Abstract

Pengabdian ini mengeksplorasi penerapan inovasi hijau untuk penghidupan berkelanjutan di komunitas pedesaan di Malaysia melalui program pengabdian masyarakat internasional. Inisiatif ini mengintegrasikan praktik ramah lingkungan dalam bidang pertanian, energi terbarukan, ekowisata, dan edukasi lingkungan dengan pendekatan partisipatif. Metodologi mencakup pemetaan sosial, keterlibatan komunitas, dan implementasi teknologi percontohan seperti kompos dari limbah kelapa sawit, industri bambu lokal, serta panel surya skala kecil. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kesadaran dan kapasitas masyarakat, dengan partisipasi aktif pemuda dan pendidik dalam program edukasi lingkungan.. Pemberdayaan ekonomi terlihat dari terbentuknya usaha komunitas dan penggunaan alat keuangan digital. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa pendekatan holistik lintas sektor terhadap inovasi hijau dapat menjadi model yang layak untuk keberlanjutan pedesaan dan direplikasi di wilayah serupa. Temuan ini berkontribusi pada pengembangan ilmu pembangunan berkelanjutan dan memberikan rekomendasi kebijakan untuk memperluas praktik hijau di tingkat akar rumput.

Abstract

Basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) is a horticultural plant widely used as a fresh vegetable and herbal ingredient. Efforts to increase basil growth and production can be achieved through environmentally friendly organic fertilization, one of which is the use of cow manure and eco- enzymes. The purpose of this study was to determine the response due to the provision of eco enzyme and cow manure on the growth and production of basil plants. This research method used a factorial randomized block design (RAK) with two factors. The first factor was the provision of cow manure with 4 levels, namely S0 = no treatment, S1 = 200g, S2 = 300g, S3 = 400g. The second factor was the provision of EE with 4 levels, namely E0 = no treatment, E1 = 10ml, E2 = 20ml, E3 = 30ml. The observation parameters of this study were plant height, stem diameter, number of primary branches, fresh weight, root length, flowering age. The results of this study are expected to provide recommendations for effective organic fertilization to increase basil plant productivity sustainably.

Abstract

The coconut palm (Cocos nucifera) is an economically and culturally significant crop widely cultivated in tropical regions, particularly in Indonesia. However, coconut productivity remains suboptimal due to aging plantations and poor soil conditions. To address this, biofertilizers such as Bacillus nigr have been proposed as sustainable alternatives to chemical fertilizers. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Bacillus nigr-based liquid organic fertilizer (POC) on the early growth parameters of coconut plants aged 9 to 12 months. Conducted in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, the experiment involved 38 coconut seedlings divided equally into treatment (POC) and control groups. Data on stem height were collected and analyzed using a T-test. The results demonstrated a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) in stem height between the POC-treated and untreated plants, with notable growth advantages observed in the control group at 11 and 12 months. However, POC treatment showed promising effects at earlier growth stages (9–10 months). These findings suggest that Bacillus nigr-based POC may influence early vegetative growth, but long-term benefits and dosage optimization require further investigation. This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on the role of microbial biofertilizers in sustainable coconut cultivation and offers insights for enhancing early-stage coconut growth using environmentally friendly agricultural practices.

Abstract

Bitter melon, chili and corn are important commodities in Sei Binga Yuuk District. However, production of this crop is often hampered by pest and disease attacks. This research aims to identify pests and diseases that attack bitter melon, chili and corn plants in Sei Bingai District. The method used is a direct survey in the field with visual observation and sampling. It is hoped that this research will provide useful information for farmers in controlling pests and diseases of bitter melon, chili and corn plants in Sei Bingai District. Abstract

