Abstract. This study aims to describe the grammatical interpretation in elong Ugi Mappadendang by using Frederich Schleirmacher's Hermeneutics theory. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The source of the research is elong Ugi Mappadendang which was created by Abdullah Alamudi and Andi Siti Nurhani Sapada, while the object of the research is the words and phrases in the text that are included in Frederich Schleirmacher's Hermeneutics theory. The results of the study indicate that there is a grammatical interpretation through the existence of parables, repetition, emphasis and word linkages that describe the Bugis people who are diligent and work hard to fulfill their needs in order to survive, regarding previous beliefs in the existence of Gods who give blessings and salvation, and the imposition is mandatory and brings goodness and the participation of the Bugis community in carrying out the Mappadendang tradition so that the preservation of the Mappadendang tradition grows in the Bugis community.Keywords: Grammatical Interpretation, Hermeneutics, Mappadendang

Abstract. This study aims to describe the manifestation of character education values based on the guidelines for strengthening character education in 2018 contained in the literary text of the Indonesian Language Book Class VII SMP/MTs Curriculum 2013 revision 2017. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method. The data of this research are literary texts in Indonesian Language Book Class VII SMP/MTs Curriculum 2013 revision 2017 namely fantasy texts, folk poetry texts, and fable texts. The data collection technique used in this research is library research and documents. The results of the study show that 1) The form of character education values based on the guidelines for strengthening character education in 2018 in the fantasy story text of Indonesian Language Book Class VII SMP/MTs Curriculum 2013 there are five character education values with fifteen sub-values. The values of character education in the fantasy text of the book include religious, nationalist, independent, mutual cooperation, and integrity values. 2) In folk poetry there are four values of character education with ten sub-values. The values of character education in the text of the book's folk poetry include religious, nationalist, independent, and integrity values. 3) In the fable text there are five values of character education with twenty sub-values. The form of character education values in the book's fable text includes religious, nationalist, independent, mutual cooperation, and integrity values.Keywords: Education, Character, Literary Text

Abstract. This study aims to: Analyze the semantic, syntactic, stylistic, and rhetorical elements of the covid-19 pandemic news text on the online mass media Fajar.co.id. This type of research is descriptive qualitative, the basis of the research using the critical discourse analysis method of Teun a Van Dijk. This research was conducted on the online mass media Fajar.co.id. It is one of the online mass media portals originating from the city of Makassar which is well known and considered to have actual and accurate news, this is proven by the number of public access that has reached tens of thousands of readers within 3 days. As of March-April 2021, researchers have received 30 news texts to be studied. This research will be carried out from May to June 2021 and carried out on the online mass media Fajar.co.id. The data collection technique used in this research is critical reading and citing things that are needed as complementary data. The steps of data collection techniques are, text observation, through direct observation or observation on the text to be studied. Identify and analyze covid-19 news texts in the online mass media Fajar.co.id. Marking important things related to the micro structure of the covid-19 news text in the online mass media Fajar.co.id. Transferring important data related to the microstructure of the covid-19 news text that is available on the online mass media of Fajar.co.id. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive analysis method which aims to describe: (1) the socio-historical background of Rully Ferdiansyah as the author of the novel Years of the Lost Standing Strong in the Shadows of Sheikh Yusuf and (2) the value of character education contained in novel The Lost Years Standing Strong in Shaykh Yusuf's Shadow. The primary data of this research is the novel Years of the Lost Standing Strong in the Shadow of Sheikh Yusuf, while the secondary data of this study was obtained through a written interview with Rully Ferdiansyah as the author of the novel. The source of the data for this research comes from the novel Years of the Lost Standing Strong in the Shadows of Sheikh Yusuf and a written interview with Rully Ferdiansyah as the author of the novel. Data collection was carried out in three stages, namely reading techniques, note-taking techniques, and interview techniques. The data that has been obtained is then analyzed through four stages, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. This research uses the theory of sociology of literature by Rene Wellek and Austin Warren. The results of the study show that (1) Rully Ferdiansyah as the author of the novel Years of the Lost Standing Strong in the Shadows of Sheikh Yusuf was born in Serang, Banten, precisely on August 30, 1985. Rully Ferdiansyah is of Sunda-Banten ethnicity and adheres to the teachings of Islam. The author is an environmental activist and anti-social disease activist in Cilegon. In addition, the author is a demisioner at the Banten Arts Council for the 2017-2018 period in the literary committee and also as a functionary of ICMI Banten for the 2019-present period, (2) In the novel Years of the Lost Standing Strong in the Shadows of Sheikh Yusuf, it is found five main characters in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Education and Culture which include: religiosity values (20.68%), integrity values (16.37%), nationalist values (11.20%), independent values (10.34%), and mutual cooperation value (6%). The value of integrity, which is the fifth value, in this novel is in second place under the value of religiosity

