Abstract

ABSTRAK Anak-anak yang mengalami anemia kekurangan zat besi (Iron Deficiency Anemia /IDA) berdampak pada proses tumbuh kembang dan berpengaruh terhadap perkembangan neurologisnya. Studi ini bertujuan untuk menambah pemahaman terkait intervensi kesehatan yang dapat dilakukan pada anak dengan IDA. Studi telaah pustaka ini dilakukan dengan menyusun pertanyaan klinis dan melakukan penelusuran artikel ilmiah di pubmed sehingga ditemukan 3 artikel ilmiah yang paling sesuai. Hasil studi telaah pustaka menunjukkan bahwa intervensi kesehatan pada anak dengan IDA membutuhkan pendekatan melalui unit emergency untuk selanjutnya diberikan manajemen terapi seperti micronutrient powder (MNP) dengan dosis berdasarkan hasil pengkajian anak. Manajemen terapi pada anak dengan IDA dapat berjalan optimal dengan melibatkan orangtua atau adanya dukungan keluarga.

Abstract

Background: Stunting is a condition of growth failure in children resulting from malnutrition for a long time since the first 1000 days of life. One of the factors causing stunting is chronic malnutrition so that children have a small height for their age. This stunting condition will have an impact on children's health, such as impaired brain development, cognitive development, growth faltering, and low immune system. Stunting treatment is carried out starting from the first 1000 days of a child’s life until the child is 6 years old. Providing complementary food is also one of the specific nutritional interventions in the program to accelerate stunting management. Complementary food has an important role in improving the quality of health in order to optimize children's growth and development from the age of 6 months. Objectives: This research aims to explore mothers experience in providing complementary food to stunted children.Methods: This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive phenomenological design. Participants were selected using purposive sampling techniques, resulting in 6 participants. The research data was analyzed thematically using the Colaizzi method. Results: This research found themes, namely: 1) The mother's feelings when the child was first discovered to be stunted, 2) The causes of stunting, 3) The age at which the child was discovered to be stunted, 4) History of complementary food, 5) Handling of stunting, 6) Support in caring for the child with stunting. Conclusions: Knowledge about mothers' experiences in providing MP-ASI to stunted children will help to determine appropriate interventions to improve the quality of life for stunted children. Education about giving complementary food to children with stunting conditions must be optimized to reduce the incidence of stunting in children in Indonesia, especially in Riau.

Abstract

Reproductive health literacy is a foundational element in promoting sustainable public health, particularly among adolescents. Despite its importance, global and national studies consistently report low literacy levels in this domain. This cross-sectional study aimed to assess the reproductive health literacy of junior high school students in Pekanbaru, Indonesia, with a specific focus on gender-based disparities. A total of 323 students were purposively selected and surveyed using a highly reliable instrument adapted from the Health Literacy Measure for Adolescents (HELMA), which evaluates five key domains: accessing, reading, understanding, appraising, and applying health information. Findings revealed that 91.02% of respondents fell into the “inadequate” literacy category, with no participants achieving an “excellent” level. Gender analysis showed that 95.04% of male and 87.91% of female students were classified as having inadequate literacy, while only 3.72% reached a “sufficient” level. Although female students exhibited slightly higher proportions in the “problematic” and “sufficient” categories, the overall literacy remained critically low across both genders. Domain-specific analysis indicated stronger conceptual understanding among adolescents but significant weaknesses in functional and critical literacy skills. This study contributes novel insights by documenting lower literacy levels than previously reported in national and international contexts, and by offering a detailed breakdown across literacy domains. The results underscore the urgency of implementing targeted, domain-based, and gender-sensitive educational interventions. Furthermore, the findings advocate for a locally grounded, collaborative approach involving schools, healthcare providers, families, and digital media to cultivate a supportive information ecosystem that empowers adolescents in making informed reproductive health decisions.