Bananas are non-branched plants and are classified as monocots. The trunk that forms the tree is a pseudo-stem, consisting of leaf fronds that are arranged in an orderly manner, the branching of the plant is sympodial type (the trunk of the tree is difficult to determine) with an elongated end meristem and forms flowers and fruits. The fruit at the bottom of the banana stem is bulging in the form of a tuber called a hump. The potential of the banana chips business itself is also very good, so it's not surprising that now many are taking advantage of banana chips business opportunities. By taking advantage of business activities by offering banana chips, it is actually able to bring in a fairly high turnover. The public's demand for processed banana chips from time to time continues to increase, making the potential of this business very promising. The banana chips business is indeed very easy to run with a capital that is not too large. The banana chips business also has a lot of enthusiasts so it's not surprising that banana chips are selling well in the market. The problem is how the Financial Feasibility of the Banana Chips Business can increase family welfare income. The method of reviewing the case study is to analyze in depth the financial feasibility of the banana chips business in a specific location, namely Jln. Setia Budi Pasar 1, Medan Selayang District, Medan City. The location of Peanaman Pisang is in Kuala Langkat. This research is descriptive, that is, it describes what it is. Then a revenue analysis table is made where the goal is to analyze the income from the sale of banana chips. Results of the Analysis of the Farmer Business Study The business of selling banana chips in one week can get a total income of Rp. 8,610,000 with a net profit of Rp. 6,297,000 after deducting all production costs. Banana Chips Business can increase family income and is not too complicated to run.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of packaging methods on the quality of guava fruit (Psidium guajava L.) during low-temperature storage. The research was conducted at the Horticulture Laboratory of the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI), Malaysia, from July to August 2025. The research method used was an experimental approach with five packaging treatments, namely T1 (PP650 without MAP), T2 (PP650 + MAP PP), T3 (PP650 + MAP PE), T4 (vacuum packaging PP), and T5 (450-micron MAP seal). The observed parameters included fruit weight, pH, malic acid content, tartaric acid content, and fruit size on day 0, day 4, day 8, and day 12 of storage. The results showed that packaging methods affected the quality of guava fruit during low-temperature storage. The treatment without MAP experienced a faster decline in quality, indicated by an increase in pH, a decrease in organic acid content, and fruit weight loss. In contrast, MAP and vacuum packaging treatments were able to maintain fruit weight, acid content, and fruit size better until the 12th day of storage. Treatment T2 (PP650 + MAP PP) and T3 (PP650 + MAP PE) showed the best results in maintaining fruit quality compared to the other treatments. Based on the results of this study, the use of MAP and vacuum packaging methods is recommended for guava storage because they can slow down quality deterioration and extend the shelf life of the fruit, which aligns with recent parameters of low-temperature fruit handling (Chen et al., 2024; Etemadipoor et al., 2020; Fan et al., 2022).

Abstract

Eggplant production in Indonesia is still low and only accounts for 1% of the world's needs, this is because the cultivation culture is still not intensive. Infertile soil is also a factor in low eggplant production. In order for growth to be good, it must look at the ideal growing conditions and nutrients in the soil. This study aims to determine the optimal concentration of liquid organic fertilizer in increasing the growth and production of purple eggplant plants. The research design applied is a non-factorial Randomized Group Design (RGD) consisting of 1 factor, namely Liquid Organic Fertilizer, with 4 experimental levels, namely P0 (0 ml /l water), P1 (50 ml /l water), P2 (100 ml /l water), P3 (150 ml /l water). The results showed that the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer had a very significant effect on all variables observed, except the number of fruits, fruit weight and production weight were not significantly different. LOF treatment with a concentration of 150 ml/l water gave the best results on the parameters of plant height, stem diameter, number of flowers, number of fruits, fruit length, fruit weight, production weight and production ha/ton

Abstract

The study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the growing medium and the application of organic fertilizer on the growth and production of bok choy. This study used a completely randomized design with two treatment factors. The first factor was the application of organic fertilizer, consisting of D0 (control), D1 (bioorganic dose of 20 g/plant), D2 (bioorganic dose of 30 g/plant), and D3 (bioorganic dose of 40 g/plant). The second factor was the use of growing media: M0 (soil), M1 (soil:husk 1:1), M2 (soil:husk 1:2), and M3 (soil:husk 2:1). The application of organic fertilizer significantly affected the height and weight of bok choy plants. The application of 40 g of bioorganic fertilizer (D3) showed the best results.

