Abstract

The coordination system is one of the biology materials that students find difficult to remember (retention) let alone understand the concept because many have scientific terms. This study aims to determine the effect of student retention on biology learning on nervous system material through the application of Direct Instruction (DI) and Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review (SQ3R). The method used is a Quasi-Experimental Design category Posttest Group Design. Data was collected through 2 stages of testing. The first stage is short-term retention in the form of final test 1 taken after the learning process, then the second stage (long-term retention) through the 2nd final test is taken 3 weeks after final test 1. The results show that the percentage of long-term retention short students use DI of 62.5% and SQ3R of 78.125%, which means that both are categorized very well. The same is true for the category of students' long-term retention percentage when using DI of 56.25% and SQ3R of 68.75% which are also classified as very good categories. The use of DI and SQ3R in biology learning can be said to have a positive effect, but student retention is more enhanced through SQ3R learning than the application of DI. Abstrak. Sistem koordinasi merupakan salah satu materi biologi yang dianggap sulit oleh siswa untuk diingat (retensi) apalagi memahami konsepnya karena banyak memiliki istilah ilmiah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh retensi siswa terhadap pembelajaran biologi pada materi sistem koordinasi melalui penerapan Direct Instruction (DI) dan Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review (SQ3R). Metode yang digunakan adalah Quasi Experimental Design kategori Postest Group Design. Data dikumpulkan melalui 2 tahapan tes. Tahap pertama merupakan retensi jangka pendek berupa tes akhir 1 diambil setelah proses pembelajaran, kemudian tahap kedua (retensi jangka panjang) melalui tes akhir ke 2 diambil 3 minggu setelah tes akhir 1. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa persentase retensi jangka pendek siswa menggunakan DI sebesar 62,5% dan SQ3R sebesar 78,125% yang artinya keduanya terkategori sangat baik. Hal yang sama pada kategori persentase retensi jangka panjang siswa saat menggunakan DI sebesar 56,25% dan SQ3R sebesar 68,75% yang juga tergolong kategori sangat baik. Penggunaan DI dan SQ3R dalam pembelajaran biologi dapat dikatakan memiliki efek positif, namun retensi siswa lebih ditingkatkan melalui pembelajaran SQ3R daripada penerapan DI.

Abstract

Bibliometric research offers a thorough picture of its study subject, identifies gaps in the field, encourages the development of new ideas, and makes contributions to research disciplines that are related to it. For the purpose of providing in-depth information regarding the development and direction of 4C research in the educational setting, this research was carried out. After doing a search for scientific publications on the 4Cs issue that were indexed by Scopus, the research was carried out using a bibliometric analysis approach. A total of 81 articles that were related to the topic were acquired, and these articles were then examined using Vos Viewer and visualized. 21st-century talents is the keyword that appears the most frequently in relation to the 4Cs, as indicated by the findings of the research, which shows that it appears 25 times. Research that has been carried out over the course of the past five years reveals an increase that is expected to continue to increase in the years to come. The utilization of digital learning environments is the research potential that can be created in relation to the 4C

