Abstract

The aim of this study was to describe conceptual understanding and sciences process skills of students through inquiry-based learning. The study was conducted in form of one group pretest-posttest design. Thirty five students of chemistry education program of fkip untan participated. Result showed difference of sciences process skills and conceptual understanding of students, before and after inquiry based-learning. Sciences process skills of students improved from 0% to 52% and 16% to 40% on very skilled and skilled categories respectively. Furthermore, conceptual understanding of students improved from 15% to 89%. To conclude, inquiry-based learning was able to improve conceptual understanding and sciences process skills of students. Abstract

Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan keterampilan proses sains dalam praktikum titrasi asam basa. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan metode survei. Alat pengumpul data yang digunakan adalah kuesioner self-assessment, peer-assessment dan wawancara terstruktur. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 3 dan 4 SMA Negeri 5 Pontianak. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Siswa kelas XI IPA 4 terpilih sebagai sampel yang berjumlah 28 siswa. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu keterampilan proses sains pada aspek observasi sebesar 55,36% dengan kategori baik, aspek interpretasi sebesar 71,43% dengan kategori baik, aspek komunikasi sebesar 86,90% dengan kategori sangat baik, aspek merencanakan percobaan sebesar 64,29% dengan kategori baik, dan aspek menggunakan alat sebesar 74,05% dengan kategori sangat baik. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan persentase rata-rata keterampilan proses dasar lebih tinggi yaitu sebesar 71,23% dibandingkan dengan keterampilan proses terintegrasi sebesar 69,17%.   Kata kunci: keterampilan proses sains, nasional, warta, terkini, harian regional, self-assessment, peer-assessment   Abstract: The aim of this study was to describe the senior secondary student’s science process skills in acid-base titration practical work. The study was conducted as a descriptive design and used survey method. Self-assessment and peer-assessment questionnaire and structured interview were used as the data collector. The population in this study were eleventh grade students of science class III and IV SMA Negeri 5 Pontianak. Simple random sampling technique was used as the sample taker technique. 28 second year students of science class IV were chosen as the samples. The results showed that observing (55,36%) interpreting (71,43%) communicating (86,90%), designing experiment (64,29%), and using instrument (74,05%). The results also showed high persentage rate of basic (lower order) science process skills (71,23%) as compared to the integrated (higher order) science process skills (69,17%).   Keywords: science process skills, self-assessmen and peer-assessment