Abstract.This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the explicit instruction model in learning the skills of writing exposition texts for the tenth graders of MAN 1 Sinjai Utara. This type of research is classified as experimental research. The approach used in this research is a quantitative approach. The design used in this study is a quasi-experimental design. The population in this study was the entire class X MAN 1 Sinjai Utara, totaling 207 students and the sample used was 25 students. The amount was determined by using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques in this study used writing tests, observations, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive test, normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing. The results of this study indicate that; (1) learning without using explicit instruction model in the students' exposition text writing skills is in the less skilled category with an average value of 58.6. (2) Learning by applying the explicit instruction model in students' exposition text writing skills is in the skilled category with an average value of 77.9. (3) The explicit instruction model is effectively applied in learning the writing skills of the tenth grade students of MAN 1 Sinjai Utara Keyword : Explicit Instruction, Eksposition Text

Abstract: This study aims to determine how student's perception of the role of campus teaching program in the competence of the teaching profession (a research study on students of the Makassar State University PBSI study program). This research is a quantitative research. The research data are students' perceptions of the role of campus teaching programs. The research subjects were students of the PBSI study program who had attended the campus teaching program batches 1 – 3. The data collection technique was in the form of a survey using a questionnaire. Then, the analysis techniques used descriptive quantitative data analysis. The results showed that: (1) as 78 students' or 90% perceive the role of campus teaching program in pedagogic competence as being in the “high” category; (2) as 68 students' or 78% perceive the role of campus teaching program in personality competence as being in the “high” category; (3) as 75 students' or 86% perceive the role of campus teaching program in pedagogic competence as being in the “high” category; (4) as 70 students' or 80% perceive the role of campus teaching program in pedagogic competence as being in the “high” category.Keywords: Perception, campus teaching, teacher competence

The study aims to: 1) describe the level of syntactic competence of Bahasa Indonesia Department of Universitas Negeri Makassar students; (2) describe the exposition writing skills of Bahasa Indonesia Department of Universitas Negeri Makassar students; and (3) prove the significant effect of syntactic competence toward the skills of writing exposition of Bahasa Indonesia Department of Universitas Negeri Makassar students. This research is quantitative research in the form of ex post facto. The population of the data is the whole students of fourth semester in Bahasa Indonesia Department of Universitas Negeri Makassar. The samples were taken by simple random sampling and assigned Class B with 43 students. The data collection technique is a test. The collected data were analyzed by using analysis of descriptive statistics and statistical simple linear regression test. The results of the study show that : (1) the level of syntactic competence of Bahasa Indonesia Department of Universitas Negeri Makassar students is relatively adequate while the average obtained in the test of competence syntax is 70, the highest score is 88, and the lowest is 40; (2) the exposition writing skills of Bahasa Indonesia Department of Universitas Negeri Makassar students are relatively adequate with the average, the highest, and the lowest score are consecutively 74.6, 90, and 50 ; and (3) The effect of syntactic competence toward the exposition writing skills of Bahasa Indonesia Department student of Universitas Negeri Makassar is exist. Thus, it be concluded that the syntactic competence affect the skills of writing exposition of Bahasa Indonesia Department of Universitas Negeri Makassar students. Based on the results, we suggested that the students are given the knowledge of more in-depth syntactic devices before giving the writing task and the students are provided the knowledge and training related to the aspects of the effective sentences, active-passive voice, assignment words and the use of spelling for Bahasa Indonesia (writing letters and using the prefix di- and preposition di)

This study aims to describe the form of language politeness in interactions between teachers and students, and students and teachers. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The source of this research data is the result of interaction between students and teachers. The results of this study indicate that the form of politeness from teacher to student interaction obeys 5 forms of maxims namely, the maxim of wisdom, the maxim of generosity, the maxim of appreciation, the maxim of modesty, and the maxim of sympathy. While the form of politeness from student to teacher interactions obeys 5 forms of maxims, namely, the maxim of wisdom, the maxim of generosity, the maxim of agreement, the maxim of modesty, and the maxim of sympathy.

The Persuasive Language of Makassar City Celebrities in Offering Products. This study aims to: (1) Describe the form of persuasive language of the Makassar City program in offering products. (2) Describe the function of the Makassar City program in offering products. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods. The focus of this research is phrases, clauses, and sentences. The source of the data in this study is celebgram. Data collection techniques are carried out by screen recordings, screenshots and observations. The research instruments consist of researchers, recording tools, and data analysis guides. The results of the study revealed that the persuasive forms used by the program when offering products, namely the form of affirming, the form of rewards, the form of offering several products, the form of praise, the form of swabbing, the form of persuasive language convincing, the form of persuasive language in the form of an invitation, the form of persuasive language in the form of orders, the form persuasive language in the form of asserting, persuasive language forms in the form of questions, forms of guarantees, forms of follow-up and forms of diverting attention. The function of persuasive language used by program celebrities is the function of providing information, the function of introducing products, the function of adding value. The use of several persuasive forms is due to consumers coming from different backgrounds. The use of various persuasive language functions so that consumers are more confident in choosing the products offered.

Values of Character Education in Class X SMA Indonesian Textbooks. This study aims to describe the values and functions of character education in Class X SMA Indonesian textbooks. The type of research used is qualitative research with a causal approach in which any data obtained will be processed based on general ethical principles. This study uses a qualitative descriptive design. The results of the study showed that the values of character education contained in Indonesian language textbooks for Class X SMA, namely: religiosity, nationalism, integrity, independence, and mutual cooperation. While the functions of the values of character education, namely: faith, nobleness, health, knowledge, capability, creativity, independence, morality, and responsibility.
