Abstract

Artificial intelligence based automated assessment systems have developed rapidly over the past decade; however, studies that integrate technological, pedagogical, socio-cultural, and ethical dimensions simultaneously remain limited. This study presents a multi-paradigmatic analysis of 24 articles published in Scopus Q1 and Q2 indexed journals between 2020 and 2025. Three research questions are posed: the types and capacities of emerging automated assessment systems, their pedagogical and ethical implications, and the evaluative framework required. The analysis identifies six categories of automated assessment systems, with a dominant shift toward large-scale language models in recent studies. The findings indicate that technical superiority does not necessarily guarantee fairness or pedagogical validity. Three fundamental ethical issues are consistently identified: linguistic discrimination, lack of system explainability, and the indispensable need for human oversight. In response, this study introduces the TAPE-H Framework (Technology, Assessment Theory, Pedagogy, Ethics, Human Oversight) as an integrative evaluative model that assesses automated assessment systems holistically, moving beyond accuracy based metrics alone.

Abstract

Team-Based Project (TBP) learning has gained prominence in engineering education as a means to develop both technical competencies and professional skills through collaborative engagement. Despite extensive documentation of TBP outcomes, limited research has explored the qualitatively different ways in which students understand and experience TBP, particularly within the distinct context of mechanical engineering education programs that integrate technical and pedagogical preparation. This study employs a phenomenographic research design to investigate mechanical engineering education students' qualitatively different ways of experiencing TBP. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 63 students at various academic stages across two universities in Indonesia. Analysis followed phenomenographic principles, identifying categories of description that capture qualitative variation in students' understanding, rather than reporting frequency distributions. Findings reveal four qualitatively distinct categories of description: (1) TBP as task completion, (2) TBP as collaborative skill-building, (3) TBP as professional preparation, and (4) TBP as transformative learning. These categories form an outcome space in which more sophisticated conceptions encompass awareness of collaborative processes, professional relevance, and critical reflection. Persistent structural challenges particularly inequitable workload distribution and coordination difficulties feature differently across categories. The study contributes context-specific insights into how TBP is understood in a technically and pedagogically hybrid engineering program, with implications for curriculum design, team formation, and instructor support strategies.

Abstract

This Systematic Literature Review (SLR) explores research trends on the ethics of generative AI use and how ethical issues are discussed within it, mapping geographical distribution and examining AI epistemic governance. This systematic literature review employs the PRISMA method, with a literature search conducted through the Scopus database, filtered based on keywords related to generative AI Ethics in Quartiles Q1 and Q2 and limited to the period 2020–2026, resulting in 39 articles for further analysis in this SLR. The research trend has continuously increased from year to year, and 2025 became the year with the highest number of studies addressing the ethics of generative AI use. This indicates a strengthening academic attention to ethical and epistemic issues in AI. The literature is dominated by themes of ethical concerns in the use of generative AI, such as bias, data privacy, transparency, accountability, misinformation, academic integrity, and cognitive dependence on generative AI. This study also finds that generative AI is most frequently positioned as a knowledge generator, while the combination of training data bias and cultural bias constitutes the most dominant epistemic issue. In the dimension of epistemic dependency, human dependence on AI is the most frequently discussed theme. This demonstrates growing concerns regarding the weakening of human autonomy, control, and cognitive capacity. From the perspective of authoritative actors, the scientific community occupies the strongest position, while multi-stakeholder governance emerges as the most widely supported governance model. These findings affirm that AI governance is understood as a complex issue that cannot be resolved by a single actor, but rather requires collaboration.

Abstract

Efficient warehouse layout management is a crucial factor in supporting smooth logistics operations. The Temporary Storage Warehouse (TPS) of PT XYZ currently applies a random storage system, resulting in high material handling distances, increased operational costs, and low space utilization. This study aims to redesign the warehouse layout using the class-based storage method combined with a block stacking system based on ABC analysis. The research method used is descriptive quantitative, with data collected through observation and interviews. The results show that the proposed layout reduces the material handling distance from 206,492 m/year to 147,970 m/year and decreases material handling costs from IDR 2,477,904 to IDR 1,775,640, achieving an efficiency of 28.34%. In addition, storage capacity increases from 250–300 packages to 400 packages. Therefore, the proposed warehouse layout design is proven to be more optimal in improving warehouse operational efficiency.

Abstract

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines the evolution and effectiveness of authentic assessment practices in vocational education, with a particular focus on automotive engineering programs from 2015 to 2024. Using the PRISMA protocol, we analyzed 17 studies to identify critical success factors, challenges in implementation, and the impact of authentic assessment on both technical competencies and soft skills development. Our analysis reveals three key findings: (1) institutions that adopted comprehensive, authentic assessment frameworks achieved significant improvements in both technical competencies (35% increase) and soft skills development (28% increase); (2) successful implementation was strongly correlated with three critical factors: structured stakeholder engagement (85% effectiveness), technology integration (78% success rate), and robust quality assurance mechanisms (92% implementation rate); and (3) assessment practices evolved from basic frameworks to sophisticated, technology-integrated systems, with implementation success rates improving from 45% to 90% over the studied period. These findings provide practical guidance for vocational institutions by presenting a comprehensive framework that integrates technological innovation with pedagogical best practices while aligning closely with industry needs. The study emphasizes the importance of authentic assessment in preparing students for modern workplace demands, especially in integrating both technical and soft skills. This research advances the theoretical understanding of authentic assessment in vocational education, highlighting its role in enhancing student outcomes and fostering industry alignment.