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui motivasi dan hasil belajar siswa pada tata nama senyawa di kelas X SMA Negeri 2 Sambas Kab.Sambas Provinsi Kalimantan Barat.Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah soal postest, angket motivasi dan lembar observasi.Subjek penelitian ini adalah 29 siswa.Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa ketuntasan belajar siswa mencapai 75%. Ketercapaian tersebut tergolong tinggi, demikian pula motivasi belajar siswa tergolong tinggi dengan skor sebesar 85,7%.   Kata kunci : Motivasi, Hasil belajar, Make a Match Abstract. The pupose of study was to determine the motivation and student learning outcomes on the nomenclature of the compounds in class X SMA Negeri 2 Sambas, West Kalimantan Kab.Sambas. The method of this study is classroom action research study design which consist of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Instruments used in this study were the posttest question sheet, motivation questionnaire and observation sheet. Twenty nine students were participate in this study. Result showed that students learning completeness reached 75%. The achievement is high, while the students' motivation is high with a score of 85.7%. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: 1) perbedaan antara hasil belajar siswa yang diajar menggunakan model make a match dengan siswa yang diajar menggunakan metode ceramah pada materi koloid, 2) pengaruh model make a match terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada materi koloid, 3) motivasi siswa terhadap model make a match pada materi koloid. Bentuk penelitian adalah eksperimen semu dengan rancangan penelitian nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Sampel penelitian ini adalah kelas XI IPA 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI IPA 1 sebagai kelas kontrol. Alat pengumpul data yang berupa tes hasil belajar dan angket motivasi siswa. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan antara hasil belajar siswa yang diajar menggunakan model make a match dengan hasil belajar siswa yang diajar menggunakan metode ceramah pada materi koloid. Nilai Effect size yang diperoleh adalah 0,53 dengan kategori sedang. Rata-rata motivasi siswa terhadap model make a match sebesar 79,92% tergolong sangat kuat. Kata kunci : make a match, motivasi, hasil belajar Abstract: The aims of this research was to determine: 1) differences in learning outcomes between students who were taught using make a match model and lecture method in colloid subject, 2) the effect of make a match model toward student learning outcomes in colloid subject, 3) the students motivation toward make a match model in colloid subject. The form of research was a quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The sample of this research were XI IPA 2 as experiment class and XI IPA 1 as control class. The data collection tools were the learning outcomes test and motivation questionnaire. The result of data analysis showed that there was difference in learning outcomes between students who were taught using make a match model and students who were taught using the lecture method in colloid subject. Effect size value earned was 0,53 with moderate category. The average of students motivation toward make a match model was 79,92% which categorized as strong level. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan motivasi dan hasil belajar antara siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan model Sains Teknologi Masyarakat dengan siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan model konvensional serta besarnya pengaruh pembelajaran model Sains Teknologi Masyarakat terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Jawai. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen semu dengan rancangan “Nonequivalent Control Group Design”. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIIA sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas VIIB sebagai kelas eksperimen. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan motivasi dan hasil belajar antara siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan model Sains Teknologi Masyarakat dengan siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan model konvensional diperoleh nilai p < 0,05 masing-masing sebesar 0,000 dan 0,045. Perhitungan effect size diperoleh 0,60 (sedang) yang menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan model Sains Teknologi Masyarakat memberikan pengaruh sebesar 22,58% terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar.   Kata Kunci: Model Sains Teknologi Masyarakat, Motivasi   Abstract: This research aims was to determine the differences of motivation and learning outcomes between students who were taught use Science Thecnology Society models with students who were taught use conventional models as well as the influence of Science Thecnology Society model with learning outcomes in class VII SMP Negeri 1 Jawai. The method used in this is quasi-experimental with “Nonequivalent Control Group Design”. The research samples were students in grade VIIA as control class and grade VIIB as experiment class. The result of data analysis showed that are differences in motivation and learning outcomes between students who were taught use Science Thecnology Society models with students who were taught use conventional models value earned was p-value < 0.05 respectively 0,000 and 0,045. Effect size calculation value earned was 0,06 (medium) Science Thecnology Society models gave 22.58% effect on increased student learning outcomes.   Keywords: Science Thecnology Society Model, Motivation

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini betujuan meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi persamaan reaksi melalui pembelajaran  berbasis masalah dengan media diagram submikroskopik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Subjek penelitian adalah 35 siswa kelas X MIA 1 SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Pontianak. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah angket, LKS, tes hasil belajar dan lembar observasi. Pemahaman konsep siswa diukur berdasarkan hasil tes individu dan diagram submikroskopik kelompok pada setiap siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa.Persentase siswa yang tuntas meningkat dari 2,94% pada pra siklus menjadi 44,12% pada siklus I dan 70,59% saat siklus II. Persentase kelompok yang dapat membuat diagram submikroskopik reaksi dengan tepat meningkat dari 42,86% saat siklus I menjadi 100% saat siklus II. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis masalah dengan media diagram submikroskopik dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa.   Kata kunci : pemahaman konsep, pembelajaran berbasis masalah, diagram submikroskopik Absract: The aim of this study was to enhance students’ conceptual understanding at chemical equation through problem based learning using submicroscopic diagrams. This study was presented as a classroom action research which was conducted in two cycles. The subject were 35 students of X class MIA 1 at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Pontianak.  The instruments of this study were questionnaires, student whorksheets, achievment test and observation sheet. Students’ conceptual understanding were measured according to students ability in answering the achievment test and drawing summicroscopic diagrams of group at each cycle . The result shows improvement of students’ conceptual understanding. Percentage of students who master concept increased from 2,94% to 44,12% at pre cycle to first cycle and from 44,12% to 70,59% at first cycle to seceond cycle. Percentage of groups who are able to draw submicroscopic diagrams of reaction correctly increased from 42.86% to 100% at first cycle to second cycle. The conclution of this study is the problem based learning through submicroscopic diagrams media improve the students’ conceptual understanding.   Key words : conceptual understanding, problem based learning, diagrams submicroscopic