Abstract

Shallots (A. ascalonicum) are a horticultural commodity that has high economic value in Indonesia and is widely used, both as a cooking spice and traditional medicine. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of banana peel POC and rice husk charcoal growing media on the growth of shallots and to assess whether there is an interaction between the two factors. The research activities were carried out in the experimental field of Panca Budi Development University located in Sampe Cita Village, Kutalimbaru District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province at an altitude of 149 meters above sea level. The research implementation period was from November 2025 to January 2026. The method used was a 4x4 Factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK) with two factors resulting in 16 treatment combinations repeated in 3 blocks for a total of 48 plots. The first factor was Banana Peel POC with 4 levels, namely: F0 = Without POC, F1 = 100 ml/plot, F2 = 200 ml/plot, F3 = 300 ml/plot. The second factor of 4 Level Rice Husk Charcoal Planting Media is: H0 = Top Soil, H1 = Top Soil: Rice Husk Charcoal (3:1), H2 = Top Soil: Rice Husk Charcoal (1:1), H3 = Top Soil: Rice Husk Charcoal (1:3). The results of the study showed that the treatment of banana peel POC significantly affected the growth of shallot plants in plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers/sample, wet weight/sample, dry weight/sample and dry weight/plot, the best results in treatment F1 = 100 ml/plot. The treatment of rice husk charcoal planting media also significantly affected the growth of shallot plants in plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers/sample, wet weight/sample, dry weight/sample, but did not significantly affect the dry weight parameter/plot, the best results in treatment H1 = top soil: rice husk charcoal (1:3). There was no interaction between banana peel POC and rice husk charcoal planting media on the growth of shallots (A. ascanolicum).

Abstract

Abstrak: Program “Kuda Lumping: Tradisi dan Inovasi Sosial untuk Masyarakat Berkelanjutan” merupakan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang mengintegrasikan pelestarian budaya dengan inovasi sosial guna mendukung pembangunan berkelanjutan. Program ini berfokus pada peningkatan kualitas pertunjukan dan kapasitas promosi digital kelompok seni Kuda Lumping yang terdiri atas 25 anggota. Tujuannya meliputi penyediaan pelapis sarung alat musik dan aksesoris pertunjukan, peningkatan pengetahuan mitra dalam promosi digital, serta peningkatan produktivitas ekonomi kelompok seni. Metode pelaksanaan mencakup sosialisasi, pelatihan, penerapan teknologi, pendampingan, evaluasi, dan keberlanjutan program. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan sebesar 78% pada aspek manajemen pertunjukan, pemasaran digital, dan pengembangan merchandise berbasis budaya. Selain itu, kapasitas ekonomi kelompok seni meningkat sebesar 35%, terbentuk dua model bisnis berkelanjutan, serta terjadi peningkatan keterlibatan generasi muda sebesar 45% dalam pelestarian budaya lokal. Evaluasi menggunakan pendekatan mixed-method dengan indikator peningkatan pendapatan, penguasaan teknologi, dan partisipasi masyarakat. Program ini berkontribusi terhadap pencapaian Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs) poin 8 dan 11, yaitu pekerjaan layak dan pertumbuhan ekonomi serta kota dan komunitas berkelanjutan. Kolaborasi antara seniman, akademisi, pemerintah, dan pihak swasta menjadi kunci keberhasilan, membuktikan bahwa kearifan lokal dapat menjadi sumber inovasi sosial yang relevan di era modern.Abstract: The “Kuda Lumping: Tradition and Social Innovation for Sustainable Communities” program is a community service activity that integrates cultural preservation with social innovation to support sustainable development. This program focuses on improving the quality of performances and digital promotion capabilities of the Kuda Lumping art group, which consists of 25 members. Its objectives include providing covers for musical instruments and performance accessories, increasing partners' knowledge of digital promotion, and increasing the economic productivity of the art group. The implementation methods include socialization, training, technology application, mentoring, evaluation, and program sustainability. The results show a 78% increase in knowledge in the areas of performance management, digital marketing, and culture-based merchandise development. In addition, the economic capacity of the art group increased by 35%, two sustainable business models were formed, and there was a 45% increase in the involvement of the younger generation in the preservation of local culture. The evaluation used a mixed-method approach with indicators of increased income, technology mastery, and community participation. This program contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) points 8 and 11, namely decent work and economic growth, and sustainable cities and communities. Kolaborasi antara seniman, akademisi, pemerintah, dan pihak swasta menjadi kunci keberhasilan, membuktikan bahwa kearifan lokal dapat menjadi sumber inovasi sosial yang relevan di era modern.
