Abstract

Television has a strategic position in constructing national identity. As part of the everyday life of the community, television provides a community-driven medium to construct its identity. In relation to the existence of mass media in the community and the issue of forming a national identity, there are unique problems that exist in the Sebatik Island of the Indonesian and Malaysian frontiers. These Indonesian people have no access to the broadcasting media, especially television, from Indonesia. This situation has persisted for several years, so the citizens of Sebatik Island use television broadcasts from Malaysia as their primary source of media communication. This study aims to examine how the people of Sebatik Island construct their national identity through the Malaysian television programs they watch daily. The methodology used in this study is ethnography with data collection techniques through observation and interviews of eight informants in September 2017. The result shows that the “mixed national identity” of Sebatik society is influenced by various factors and one of them is Malaysian television. Malaysian television programs also play a role as a socialization agent, among with other agents such as the presence of the community, the country, the organization, the culture, and the ideology.

Abstract

Penanaman akulturasi budaya di Pulau Jawa telah terjalin sejak 600 tahun silam dan tertuangkan dalam video dokumenter. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan persatuan budaya di Kota Lasem, Jawa Tengah, melalui dua video dokumenter dari akun Net. Biro Jawa Tengah dan MetroTVNews menggunakan Analisis diskursus multimodalitas. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Performa Kultural yang menjelaskan cara sebuah budaya merepresentasikan realita sosial, dan konsep Kishore yang menuturkan performa kultural dari video dokumenter digunakan sebagai media observasi realita sosial dalam penggunaan model visual, dan teori Metafora Visual yang membahas cara visual merajut makna atau ideologi kepada khalayak. Adapun metodologi yang digunakan adalah analisis teks dengan metode Multimodality Discourse Analysis. Objek penelitian ini mencakup dua video dokumenter Kota Lasem yang dipublikasi oleh dua akun yang berbeda, berupa Net. Biro Jawa Tengah dan MetroTVNews. Penelitian dilakukan dari bulan Januari hingga Mei 2021 dan dilakukan secara daring. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua akun memiliki kesamaan ideologi dari pelestarian budaya Lasem berdasarkan jejak sejarah melalui karya seni. Ideologi ini juga mencerminkan perbedaan sudut pandang sineas pelaku komunikator pesan, dimana terdapat penciri khas dari karya seni yang ditayangkan. Net. Biro Jawa Tengah menampilkan Batik Tulis Lasem sebagai media konservasi budaya, sementara MetroTVNews menggunakan Tarian Tiga Warna sebagai model pelestarian budaya Lasem.

Abstract

This study analyzed the interpretation of the self-identity projected by Tasya Farasha through her YouTube content. The development of youth identity today cannot be separated from the role of social media. In this context, Tasya Farasha’s content was examined from the viewpoint of the audience who watched it. This study uses a reception analysis methodology with focus group discussion as data collection technique. The informants in this study were selected based on criteria and classified based on three different universities in Jakarta. The result showed that the informants perceived the content of Tasya Farasya’s broadcast as a reference for youth in forming self-identity both culturally and persuasively in speech and action. The self-identity that Tasya Farasya projects led to a cosmopolitan identity. An identity that sees human’s equality in a community. This self-identity also shows its resistance to various dogmas that discriminate against differences.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui strategi komunikasi Account Executive PT. Doxadigital Indonesia dalam mendapatkan klien baru pada periode tahun 2019. Doxadigital Indonesia yang merupakan salah satu full service agency dalam bidang digital marketing yang telah menangani aktivitas promosi brand-brand besar di Indonesia dan mengalami peningkatan kerjasama dengan brand baru sebesar 6% pada tahun 2019. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah studi kasus dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara mendalam Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa arah strategi komunikasi yang dilakukan AE ialah persuasif dan edukatif, dan aktivitas utama AE dalam menjalankan arah strategi komunikasi ialah pada saat AE melakukan meeting dengan klien. Setelah project dengan klien selesai, AE akan tetap memelihara hubungan baik dengan klien. Segala proses yang dilakukan AE memiliki aktivitas komunikasi yang sudah dipersiapkan untuk AE agar memiliki efek yang positif bagi kelangsungan kerjasama klien dan agency.

Abstract

Ukrida has implemented an online learning system starting March 23, 2020 as an effort to control the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Technological changes in the learning system from face-to-face to online "force" educators to adapt to the determination of technology in terms of online learning media. University leadership has determined the Ukrida Virtual Class (UVC) as a learning media that must be used by educators in running the online learning system during the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to analyze the adaptability of educators to the determination of technology in terms of the use of UVC as online learning media during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research methodology uses a post-positivism paradigm with a qualitative approach. The post-positivism paradigm is used to see the phenomenon of determination of technology that "forces" educators to adapt the implementation of online learning system during the Covid-19 pandemic. The results of the study show that the adaptation of educators to UVC at the beginning of the at Even Semester 2019/2020, is still very minimal both in the number of educators and the ability to take advantage of all the features in UVC. But over time, with the implementation of policies issued by the University to support optimal use of UVC, it shows that the number of educators who use UVC in the following semester is increasing. Researchers also found that Ukrida already has two of the three components of online learning, namely the e-learning learning model (a) which is applied in the current learning system with a Moodle-based learning management system (LMS) and Ukrida Virtual Class as an online learning medium (c) while learning instructional design strategies (b) are currently being developed by the learning resources center (LRC), known as the Materials and Learning Innovation Development Unit (PMIP).