Abstract

AbstractThe aims of this study were to determine the difference of students learning  achievement taught using TAI type with pop up KR-chart card media which taught using conventional learning, and to determine its effect toward  student learning achievement for the eleventh grade MIA students in SMA Negeri 2 Singkawang. This study used quasi experimental design. According to simple random sampling technique, two classes of eleventh grade MIA students in SMA Negeri 2 Singkawang, were selected as sample they were XI MIA 1 as experiment and XI MIA 2 as control class. The instrumens of collecting data in this research were learning achievement tests, observation sheets, and interview guidelines. The final test results data were analyzed using Whitney U-mann test which obtained the Sig. (2-Tailed) value of 0.001 < 0.05. The analysis results showed that there were differences in learning achievement between students taught using TAI type with pop-up KR-chart cards media and students taught using conventional models. Learning TAI with pop-up KR-chart card media on solubility and solubility product material had an effect of 32.89% on student learning achievement with an Effect Size value of 0.91 in which categorized high. Keywords:  Learning  Achievement, Pop Up Key-Relation Chart, Solubility and Solubility Product, Team Assisted Individualization

Abstract

AbstractThe aims of this research were to know how the feasibility and how teachers’s response on the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) assessment instrument on the aditif substance material. The form of this research was  research and development (R&D) with Borg and Gall developing model which had been simplified by Puslitjaknov team into 5 main phases. HOTS assessment instrument being developed consisted of HOTS  grids sheets problem in the form of essay, and HOTS scoring guidances (features) instrument. The  validated HOTS assessment instrument was tried out to the science teachers at SMPN 10 Pontianak, SMPN 12 Pontianak, and SMPN 16 Pontianak.The result of feasibility of HOTS assessment instrument was 93.72 %  which has high feasibility in the criterion so it was categorized very feasible used in the teaching learning process. The result of the teachers’s response questionnaring on the HOTS assessment instrument was 97.02 % which was very high in the criterion so it showed that teachers’s response on the HOTS assessment instrument was very good. Keywords:  Assessment Instrument, Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), Aditif Substance

Abstract

Abstract This research is conducted based on the finding of the low level of students’ critical thinking skills in chemistry subject. The purposes of this research are to determine whether there is a significant difference in critical thinking between those who were taught by applying problem solving learning model and those who were not in thermochemistry topic and determine the effect of problem solving learning model towards students’ critical thinking skills. This research used Non Randomize Control Group Design type of quasi- experimental design. The samples were taken using Random Sampling Technique with the result XI science A class was experiment group while XI science C was control group. According to Mann Whitney U test (α = 5%) and calculation of effect size, P-value was 0.001 and the effect was 0.81 respectively. These data show that there is a significant difference in critical thinking skills between those group and Problem Solving model has a large effect on improving students’ critical thinking skills. Abstract

AbstractThe aim of this study was to examine the effect of booklet towards achievement and responses of students of SMPN 23 Ponttianak concerning topics such as elements, compounds, and mixtures. The research was carried out using nonequvalent control group design. To this test and queshionarie were used as data collections tools. the participative of this study were students at VII H grade as control and VII H as experimental group. This study began with giving a pretest to both groups. In order determine students knowledge. After a pretest was given, each group get a different treatment. Experimental group was taught with booklet. Meanwhile, control group was taught without booklet. To check student final knowledge, a posttest was given. According to U Mann Whitteny test, there wa a significant diference of achievement between students on both classes. According calculation the effect size is 0,95, which means interpreted with a high category. Student’s response towards of booklet obtained a strong average rate of approval around 86,1%. Keywords:  Achievement, Booklet, Students Responses