Abstract

Tingkat kecemasan anak prasekolah yang dirawat inap dapat dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor salah satunya adalah perilaku caring perawat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan perilaku caring perawat dengan tingkat kecemasan anak prasekolah yang dirawat inap. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain deskriptif korelasi dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Sampel penelitian adalah 71 responden menggunakan teknik total sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner PSNCQQ dan SCAS yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis uji chi square. Hasil penelitian didapatkan 42,3% perilaku caring perawat baik dan 40,8% anak prasekolah yang dirawat inap mengalami kecemasan sedang. Hasil uji chi square menunjukkan terdapat hubungan antara perilaku caring perawat dengan tingkat kecemasan anak prasekolah yang dirawat inap (p value 0,000 <  0,05). Perilaku caring perawat memengaruhi tingkat kecemasan anak sehingga perawat yang memiliki perilaku caring yang baik akan menurunkan kecemasan anak prasekolah yang dirawat inap. Perawat di masa depan diharapkan dapat mengoptimalkan perilaku caring melalui pemberian informasi tindakan perawatan yang jelas, sikap ramah, serta responsif terhadap kebutuhan anak dan orang tua.

Abstract

Household waste management remains a challenge in urban areas, including Bencah Lesung Village. The increasing volume of waste without proper management can negatively impact the environment and public health. A study found thatmost residents of RW 6 still burn waste as the primary method of reducing household waste volume. This activityaims to improve the knowledge and skills of RW 6 residents in processing organic waste into compost and inorganic waste into ecobricks as an environmentally friendly waste management alternative. The implementation method was carried out through education, demonstrations, and direct assistance to residents, with pre-test and post-test evaluations on 15 respondents. The results of the activity showed an increase in community understanding of sustainable waste management and the ability to make ecobricks and compost. The average pre-test score of 7.27 increased to 9.20 in thepost-test, with an increase in knowledge of 33.3% of the 15 respondents. Conclusion, this education, demonstration, and mentoring program was proven to be effective in improving the knowledge and skills of the RW 6 community in sustainable waste management through composting and ecobrick production as an effort to create a cleaner and healthier environment.This activity is expected to be a concrete step towards a clean, healthy, and efficient environment in RW 6, and has been proven to increase community knowledge and skills in sustainable waste management.

Abstract

Adolescents represent a strategic group in the prevention of intergenerational stunting, particularly in Pekanbaru, which faces nutritional and health behavior challenges. This community engagement initiative is part of the Generasi Lancang Kuning program, aimed at fostering healthy and empowered youth through educational approaches. The intervention included nutrition education via interactive games and training in nutritional status screening for junior high school students. Pre-test results indicated that adolescents had a high level of nutritional knowledge (76.67%), with an average score of 11,23. An 8.64% rise in the average score reflects the effectiveness of the learning approach implemented, suggesting enhanced literacy and engagement among participants. Nutritional status data revealed that 47% of participants were underweight and 13% were obese. Participants demonstrated the ability to conduct nutritional screenings and categorize their peers’ nutritional status independently. Through the “Isi Piringku” game, they also showed competence in selecting food items that meet balanced nutrition criteria. Evaluation findings suggest that game-based methods enhanced adolescents’ understanding and boosted their confidence in disseminating nutritional information among peers. These capabilities are expected to support their continued role as peer educators within the Generasi Lancang Kuning program, contributing to promotive and preventive efforts to reduce stunting risk among adolescents.

Abstract

Inadequate access to culturally sensitive sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information increases adolescents’ vulnerability to misinformation, risky sexual behaviors, and underutilization of SRH services, particularly in sociocultural contexts where sexuality remains taboo. This study examines sexual and reproductive health literacy (SRHL), risky sexual behaviours and the socio-cultural and institutional factors shaping adolescent SRH experiences. A convergent parallel mixed-methods study was conducted among 994 adolescents aged 11-21 years in Pekanbaru, Indonesia (May-October 2025). Quantitative data were collected using demographic forms, a modified SRHL questionnaire, and a validated Adolescent Sexual Behavior Degree Index, while qualitative data were obtained through focus group discussions and in-depth interviews with teachers, school counselors, healthcare providers, and community leaders. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively and using chi-square tests, while qualitative data using Colaizzi’s thematic analysis. Most adolescents had inadequate SRHL (92.5%), and 53.3% reported high-risk sexual behaviours. No significant association was found (p = 0.083). Themes included adolescent vulnerability, limited school capacity to address complex adolescent issues; and gaps in educational strategies related to digital media influence, and cultural modernization. These findings highlight the need for culturally grounded, comprehensive SRH education and cross-sector collaboration, with nurses playing a key role in supporting informed adolescent health decision-making.

