Abstract

Limbah jerami hasil pertanian yang cukup berlimpah cenderung kurang banyak dimanfaatkan oleh petani. Jerami yang dihasilkan akan dibakar kemudian lahan sawah akan langsung diolah untuk penanaman selanjutnya. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk melatih para petani mengolah jerami sebagai kompos dengan menggunakan teknik pengomposan Takakura, dan disertai dengan upaya menjaga kesehatan dan kesuburan lahan pertanian. Adapun metode yang digunakan yaitu ceramah, demonstrasi cara, serta pendampingan petani untuk mengidentifikasi kesuburan lahan secara sederhana dan evaluasi menggunakan pre test dan posttest. Hasil dari kegiatan ini, sebanyak 38% petani peserta mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan berkaitan dengan kesehatan tanah dan pembuatan kompos, rata-rata nilai pre test 72% dan rata-rata nilai posttest 78%. Hasil demonstrasi pengomposan jerami berhasil diperoleh pupuk kompos dalam jangka waktu 4 minggu setelah pengomposan.

Abstract

Proses panen yang kurang terampil dan minimnya pengetahuan mengenai kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja (K3), menjadi permasalahan yang dirasakan oleh KWT Ciharashas dalam praktik budidaya pertanian. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian dan pengembangan masyarakat (PPM) adalah untuk menyelenggarakan pelatihan dan pendampingan intensif bagi seluruh anggota KWT Ciharashas guna meningkatkan keterampilan dan pengetahuan dalam proses panen dan pascapanen dengan teknik ramah lingkungan dan efisien. Pada akhirnya kegiatan ini akan Mendorong peningkatan kesejahteraan petani melalui peningkatan kualitas hasil panen dan mengurangi kerugian pascapanen. Pendekatan kegiatan meliputi: lokakarya bersama pemangku kepentingan (Pemerintah Kelurahan Mulyaharja, PPL, Anggota KWT Ciharashas, dan warga), re-assessment terkait masalah dan kebutuhan prioritas terkait panen dan pascapanen, pelatihan fasilitasi penguatan kelembagaan kelompok pertanian organik : sortasi, grading, packaging, storage dan limbah pertanian, pendampingan proses penguatan kelembagaan kelompok pertanian organik, serta monitoring dan evaluasi kegiatan. Hasil dari kegiatan antara lain bahwa re-assessment menunjukkan penanganan saat panen dan proses panen belum semua anggota paham dan belum menerapkan prinsip K3 yang sesuai. Program pelatihan Good Handling Practices (GHP) dan sosialisasi aturan keselamatan di lahan menjadi program utama untuk menjawab permasalahan dan kebutuhan anggota KWT Ciharashas. Dalam kegiatan pelatihan inovasi yang dihasilkan berupa cardboard langkah GHP, tanam sayur-rawat bumi, keselamatan kerja dan aturan keselamatan di lahan KWT Ciharashas. Selain itu, pelatihan biocomposser dengan media bag composserjuga menjadi inovasi yang telah diterapkan oleh KWT Ciharashas. Program PPM terpusat dan terpadu Sekolah Vokasi di Mulyaharja merupakan rangkaian kegiatan lanjutan sebagai bentuk komitmen bersama dan stakeholder enggagementyang telah dibangun antara Sekolah Vokasi dengan KWT Ciharashas. Bentuk komitmen yang dibangun adalah menindaklanjuti roadmap pengabdian kepada masyarakat hingga 2027 melalui laboratorium sosial.

