Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the impact of COVID-19 pandemic dynamics in the Entikong land border area between Indonesia and Malaysia, and how they may change as the virus becomes endemic. The Entikong region is highly susceptible to the spread of COVID-19 due to its significant cross-border traffic and trade. The exploratory descriptive method was employed, with primary data (interviews) and secondary data from desk review results related to the COVID-19 situation and its impact on communities in the border areas of the country. This study examines the impact of socio-economic situations on the spread of the virus. The findings suggest that the economic activity of the people in the Entikong region has been disrupted since the implementation of the border access closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This economic activity is regulated by the Border Trade Agreement (BTA), which has been in place since the 1970s, allowing economic activities in both regions of Indonesia and Malaysia. The pandemic has forced the border region to close all access to and from goods and people. However, our results also indicate that the region may be better equipped to manage the virus as it becomes endemic. The implications of our findings for policymakers and public health officials are discussed, emphasizing the need for ongoing monitoring and response efforts in the Entikong land border area. This study contributes to the existing literature on the impact of COVID-19 in border regions and provides insights that can guide policymakers in their efforts to mitigate the pandemic's impact on communities living in border regions.

The research employs a qualitative approach, such as observation, interviews, and document analysis. By engaging with local communities, religious leaders, and women themselves, this study seeks to uncover the multifaceted roles women play within religious institutions and the broader society. The findings shed light on the ways in which women negotiate their religious identities, practices, and responsibilities, as well as the challenges they encounter in their pursuit of social change. The study also examines the impact of globalization and transnational connections on the construction of women's religious roles, exploring how women in Batam City are influenced by and respond to global trends and ideas. Furthermore, the research addresses the power dynamics at play within religious institutions and how they shape women's experiences and opportunities for social transformation. It investigates the agency exercised by women in religious leadership roles and grassroots initiatives, highlighting the strategies they employ to challenge existing gender norms and advocate for gender equality.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Kematian, Sosiologi Kematian, KesedihanThis book gives space to interpret death deeply. I think that today's life, which is full of world progress, needs to reflect on how life is interpreted. In some of our societies, death is a sacred tradition. Death is considered sad, heart-wrenching news and therefore we should grieve. When close family, friends, or people we know pass away, we are more accustomed to crying and grieving. It is natural that the person left behind will feel sad and his heart hurts. Keywords: Death, Sociology of death, Grief

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the relationship between family role dysfunction and stunting among toddlers in East Tanjungpinang, Tanjungpinang City, Riau Islands. Family role dysfunction is one of the potential factors causing stunting in toddlers. Stunting among toddlers is a significant public health issue in Indonesia, particularly in economically disadvantaged and underdeveloped areas. This study employs a qualitative descriptive design. Data were collected through interviews and observations. The research findings indicate the occurrence of family role dysfunction, including the inability to provide attention and support to children, the inability to fulfill the nutritional and health needs of children, and the inability to provide appropriate stimulation and interaction based on the child's age. This study recommends efforts to enhance the family's role in supporting the growth and development of children, particularly in terms of fulfilling the nutritional and health needs of children and providing age-appropriate stimulation. Furthermore, there is a need for health education to raise awareness among the community regarding the importance of the family's role in supporting child growth and development. Abstract

This research aims to understand the indigenous women's knowledge of post-mining livelihoods in Pulau Dompak and how that knowledge is neglected in decision-making by the government and mining companies. The research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and document studies. The results show that indigenous women have extensive and profound knowledge about post-mining livelihoods based on their experiences and traditional knowledge. However, their knowledge is often disregarded in decision-making related to post-mining reclamation by the government and mining companies. Women's involvement in decision-making is also limited due to patriarchal social structures in indigenous communities. This research recommends the need for recognition and protection of the traditional rights of indigenous women in decision-making related to post-mining reclamation, as well as efforts to reduce gender disparities in decision-making involvement.

Abstract

The issue of women today is closely related to the issue of poverty. Women who inhabit rural areas in Indonesia cannot be separated from the conditions of life that are poor and completely limited. This paper presents the role of Dayak Mali women in preserving nature and their traditions, even though their lives are still below the poverty line. This paper uses feminist ethnography research methods. Sources of data derived from primary data (interviews and observations) and secondary data from the results of the desk review. Secondary data collection through the collection of reading the results of scientific studies in the form of journal articles, policy papers and data from line ministries and institutions. Indigenous women in Indonesia, in general, face not only cultural and structural poverty but also multidimensional poverty, where there are indicators such as; social dimensions, education, health, and quality of life that are not accessible to women. On Dayak Mali women still maintain traditions such as; feed the soil, forests and plants, and animals. Then the ritual excuse to nature before opening the land to farm, before building a house, and after harvesting rice. This tradition shows that the close life between humans and nature is still intertwined. This means that the ecological and women's traditions have existed for hundreds of years in the Dayak Mali Dayak in West Kalimantan.
