Abstract

Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) is an important plantation crop in the commercial sector as it accounts for 65% of worldwide sugar production. The role of sugarcane is very important in the sugar industry, so it needs to be supported by intensive research, especially for the breeding and assembly of superior varieties to improve the quality and quantity of sugarcane production. The process of plant breeding cannot be separated from the germplasm management program, because it is a source of genetic diversity of a plant species. Characteristics and evaluation of nuftah plasma are one of the activities carried out to determine the potential characteristics of the breeding program. One of the efforts to extract information in empowering the nuftah plasma collection is by morphological characteristics, so that superior plant varieties or accessions can be classified. Morphological characters were observed qualitatively and quantitatively. Each variety of a sugarcane species has a specific morphological description, both quantitative and qualitative traits, then the data base for these characteristics is used as a reference for filtering potentially superior to diversity in germplasm collections.

Abstract

Mandarin’s SoEare one of Indonesia's leading mandarinto substitute imported oranges. The quality of oranges can be improved through breeding programs, one of which is mutation breeding using gamma rays. The purpose of this study was to obtain information about the genetic variation of SoE mandarin resulting from gamma ray radiation using ISSR markers. PCR results with ISSR markers on tangerine plants produced by gamma ray radiation showed various patterns, namely the bands were the same, lost bands, and experienced the addition of new bands compared to control plants.

Abstract

Obstacles that often occur in cultivation of tomatoes, chilies, and tobacco is the occurrence of diseases caused by viruses. One of them is infected with the Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), this virus infection is very dangerous for large red chili, tomato and tobacco farming which results in quite large losses for farmers in Indonesia. Controlling viral infections caused by CMV is very difficult due to the high genetic diversity of CMV making it difficult to obtain resistant types of red pepper, tomato and tobacco, the range of CMV host plants is wide, and CMV can be transmitted by aphids and ticks. non-persistent whiteheads. The aim of this journal review was to determine the pathogenicity of sat-RNA associated with CMV in red chilies, tomatoes and tobacco. Based on the results of reviews from several journals, it can be seen that RNA satellite is effective against CMV infection on chili, tomato, and tobacco plants. Which can be seen by administering the CARNA vaccine to each plant treatment.

Abstract

Dendrobium is one of the genera of the third largest Orchidaceae family which reaches about 1184 species in the world. In Indonesia, this genus of orchids is a wealth of genetic resources that are abundant in the Eastern region, such as Papua and Maluku. These genetic resources have not been optimally utilized as elders in crossbreeding to produce offspring that have characteristics according to what consumers want. Due to the limitations of these morphological characteristics, another character is needed that can support the systematics of orchids, namely molecular characters. Plant kinship analysis can use molecular characters in the form of DNA strands that can overcome the weaknesses of morphological data that are known to have limitations and tend to be influenced by the environment. This study aims to analyze the kinship of several types of Dendrobium based on the rbcL gene and add to the basic data source of germplasm from the genus Dendrobium. The samples used were nucleotide sequences of 11 nucleotide sequences consisting of 10 types of Dendrobium (D. anosmum, D. jinghuanum, D. catenatum, D. nobile, D. jenkinsii, D. pahangense, D. nobile, D. pulchellum, D. fimbriatum, and D. pulchellum) which is used as an in group and 1 species of the genus Phalaenopsis namely Phalaenopsis equestris which is used as an outgroup. The results of Dendrobium kinship analysis with an in silico based rbcL gene molecular approach show that species in the same genus are not necessarily closely related. The species that is a member of the out group is Phalaenopsis equestris,. Phalaenopsis equestris forms its own tree branches, while the other 10 species are on the same phylogeny tree branches.

Abstract

The development of DNA sequencing technologies has deepened our understanding of genetic variation within Dendrobium species and revealed evolutionary relationships among them. in-silico methods facilitate efficient phylogenetic determination, leveraging computational advantages to process sequence data with high accuracy. This study aims to significantly contribute to the understanding of genetic diversity within the genus Dendrobium based on the TrnL-F marker, with potential implications for the conservation and management of these plant genetic resourcesThis paper presents nucleotide diversity analysis and phylogenetic analysis to determine the kinship relationships among Dendrobium species. The analysis revealed a high degree of relatedness among the Dendrobium species, with kinship relationships dividing them into three distinct groups.