Abstract

The acceptance sampling test of coffee cherries is an important quality control stage in Arabica coffee processing, yet operational evidence at the estate level remains limited. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of acceptance sampling for coffee cherries and to identify the proportions of normal and defective cherries as a basis for improving harvest quality. The research was conducted at an Arabica coffee estate in Situbondo by observing monthly harvest samples from April to August 2024 to classify cherry color (red, partially ripe, green, and black) and fruit density after soaking (partially empty, empty, single bean, and double bean). The results showed that the cherry composition consisted of 93.63% red, 3.54% partially ripe, 0.09% green, and 2.84% black cherries. The density test results indicated 4.30% partially empty cherries, 0.79% empty cherries, 10.27% single-bean cherries, 84.58% double-bean cherries, and 4.00% coffee berry borer-infested cherries. These findings indicate that acceptance sampling is useful for identifying harvest lots that do not meet quality standards and can serve as a basis for improving red cherry picking practices, harvest timing, and field supervision.

Abstract

The agricultural sector in the city of Surabaya makes a relatively small contribution considering the limited agricultural land due to land conversion in urban areas and population density which is increasing every year. Urban farming can be an alternative solution to achieve food sovereignty amidst the problem of limited land in urban areas. This research aims to describe the internal and external factors that influence the development of urban farming communities in Kutisari Village. This research uses a combined qualitative and quantitative research approach (mix methods). Data collection methods were obtained from observation, interviews, documentation, questionnaires, and literature studies/related literature. The target of the research is the urban farming community. The results of the research show that internal factors at the level of education are in the middle category (SMA) and are included in the middle class of society in Surabaya UMK income. The majority of community members are men with main jobs as private employees in the productive age range of 40-49 years. External factors on access to information and accountability are in the high category with community participation in the medium category. Supporting facilities in the form of public facility land in Kutisari Village also support these activities.

Abstract

Good Agricultural Pratice merupakan merupakan serangkaian upaya untuk menghasilkan produk bermutu, aman dikonsumsi serta mencakup penerapan teknologi ramah lingkungan yang telah ditetapkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penyebab dan permasalahan yang menjadi tantangan bagi petani Desa Cikancana sehingga produktivitas hasil panen menurun. Penelitian menggunakan penelitian mixed method yaitu penggabungan antara penelitian kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Metode pengumpulan data diperoleh dari observasi lapang, wawancara, kuesioner, dokumentasi, dan literatur/studi pustaka. Teknik pengambilan data responden dilakukan dengan menggunakan sensus seluruh kelompok tani Mekar Kencana 1. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor internal penurunan hasil produktivitas cabai di Desa Cikancana disebabkan oleh perilaku petani yang tidak menerapkan GAP pada budidaya cabai. Setelah dilakukannya pemberdayaan mengenai teknik  GAP yang baik dan benar perlahan – lahan hasil cabai di Desa Cikancana mulai meningkat. GAP dapat berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan produktivitas cabai, peningkatan pengetahuan petani, serta keterampilan petani mengenai pemahaman dan implementasi pada budidaya cabai.

Abstract

Budidaya hidroponik merupakan salah satu sistem budidaya pada kegiatan urban farming. Budidaya hidroponik dapat menjadi upaya dalam mewujudkan ketahanan pangan di wilayah perkotaan yang mendukung SDG’s nomor 2 yaitu mengakhiri kelaparan. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui kendala dalam budidaya hidro-ponik, meningkatkan pengetahuan dan minat, mengetahui dampak pendampingan serta mengetahui pendapat terkait budidaya hidroponik untuk ketahanan pangan. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data yaitu observasi, wawancara, FGD, pre test post test, kuesioner dan dokumentasi. Komunitas sasaran pada penelitian yaitu Kelompok Tani Anggrek dengan jumlah anggota 19 orang dan Kelompok Tani Sawi dengan jumlah anggota 14 orang. Terdapat 2 informan tambahan yaitu PPL dan Ketua Pelaksana Harian Rumah Pintar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok tani belum optimal dalam budidaya hidroponik karena kurangnya pemahaman, minimnya pendampingan dan penggunaan pupuk serta benih yang kurang tepat. Terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan kelompok tani sebesar 51,52% yang disebabkan karena adanya penyuluhan. Sebagian besar responden setuju bahwa budidaya hidroponik menjadi solusi tepat untuk mewujudkan ketahanan pangan serta pendampingan memberikan dampak positif bagi kelompok dan individu.

