Abstract

This research explores the implementation of Mozart Mouse and Beethoven Bear characterization methods in the Little Musician class at Favore Music School, Bandung. It assesses their impact on young learners' musical, linguistic, and emotional development. Utilizing a qualitative approach, the study spanned six months and incorporated observations, interviews, and document reviews to gather comprehensive data. The Music for Little Mozarts curriculum, designed specifically for young children, integrates narrative characters to enhance student engagement and learning. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, focusing on data reduction, display, and conclusion to ensure robust, systematically derived findings. Results indicate that preparing and implementing character-based materials and musical instruments effectively engages children. The role-playing exercises using Mozart Mouse and Beethoven Bear deepened the children's understanding of musical concepts, such as pitch and dynamics, and significantly improved their emotional and linguistic skills. This was particularly evident in their enthusiastic participation in end-of-semester musical concerts. The study highlights the potential of incorporating narrative and creativity in early education to enrich learning outcomes. Character-based methods could be particularly beneficial for fostering comprehensive developmental skills in music education. However, the research was limited to a single educational setting and a short observation period, which might affect the generalizability of the results. Future research should expand the study to multiple settings and extend the observation period better to understand the long-term effects of such pedagogical strategies. This could help ascertain the effectiveness and adaptability of characterization methods in a broader educational context.

Abstract

In fundamental music theory, comprehension of how music works is tested in two ways: textual (terms) and contextual (application), when students do not grasp the content and instead focus on learning. As a result, when students create musical arrangements and composition tasks, they are unable to organise melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic arrangements in a fundamentally and elegantly organised manner. The usage of accelerated learning with the MASTER type is believed to provide a remedy to students' confusion about basic music theory. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method and a case study methodology. The research subjects are first-year students of Tanjungpura University's Performing Arts Education Study Programme (FKIP). In-depth observation and direct interviews provided case descriptions in learning. Source triangulation and interactive model analysis were used to determine data validity. Based on the MASTER type's application in learning fundamental music theory, students have had the most impact when they utilise their minds and bodies, create knowledge, and collaborate with others. This is significant because the foundation for shaping students' skills in the twenty-first century is based on students as learners and the shift from constructivism to behaviourism.

Abstract

Text as a means of learning Indonesian may be developed and conditioned in such a manner that it can be a successful technique for Indonesian language teachers. Understanding text-based Indonesian learning materials takes extensive preparation and conditioning on the part of students. Purpose of this study is to analyse, comprehend, and characterise the process of text-based Indonesian language acquisition as it is implemented by instructors at public high schools in Pontianak City. This study, which used a descriptive approach with a qualitative form, also targeted Indonesian language instructors by selecting five public high schools in Pontianak as a representative sample. Direct observation and interview approaches were utilised to collect data, with data collecting devices in the form of observation sheets and interview lists. Furthermore, triangulation techniques were used in the last step of the data analysis process to test the validity of new data utilising data collecting, data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Based on the findings of observations and interviews, it was discovered that Indonesian instructors' text-based learning methodologies may more effectively and efficiently establish an environment conducive to Indonesian language acquisition. Because students may undertake a detailed examination and analysis of a text, their comprehension of its structure and linguistic qualities is more in-depth and thorough. This research can also provide studies and has for the Merdeka Belajar curriculum to continue to provide recommendations for text-based Indonesian language learning strategies so that learning indicators and objectives can be achieved.

Abstract

Introducing piano instruments to young children can significantly enhance their cognitive and academic development. This study delves into the effectiveness of using "Buku Musikku/My Music Book," a resource created by Yuniasri Maya Aisyah, specifically designed to teach preschoolers tone notation using color codes. A qualitative research approach was employed, focusing on a music course house in Pontianak City, Indonesia. Data was gathered through participant observation, interviews, and documentation, and its validity was ensured through source triangulation. The interactive model of Miles and Huberman was used to analyze the data. The study examined how color-coded music notation on piano instruments can aid early childhood understanding of fundamental musical elements: rhythm and melody. The rhythm section utilized fruit-shaped objects to visually represent beat values, while the melody section focused on matching color codes to specific note targets. The key finding of this research is that color-coded tone notation can indeed help young pianists recognize notes more effectively, making it a valuable tool for early childhood music education.

Abstract

This musicological study discusses Howard Richman's super sight-reading secrets program on the development of primavista pianist skills. Looking at the two elements of musicology, the research method used examines qualitatively with a musicological approach (theoretical and analytical). The process of collecting data using observation techniques, interviews, literacy studies, and documentation. The data that has been taken is then carried out by the process of selection, adaptation or processing, and delivery. Data validity uses source triangulation. The results of the study obtained theoretically, Howard Richman conveyed three basic things as the development of primavista pianist skills, namely: 1) pitch accuracy; 2) rhythmic; and 3) fingering. Analystically, Howard Richman's reasons for wanting to spread sight reading development alternatives for pianists are based on personal experience and sight reading processes, which consist of: 1) visual; 2) electro/chemical; 3) kinetic; and 4) aural. The process involves the eyes to see the notes, electro/chemical which involves the mind to control the nerves and instruct the muscles to play the notes which are then heard by the ears. The results of discussions with both novice and advanced pianists were in accordance with this study and found a real implementation of the program from Howard Richman, namely that it can be used easily and the implementation of exercises is effective and efficient..
