published on the Lentera Mahardika and PMM platforms. The study's results showed a significant improvement in writing skills and contribution to learning quality. This study emphasizes the importance of writing habits as a hobby for educators to strengthen innovation and relevance of education in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the participatory training organized by PKBM Maharani Sumedang and its impact on livelihood change and community empowerment. The training was specifically designed to restore the self-reliance of affected community members by equipping them with the skills to make shredded fish, which utilizes local natural resources. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, this study aimed to gain an in-depth understanding of the training process and outcomes. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, questionnaires and documentation to obtain comprehensive views from participants, trainers and community leaders. Triangulation was applied to ensure data reliability, while data were analyzed through reduction, display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The results showed that the training used a participatory approach in accordance with the needs, skill levels and resource potential of the local community. This approach not only actively involved participants but also tailored the training to realistic economic opportunities in the area. The training fosters self-reliance, allowing community members to use their newly acquired skills to create alternative livelihoods. By utilizing available fish resources, residents can now generate a sustainable income that complements the natural environment in the region. This initiative highlights a successful model for community-based training programs, demonstrating how participatory training can drive livelihood change and long-term resilience for communities affected by large-scale infrastructure projects.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an internship model based on andragogical principles to enhance the skills and competencies of non-vocational teachers. Andragogy focuses on adult learners' needs, leveraging their prior knowledge and experiences as the foundation for learning. The research follows a Research and Development (RD) approach, incorporating needs analysis, model design, development of teaching materials, and field trials. Non-vocational teachers from various schools and regions participated in the trials. Data were collected via observations, interviews, and questionnaires to assess the model's effectiveness and relevance. The findings show that the andragogical internship model provides a relevant and applicable learning experience for non-vocational teachers. It enhances both practical teaching skills and theoretical knowledge that can be applied directly in the classroom. This model offers a contextual and experience-based approach to teacher development, potentially improving the professionalism of non-vocational teachers. It presents an effective alternative to traditional teacher training, enhancing the quality of teaching and learning across different educational levels.

Abstract

Numeracy is foundational to academic success, yet many Indonesian primary school students struggle with mathematics under instruction that emphasises rote memorisation over conceptual understanding. This study examined the improvement in numeracy performance associated with the GASING (Gampang, Asyik, Menyenangkan / Easy, Enjoyable, Fun) method among primary school students and teachers in Bojonegoro District, Indonesia. A one-group pre-test–post-test design was employed with 97 students and 50 teachers who completed a 15-day intensive training programme covering five numeracy domains: number recognition, addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division. Performance was assessed using curriculum-aligned numeracy tests administered at pre-test and post-test. Paired-samples t-tests showed statistically significant gains across all domains. Students improved from a composite pre-test mean of 30.51 (SD = 17.55) to 83.08 (SD = 9.53), t(96) = 35.25, p < .001, Cohen's dz = 3.58, equivalent to a 2.72-fold gain; the largest domain gain was in division (6.28-fold). Teachers improved from 73.56 (SD = 13.11) to 97.70 (SD = 2.98), t(49) = 15.16, p < .001, dz = 2.14. Because the design included no control group, these results indicate improvement associated with the intervention rather than its isolated causal effect. The findings nonetheless suggest that the GASING method, delivered through an integrated teacher–student training model, is associated with substantial numeracy gains and with positive affective changes reported by participants.