Abstract

Postharvest handling of leafy vegetables, such as kale (Brassica oleracea var. acephala), is crucial for maintaining product quality and market value. This study aims to review the application of sorting and grading processes in improving the quality of horticultural products. The method used is a literature review of scientific journals and relevant references related to postharvest handling of vegetables. The findings indicate that sorting functions to separate damaged and unmarketable products based on physical condition, while grading classifies products into quality categories based on size, shape, and visual appearance. These processes contribute to reducing postharvest losses, improving product uniformity, and increasing market value. Furthermore, proper sorting and grading support quality control and enhance efficiency in distribution and marketing systems. Therefore, sorting and grading are essential components of postharvest management to ensure product quality and market competitiveness.

Abstract

Hydroponic cultivation of mustard greens (Brassica juncea L.) in greenhouses is an effective alternative for overcoming land limitations, particularly in urban areas. Hydroponic systems enable plants to obtain nutrients optimally through the application of the Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) and Deep Flow Technique (DFT), thereby promoting more efficient plant growth. In addition, the success of hydroponic mustard cultivation is influenced by environmental control, including temperatures ranging from 15–35°C and relative humidity levels of 70–90%. Plant nutrient requirements are supplied through an AB Mix nutrient solution with a pH range of 5.5–6.5 and an electrical conductivity (EC) value of 1.5–3.0 mS/cm. This review aims to analyze various factors affecting the growth of hydroponic mustard greens, including nutrient management, environmental conditions, and biological pest and disease control using beneficial agents such as Trichoderma and Bacillus. Furthermore, this study discusses several technical and economic challenges that may influence cultivation success. The findings indicate that hydroponic systems can significantly improve crop productivity and yield quality, reduce the use of chemical pesticides, and support the implementation of sustainable and environmentally friendly urban agriculture in Indonesia.

Abstract

Chili pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) is recognized as one of the horticultural commodities with significant economic value and an important contribution to food security in Indonesia. However, conventional cultivation practices still face various challenges, including limited land availability, climate uncertainty, and disturbances from plant pests and diseases. These conditions highlight the need for the implementation of innovative technologies to improve production efficiency while maintaining yield stability. One approach that has been increasingly developed is the hydroponic system, a cultivation technique that does not rely on soil as a growing medium but instead utilizes nutrient solutions as the primary source of essential elements. This article aims to examine various aspects of hydroponic chili cultivation, including the roles and benefits of the plant, different types of hydroponic systems, abiotic and biotic stress factors, and cultivation management strategies. Based on the review conducted, hydroponic systems, when supported by optimal nutrient management and environmental conditions, are capable of enhancing both the yield and quality of chili plants. Therefore, the development of hydroponic-based chili cultivation is considered to have promising prospects as a solution to support sustainable agriculture in the future.

Abstract

The consistent decline in cucumber production in Indonesia indicates limitations in conventional cultivation systems, particularly due to land scarcity and inefficient resource management. This condition has encouraged the development of hydroponic systems as a more controlled and productive cultivation alternative. This study aims to critically analyze the key factors determining the success of hydroponic cucumber cultivation and to identify the most influential management aspects in improving yield. The method employed is a literature review, examining various recent studies related to hydroponic systems, nutrient management, growing media, and environmental factors. The results show that the advantages of hydroponics lie not only in land and water efficiency but also in the ability to precisely control growth variables. However, optimal productivity highly depends on the proper integration of nutrient management, particularly the regulation of pH, electrical conductivity (EC), and nutrient balance, as well as the control of environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and light intensity. Inaccuracy in a single component can significantly reduce plant performance, even when other factors are optimal. Therefore, an integrated approach combining nutrient and environmental management simultaneously is essential to enhance hydroponic cucumber productivity. This study confirms that hydroponics has strong potential as a strategic solution to support sustainable agriculture amid land limitations in Indonesia.