Abstract

Reward mempunyai peran penting dalam mempertahankan ataupun membangun motivasi belajar mahasiswa karena dianggap salah satu penentu keberhasilan selama mengikuti perkuliahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis motivasi belajar mahasiswa pendidikan biologi dari strata satu (S1) dan strata dua (S2) ditinjau dari pemberian reward selama perkuliahan. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner online tentang persepsi mahasiswa secara umum dan khusus terhadap reward yang diadaptasi dari Lloyd (2007). Selanjutnya, data dianalisis secara kuantitatif untuk menjelaskan persepsi dari 190 mahasiswa pendidikan biologi yang terdiri dari 177 mahasiswa strata satu (S1) dan 13 mahasiswa strata dua (S2). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa seluruh mahasiswa pendidikan biologi setuju dan termotivasi untuk belajar ketika diberikan reward saat perkuliahan. Meskipun persentase tipe reward yang diharapkan berbeda, seperti reward nilai sebesar 50%, pemberian semangat/pujian 23%, lalu 20 % berupa hadiah, sedangkan bentuk lain 7%. Selain itu mahasiswa umumnya lebih memilih diberitahu jika ada reward dibanding diberikan secara spontan. Perbedaan spesifik antara mahasiswa S1 dengan S2 terlihat saat pemilihan khusus jenis reward, dimana mahasiswa S1 lebih memilih nilai sedangkan mahasiswa S2 lebih mengharapkan adanya pengayaan materi, pembimbingan, serta pemberian sumber literatur yang dapat membantu tugas mereka. Penerapan reward yang disesuaikan dengan tingkat pendidikan mahasiswa dapat menjadi acuan dalam mendorong semangat belajar mahasiswa selama perkuliahan.  Reward plays an essential role in supporting or increasing student learning motivation because it is believed as one of contributing factors to students' performance in lectures. This study intended to analyze how rewarding students in classes influences undergraduate (S1) and postgraduate (S2) degrees in biology education students' motivation to learn. The data was gathered utilizing a Lloyd-adapted online survey (2007) regarding students' perceptions of rewards in general and particular. Furthermore, 190 biology education students, consisting of 177 undergraduate students (S1) and 13 postgraduates (S2), had their perceptions addressed through quantitative analysis. The results indicated that all biology education students believed that rewards during lectures motivate them to learn. Although the percentage of the type of reward intended varies, such as a reward in the form of a score was 50%, encouragement or praise was 23%, then 20% was in the form of a gift, while other forms were 7%. In addition, students generally prefered to be informed if there was a reward compared to being given it spontaneously. When deciding on a specific reward, it was evident that postgraduate students differed significantly in their choices. Whereas undergraduate students prioritized grades or scores, postgraduate students expected more material enrichment, mentoring, and the provision of literature resources to assist with their assignments. Implementing rewards that are relevant to the educational level of the students can be a reference for enhancing their interest in lectures.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui validitas e-modul dengan PhET Interactive Simulation bagi mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep fisika terintegrasi biologi yakni gelombang dan bunyi pada makhluk hidup. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE, yakni analysis (analisis), design (perancangan), development (pengembangan), implementation (implementasi) dan evaluation (evaluasi). Pada penelitian ini hanya dilakukan sampai pada tahap pengembangan produk yang divalidasi oleh tiga ahli pendidikan dan pengajaran. Berdasarkan hasil validasi diperoleh persentase rata-rata sebesar 83% kategori sangat valid dengan validitas isi sebesar 85% dan validitas konstruk sebesar 81% masing-masing berada dalam kategori sangat valid, sehingga e-modul yang dikembangkan dinyatakan sangat valid dan layak untuk dilanjutkan ke tahap implementasi dan evaluasi. Rekomendasi praktis dari penelitian ini dapat digunakan dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep fisika terintegrasi biologi bagi mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi dengan memanfaatkan teknologi simulasi virtual secara efektif. The study aimed to determine the validity of e-module with PhET Interactive Simulation for biology education students in improving understanding of physics concepts integrated in biology, namely waves and sounds in living beings. The type of research was Research and Development (R&D) with ADDIE model, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This research was only carried out up to the product development stage which was validated by three education and teaching experts. Based on the results of validation, an average percentage of 83% of the category is very valid with content validity of 85% and construct validity of 81% respectively in the highly valid category, so the developed e-module was declared very valid and worthy of being continued to the implementation and evaluation stages. The practical recommendation of this study can be used to improve the understanding of physics concepts integrated in biology for biology education students by effectively utilizing virtual simulation technology.

Abstract

Sikap terhadap pembelajaran kimia merupakan aspek penting yang berpengaruh langsung terhadap efektivitas dan minat belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran sikap mahasiswa calon guru IPA dalam mempelajari kimia. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan instrument berupa kuesioner Attitude toward chemistry learning (ATCL) yang dikembangkan oleh Cheung (2009) terdiri dari empat indicator (1) liking for chemistry learning, (2) liking for chemistry laboratory, (3) evaluative beliefs about chemistry, (4) behavioral tendencies to learn chemistry. Kuesioner yang telah diterjemahkan, dibagikan kepada 39 orang mahasiswa calon guru IPA menggunakan google form. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif untuk memperoleh gambaran profil sikap mahasiswa terhadap kimia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sikap positif mahasiswa calon guru IPA dalam melakukan praktikum kimia dibandingkan mempelajari teori. Mahasiswa meyakini bahwa kimia penting untuk dipelajari, namun belum menunjukkan keinginan untuk mempelajari kimia secara mandiri. Hasil ini dapat menjadi masukan bagi dosen dalam menentukan strategi yang tepat dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran kimia yang mempromosikan sikap positif mahasiswa terhadap kimia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the ethnobotany biodiversity approach as a learning resource in the environment of SMA Negeri 1 Tempilang. Using biodiversity integrated with the community's traditional knowledge of plants (ethnobotany) in learning is crucial to increase students' understanding and awareness of the environment. The method used was a survey with a questionnaire instrument distributed to 35 SMA Negeri 1 Tempilang students to measure the level of knowledge, techniques, and obstacles to using ethnobotanical biodiversity in learning. Based on the results of the descriptive analysis, most students are at a high level of knowledge about ethnobotany, with 76 students or about 43.43% of the total population. Most of the other students were at a moderate level, with 50 students or about 28.57%. Deficient levels of knowledge have a relatively small number of students, with ten (5.71%) and 17 (9.71%), respectively. There is also a small number of students with a very high level of knowledge, namely 22 students or around 12.57%. Overall, the understanding and knowledge of ethnobotany among students is relatively good. The study results show that students understand ethnobotanical biodiversity well, but its use as a learning resource still needs improvement. The main obstacles include the limitation of learning materials and the need to utilize local potential. This study concludes the importance of integrating ethnobotany biodiversity materials in the school curriculum to increase environmental awareness and appreciation of local cultural richness. The results of this study can be a reference for the development of curriculum and learning strategies that are more relevant to local conditions.

