Abstract

Demographic changes in Indonesia indicate a significant increase in the elderly population each year, leading to the emergence of various social issues such as poverty, violent behavior, neglect, and the elderly's dependence on others. Fulfilling the daily needs of the elderly is a crucial step in enhancing their well-being, with the family playing a central role in providing support. Elderly individuals undergo significant physical, psychological, and social changes as they age, increasing their need for a place of refuge and love, particularly from their families. Therefore, this research aims to explore the role of the Social Services Department in improving the welfare of neglected elderly individuals in Tanjungpinang. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data is gathered through interviews and documentation. Interview results are guided by interview protocols. This study identifies a range of factors that lead to elderly neglect before their admission to the Happy House Embung Fatimah, managed by the Tanjungpinang City Social Services Department. These factors encompass family issues, economic challenges, social environment concerns, and health problems. The Happy House Embung Fatimah serves as a specialized institution dedicated to caring for elderly individuals without family support. The findings of this research will provide valuable insights into efforts to enhance the well-being of neglected elderly individuals and the role of the Social Services Department in this context

Abstract

This study aims to identify the conditions of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Pengudang Village using a SWOT analysis approach. MSMEs play a vital role in supporting the local economy and creating employment opportunities for the village community; however, their sustainability is often challenged by various internal and external factors. Employing a qualitative method and in-depth interview techniques, data were collected from MSME owners and relevant stakeholders. SWOT analysis was used to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats affecting the development of MSMEs in this area. The findings reveal that MSMEs in Pengudang Village benefit from strengths such as access to local resources, including raw materials and labor, as well as support from the local community. However, weaknesses in access to capital, technology, and managerial skills remain significant obstacles. Opportunities arise from the growth of local tourism and demand for local products, yet threats emerge from intense competition with products from outside the region and limited infrastructure. Based on these findings, the study recommends efforts to enhance capacity and provide sustained support from the government and related institutions to strengthen the competitiveness of MSMEs in Pengudang Village.

Utilizing a non-systematic literature review method, the research aims to uncover the meanings and significance of ecological rituals for indigenous women in Indonesia. The study critically evaluates relevant literature, identifying key themes and patterns related to these rituals within cultural, social, and environmental contexts. Results indicate that indigenous women exhibit strong resilience during the pandemic, rooted in communal living and close community bonds. Social restrictions have minimal impact on their traditional activities, and various rituals serve as effective coping mechanisms, fostering psychological well-being. This research contributes to understanding the ecological knowledge, practices, and beliefs of indigenous women, offering insights for sustainable development and conservation efforts.

Abstract

The book Melacak Jejak Telinga Panjang: Antropologi Fotografi by Ati Bachtiar combines anthropological approaches and photographic art to explore the visual representation of Dayak women. Through the lens of ethnographic photography, this book delves into the cultural significance and identity associated with a nearly vanished cultural practice. The visual analysis demonstrates how photography can serve as a crucial tool in documenting social transformations while preserving cultural heritage. This work offers a fresh contribution to the discourse of visual anthropology by presenting a critical perspective on the relationship between the body, tradition, and photographic documentation.

Abstract

Pupose: This PKM activity aims to explore the potential of the environment in stunting prevention efforts in Berakit Village, Bintan Regency. Methodology: The methods used were socialization and lectures. Data was collected from various sources, including families with children under five, health workers, and community leaders. Results: The results of this PKM show that utilizing yard land to grow vegetables and fruits, as well as freshwater fish farming, can improve children's nutritional intake. In addition, health education programs that actively involve the community have proven effective in increasing knowledge and awareness about the importance of balanced nutrition. Environmental factors, such as the availability of clean water and good sanitation, also play a significant role in stunting prevention. Conclusion: Maximum utilization of local environmental potential and active community participation are the keys to success in reducing the prevalence of stunting in Berakit Village, Bintan Regency. Limitations: Although the stunting prevention program in Berakit Village has shown positive results, there are still some limitations, such as limited resources, funding sustainability, and challenges in changing the mindset of the community as a whole. In addition, the long-term effectiveness of this intervention still needs to be further evaluated. Contribution: The results of this PKM can be a reference for local governments and other stakeholders in designing stunting prevention strategies based on environmental potential.

Abstract

Tanjung Balai Karimun is recognized as a high-risk disaster zone within the Riau Islands Province, with notable vulnerability to both natural and social hazards. These hazards not only result in immediate damage to physical infrastructure and economic systems but also exert a profound impact on the social welfare of the local population. In addressing these multidimensional challenges, the Social Affairs Office of Karimun Regency particularly in the management and distribution of logistical aid to disaster-affected communities. This activity seeks to examine and describe the functions and initiatives of the Social Affairs Office in coordinating logistical support for victims of natural and social disasters in the region. The primary emphasis is placed on understanding how the office operates as a central coordinator to ensure that aid is delivered efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with the specific needs of survivors. The community service program was conducted through direct field engagement, allowing for an in-depth assessment of the aid distribution mechanisms. Findings indicate that the Social Affairs Office assumes a central position in coordinating the provision of essential resources, including food supplies, medical assistance, and psychosocial support. Nevertheless, several operational challenges persist—chief among them being delays in aid shipments from the Ministry of Social Affairs, which significantly hinder the timeliness of emergency response efforts and compromise the ability to address the immediate needs of affected populations.

Abstract

This study aims to understand how solidarity is formed and maintained among members of the Boy Group Seventeen fan community, Carat Indonesia, on social media X (formerly Twitter,we use the term "social media platform X" throughout this manuscript) despite the anonymity of interactions. It explores the paradox of solidarity emerging without personal identity disclosure, challenging the conventional notion that solidarity is trust-based. This study employs a qualitative method with a netnography approach to provide an in-depth analysis of solidarity dynamics in online communities. Informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique to provide relevant insights into this phenomenon. The study reveals that anonymous identities do not hinder the formation of trust among Indonesian Carat members on social media X. Instead, trust is built by assessing the track record of account owners. The solidarity that emerges aligns with Durkheim’s concept of mechanical solidarity, which is characterized by shared interests, low division of labor, high collective consciousness, and repressive norms. This study focused solely on the Carat Indonesia community on social media platform X, limiting its generalizability to other online fan communities. Additionally, reliance on online observations and interactions may not fully capture offline aspects of solidarity. This study contributes to the understanding of online community solidarity by demonstrating how trust and cohesion can be established despite anonymity. This extends Durkheim’s theory of social solidarity to digital interactions, providing insights into the mechanisms of mechanical solidarity in contemporary online spaces.