Abstract

The current study examines the impact of hashtags used in social media for political promotion and analyses the mediating role of supply chain communications (SCC) in the relationship. The current study was performed in Indonesia, where 301 Twitter users were surveyed about current variables with a questionnaire. The data was analysed through Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) and Analisis of Moment Structures (AMOS) in order to complete “structural equation modelling.” The findings of the current study depicted that increased social media hashtags about a political matter tend to increase significantly political promotion. Furthermore, it has been found that increased social media hashtags about a political matter significantly enhance the political communication in society. It means that increased hashtags enhance SCC, and SCC ultimately significantly enhances political promotion. The current study contributes to the literature and in practice, because it enhances the limited literature about the role of SCC in political promotion in association with social media hashtags. Practitioners should leverage the insights from hashtags to be the function as a promotion tool.

Abstract

This research will analyze the media convergence with the rapid development of the existing equipment in the broadcasting system of the television station in Indonesia. The digitalisation and advancement of communication and information technology have a tremendous impact on the emergence of a new paradigm and therefore, will also change the overall perspective of humans about various problems that occur around them. With the emergence of digital channels, the analogue media cannot support the existing system independently and require the integration of technologies in the discovery of new platforms. To analyze the paradigm shift of the television stations in Indonesia, this research uses the case study research method through interviews and observation data collection techniques. The research results show that technological and information changes in the broadcasting system in some technical parts of television media, i.e. the library system, post-production and broadcasting systems in the control room of the research. In responding to media convergence, the diversity of technologies involved in the processes of convergence, it makes the work more practical and efficient. Efficiency is very visible in the decent decrease of the production finance (cost) where works become competent with the integration of related units in the processes of convergence.

Abstract

The study aims to identify how the campaign message of #Bijakkelolasampah at Instagram @Waste4Change affects their followers regarding Send Your Waste program. The study results implicate that the followers of @Waste4Change followers, which consists of 21-25 years of age and female-oriented respondents, fulfill the validity and reliability tests with a score of 0.30. The mean of the campaign message has a score of 3.43, which is within a “very good” interval category. The regression analysis also confirms that the campaign messages of @Waste4Change have a correlation score of 0.806 among their followers. This means the message of #Bijakkelolasampah campaign has around 65% affinity, whereas the other 35% is affected by other means. The @Waste4Change Instagram managers should pay more attention to every upload so as not to create an ambiguous meaning for their followers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the metamorphosis of Giring Nidji from Music Stage to Politics Stage. Political dynamics in Indonesia are an attraction for all groups and levels of society, including musicians. This research begins by looking at the phenomenon of artists who have entered the world of politics, in this case Giring Ganesha, the vocalist of the band Nidji. He decided to leave the world of music that had raised his name to advance in the 2019 Legislative Candidate Election. After 15 years of working in the music world with his band Nidji, Giring Ganesha finally decided to resign and chose to enter politics. This study used the Symbolic Interaction Theory of George Herbert Mead and Herbert Blumer. This type of research is qualitative with a constructivist paradigm using a case study research method. The data collection techniques used interviews and observations. Four informants were selected as the main data and Giring himself was the key informant in this study. The results of this study indicate that in the metamorphosis process of Giring Ganesha from a musician to a politician, he has gone through several long stages such as preparation stage, play stage, game stage, generalizing stage, and becoming a legislative candidate. Eventually, he has formed his current self-concept and thoughts as a politician.

Meskipun film aksi sering kali diidentifikasi dengan filmproduksi Hollywood, dan disebut sebagai state-of-the-art dari film aksi, film Jmaes Bond,bagaimanapun, adalah pertama dan terutama adalah produk Inggris. Bergenre action, film iniditandai sebagai film berorientasi laki-laki (Tasker 2004: 8) sementara itu melalui esainya VisualPleasure and Narrative Cinema” oleh Laura Mulvey (1975) mengingatkan kita pada bagianpenting yang dimainkan oleh isu gender dan kritik film yang feminis, dalam analisis film aksi.Makalah ini membahas perkembangan film laga atau aksi dalam proses untuk membangunkarakter heroik perempuan, yang menunjukkan gagasan perempuan 'maskulinitas', istilah yangdiciptakan oleh Tasker (1993).