Abstract

Keterbatasan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam mengolahan dan menginterpretasi data instrumen sering menjadi kendala dalam menyusun tugas akhir oleh karena itu kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan mahasiswa dalam mengolah dan menginterpretasi data Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) menggunakan aplikasi OriginLab. FTIR merupakan salah satu instrumen penting dalam penelitian saintek (IPA) untuk menganalisis gugus fungsi dan interaksi molekul pada berbagai sampel. Pelatihan ini melibatkan mahasiswa akhir sebagai mitra dari angkatan 2020, 2021, dan 2022 baik yang sedang atau yang melakukan penelitian tugas akhir. Metode pelatihan meliputi pemberian materi teori FTIR, praktik teknis pengolahan data menggunakan OriginLab, simulasi interpretasi spektrum, serta pendampingan studi kasus. Untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam mengolah data, maka dilakukan pre test dan post test. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam pemahaman dan keterampilan menginterpretasikan data, dengan rata-rata peningkatan sebesar 28,62%. Mahasiswa mampu mengolah dan menginterpretasi spektrum FTIR secara mandiri, menghasilkan data berkualitas dalam mendukung hasil penelitiannya. PKM ini telah memberikan manfaat langsung kepada mahasiswa dan berkontribusi pada penguatan kompetensi teknis untuk kebutuhan akademik maupun profesional.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are important for students to have when facing the challenges of the 21st century. This skill can help students overcome problems in the real world, one of which is the problem of environmental change. This research is qualitative with a descriptive approach, to evaluate the critical thinking abilities of students in class X SMA Negeri 3 Tanjung Raja on environmental change material. The number of research subjects was thirty. The critical thinking ability test consists of five questions that refer to five indicators: providing simple basic explanations, building basic skills, drawing conclusions, providing further explanations, and organizing strategies and tactics. The results showed that participants had a low level of critical thinking, especially in terms of indicators of concluding.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) bertujuan untuk mendampingi 26 siswa SMA Negeri 1 Talang Ubi dalam pembuatan PROTUFEL (Produk Turunan F2 Eco enzim) sehingga tercipta generasi eco-preneur. PROTUFEL dihasilkan melalui pengolahan sampah organik yang mengkombinasikan dengan produk lokal lengkuas (Alpinia galanga) daerah PALI sehingga menjadi produk inovatif lokal ramah lingkungan. Pembuatan eco enzim fermentasi kedua (F2) jarang diperkenalkan ke siswa, padahal produk yang dihasilkan  dari proses tersebut lebih ekonomis serta mampu memerdekakan siswa untuk melaksanakan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi produk. Pemanfaatan lingkungan sekitar sebagai media belajar bagi siswa akan sangat membantu dalam peningkatan hasil belajar, kemandirian, kreativitas, dan jiwa eco-preneur. Metode PkM mengikuti alur PALI, yaitu Penggalian pengetahuan, Ambil inti sari, Lakukan praktikum, dan Informasikan. Keberhasilan kegiatan PkM dilihat dari kolaborasi siswa menghasilkan eco enzim dan produk turunannya, serta ketertarikan siswa melanjutkan eco-preneurship. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa siswa secara berkelompok mampu menghasilkan eco-enzim dan produk turunannya seperti pupuk organik cair (POC)  eco enzim, sabun batang, dan karbol. Selain itu,  adanya ketertarikan siswa dalam melanjutkan kewirausahaan dengan cara mengkomunikasikan informasi pembuatan PROTUFEL kepada orangtua mereka. Besar peluang kegiatan PkM yang serupa dilakukan pada sekolah lain, sehingga dapat membentuk karakter eco-preneur yang siap bersaing di Dunia Usaha Dunia Industri. Abstract

Background: The PBL-SSI model approach can develop students' reflective judgment and communication skills at school because learning with this model is based on scientific concepts that impact people's lives. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing SSI-based electronic modules in improving the reflective judgment and communication skills of class X Muhammadiyah High School students in Palembang City. Methods: The research method uses a quantitative descriptive method, with the research subjects being biology teachers and class X students at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 and SMA Muhammadiyah 5, Palembang City. This research is quasi-experimental, with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. Results: The research results show that the effectiveness value of the PBL-SSI electronic module can increase reflective judgment, as seen from the N-gain value results. Muhammadiyah 1 High School in the control class has 40% less effective criteria, and the experimental class has 71% sufficient criteria that are effective. Muhammadiyah High School 5 in the control class was 25% ineffective criteria, and the experimental class was 61% quite effective criteria. Meanwhile, the results of communication skills were obtained by SMA Muhammadiyah 1 in the control class with a score of 76 good criteria, the experimental class with a score of 83 perfect criteria, SMA Muhammadiyah 5 in the control class with a score of 79 good criteria, the experimental class with a score of 88 perfect criteria. Conclusions: Applying PBL-SSI-based electronic modules on environmental change material effectively improves students' reflective judgment and communication skills.