Abstract

Adolescents are vulnerable to nutritional problems due to unhealthy eating habits and insufficient physical activity. Sedentary behavior and lack of balanced nutrition knowledge may be related to adolescent nutritional status. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between sedentary behavior and balanced nutrition knowledge with nutritional status among adolescents. The study used a cross-sectional design on 106 adolescents with proportional stratified random sampling. Instruments included ASAQ questionnaire for sedentary behavior, balanced nutrition knowledge questionnaire, and anthropometric measurements of nutritional status based on BMI/A z-score using WHO Anthro Plus. Analysis used Spearman Rho test. Results showed that the majority of respondents were 14 years old (35.8%), female (52.8%), participating in extracurricular activities (69.8%). High category sedentary behavior (59.4%) averaged 6.31 hours/day. Nutrition knowledge was poor category (53.8%). Nutritional status was mostly normal (64.2%), with distribution of severe malnutrition (0.9%), undernutrition (8.5%), overweight (18.9%), obesity (7.5%). There was no significant relationship between sedentary behavior and nutritional status (p=0.315) and balanced nutrition knowledge with nutritional status (p=0.449). These results indicate that sedentary behavior is not related to nutritional status because it is influenced by social media and family factors. Nutrition knowledge is not related to nutritional status because adolescents find it difficult to apply knowledge due to peer influence and environment.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Hospitalisasi adalah pengalaman anak saat menjalani suatu proses perawatan dan tinggal di rumah sakit karena alasan kesehatan atau keadaan darurat sampai anak pulang ke rumah kembali. Tujuan: Penelitin bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan tingkat kecemasan anak usia prasekolah yang menjalani hospitalisasi, meliputi usia, jenis kelamin, lama rawat, pengalaman hospitalisasi, serta perilaku caring perawat. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Sampel berjumlah 126 responden yang diambil menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner Caring Profesional Scale (CPS) dan Spence Children’s Anxiety Scale Parent Report (SCAS) yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya Analisis yang digunakan menggunakan uji Chi-Square. Hasil: Hasil analisis uji chi-square, diperoleh nilai p value < α (0,05) yang menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara faktor lama rawat (0,008), usia (0,043), pengalaman hospitalisasi (0,001), serta perilaku caring perawat (0,000). Namun jenis kelamin tidak menunjukkan hubungan yang signifikan (0,721). Kesimpulan: Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa usia, lama rawat, pengalaman hospitalisasi, dan perilaku caring perawat berhubungan dengan tingkat kecemasan, sedangkan jenis kelamin tidak menunjukkan hubungan yang signifikan.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Air merupakan komponen penting bagi tubuh manusia, yang berperan dalam berbagai fungsi vital, termasuk menjaga keseimbangan cairan tubuh, mengatur suhu tubuh, dan mendukung fungsi organ. Kebutuhan cairan yang cukup sangat penting, terutama bagi anak-anak usia sekolah yang sedang dalam masa pertumbuhan dan aktivitas fisik yang tinggi. Dehidrasi pada anak sekolah dapat menyebabkan gangguan konsentrasi, penurunan daya tahan tubuh, kelelahan, dan dampak negatif lainnya terhadap kesehatan serta prestasi belajar. Oleh karena itu, penting untuk memberikan edukasi tentang pentingnya hidrasi yang cukup guna mencegah dehidrasi dan mendukung kesehatan anak-anak di sekolah. Tujuan: Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa dan kebiasaan hidrasi melalui edukasi menggunakan media PowerPoint dan buku saku di SDN 166 Sri Meranti, Kecamatan Rumbai, Pekanbaru. Metode: Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini melibatkan 30 siswa kelas 4 yang mengikuti edukasi dan skrining warna urin. Penilaian dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test dengan kuesioner serta pengukuran kepekatan warna urin sebelum dan sesudah edukasi. Hasil: Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata skor pengetahuan siswa dari 67,33 pada pre-test menjadi 71,67 pada post-test. Skrining urin juga menunjukkan penurunan rata-rata kepekatan warna urin dari 3,7 menjadi 3,1, yang mencerminkan perbaikan kebiasaan hidrasi siswa. Kesimpulan: Edukasi menggunakan media powerpoint dan buku saku efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kebiasaan minum air putih siswa. Program ini memberikan dampak positif pada kesehatan dan konsentrasi belajar siswa, serta mendorong pembentukan pola hidup sehat dengan cukup minum air putih.
