Abstract

Introduction: Dermatitis is one of the skin diseases that industrial workers tend to experience. The prevalence of dermatitis in 2021 is 19.5%, then in 2022 it is 21.7% and in 2023 it is 23.1%. The aim of this study was to analyze factors associated with contact dermatitis in nickel ore processing industry workers in Morosi District. Method: Type of quantitative research with Cross Sectional Study design. The sampel is 71 people Nickel Ore Processing Industry Workers in the smelting sector who live in Morosi District taken using a simple random sampling technique with the Chi-square test and close relationship test. Results:the chi-square test found p values for age (0.000) and φ (0.505), p values for length of contact (0.000) and φ (0.507), p values for frequency of contact (0.001) and φ (0.399), personal protective equipment (0.023 ) and φ (0.270), personal hygiene (0.000) and φ (0.827). Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that there is a moderate relationship between age and length of contact with contact dermatitis. There is a weak relationship between the frequency of contact and use of personal protective equipment with contact dermatitis and there is a strong relationship between personal hygiene and contact dermatitis in nickel ore processing industry workers in Morosi District

Abstract

Pengolahan nikel menghasilkan unsur kimia berbahaya yang dapat mempengaruhi kualitas udara, sehingga apabila nikel masuk kedalam tubuh manusia melalui inhalasi, oral dan dermal maka nikel diserap dalam darah dan terakumulasi didalam tubuh pekerja industri pengolahan nikel sehingga dapat menyebabkan kanker. Salah satu protein penanda kanker yaitu AEG-1 yang diekspresikan secara berlebihan pada semua kanker dan secara bertahap meningkat seiring dengan proses perkembangan kanker, dan tingkat ekspresi AEG-1 jelas berkorelasi dengan prognosis pasien yang buruk. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeteksi protein AEG-1 dalam sampel darah pekerja industri pengolahan nikel di kecamatan Morosi. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah pekerja industri pengolahan nikel divisi smelter berjumlah 36 orang, dengan teknik penarikan sampel secara Accidental Sampling., dengan jumlah sampel 14 orang. Metode pemeriksaan menggunakan metode Sodium Dodesilsulfat Poliakrilamida Gel Elektroforesis (SDS-PAGE). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan dari 14 sampel terdapat 65 pita-pita protein dengan berat molekul yang berbeda. Terdapat 7 sampel (S1, S3, S4, S8, S9, S11, dan S12) menunjukan berat molekul protein AEG-1 berkisar antara 70-80 kDa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa terdapat protein AEG-1 pada 7 sampel serum pekerja industri pengolahan nikel. Sebaiknya pekerja industri pengolahan nikel lebih memperhatikan dan mentaati peraturan keselamatan kerja tentang penggunaan Alat Pelindung Diri (APD) saat bekerja dilingkungan industri  pengolahan nikel dan  untuk penelitian yang lebih lanjut agar lebih spesifik melakukan pemeriksaan terhadap pekerja industri pengolahan nikel tentang jenis kanker yang diakibatkan oleh paparan nikel.

Abstract

The existence of Drinking Water Depots (DAM) continues to increase in line with the dynamics of the community's need for quality and safe drinking water for consumption. Drinking water must meet physical, chemical and microbiological requirements. This study aims to determine the quality of Coliform, Fe, pH in Raw Water and Depot Drinking Water in Kendari City. This research is an observational study with a cross sectional study design and was carried out in June - July 2018 in Kendari City. The population in this study were all registered drinking water depots in Kendari City for the January 2018 period, namely 87 depots and a sample of 36 depots with a proportional random sampling technique. Data were obtained using questionnaires and descriptive analysis. The results obtained from 36 depots, the quality of Coliform in Raw Water was mostly 80.6% did not meet the requirements and the quality of Coliform Drinking Water Depot 88.9% met the requirements. Most of the Fe quality in Raw Water, namely 58.3%, met the requirements and the Fe quality in Depot Drinking Water was mostly 86.1%, and the pH quality in Raw Water and drinking water was 100% qualified. The conclusion in this study is that the quality of coliform in raw water is mostly not eligible and most of the drinking water meets the requirements. The quality of Fe in raw water and drinking water mostly meets the requirements and the quality of pH in raw water and drinking water 100% meets health requirements. Suggestions in this study are for the Kendari City Health Office to be able to establish policies in an effort to improve the quality of drinking water depots, especially the quality of microbiology. For the owner of the depot, in order to improve the hygiene and sanitation of the depot so as to minimize the coliform content in the drinking water of the depot

Abstract

Introduction: Based on the results of observations, it shows that the majority of respondents engage in more unprotected anal sex and ejaculatory oral sex. This activity is mostly carried out by different sexual partners with a very regular frequency, which results in the transmission of HIV/AIDS. This is what is interesting for researchers to conduct research on Behavioral Analysis of Condom Use and Number of Sex Partners as Risk Factors for HIV/AIDS in the Group of Men Who Have Sex with Men at the Kendari City Regional Hospital. Method: This type of research is quantitative research with a case control research design. The case population in this study was 349 men with male sex with positive (+) HIV test results and 423 men with male sex with negative (-) HIV test results. The sample in this study was taken using a random sampling method, totaling 75 respondents using the Lemeshow formula. Result: Confidence Interval (CI) at the 95% confidence level with a lower limit value of 3.361 and an upper limit of 15.229. The OR value obtained shows that condom use is a risk factor with LL and UL values and Confidence Interval (CI) at the 95% confidence level with a lower limit value of 9.090 and an upper limit of 48.517. Conclusion: Condom use and number of sexual partners are behavioral risk factors for HIV/AIDS in the group of men having sex with men at the Kendari City Regional Hospital.

Abstract

Introduction: Initial survey of the number of Printing companies in Kendari City as many as 20 companies, the production produced includes printing billboards, banners, invitation printing industry, stickers, business cards, screen printing industry for cloth, clothes and other basic materials. Shows that workers in the printing company will be at great risk of exposure to chemicals in the production process while working in printing. So the author conducted a study entitled Analysis of Toluene Exposure Risk in Digital Printing Industry Workers in Kendari City. Method: The study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive survey method, the sample consisted of 100 employees, with detailed evaluations of 35 respondents in 7 locations. Air measurements were conducted on December 20, 2022 to determine the concentration of toluene, which ranged from 0.051 to 0.118 ppm. Result: The majority of respondents had a high school education (82.86%), were over 30 years old (57.14%), and were male (91.43%). Although the toluene concentration was far below the threshold of 50 ppm, the highest Intake (I) value was recorded at 0.481 mg/kg/day. Of the 35 HQ values analyzed, 15 exceeded 1, indicating a high health risk. In addition, 32 RQ values indicated a high carcinogenic risk. Conclusion: The need for good risk management even though toluene concentrations are within safe limits and the variation in health risks among workers indicates the importance of continuous monitoring and better risk management.

Abstract

Introduction:Dengue fever remains a serious health problem in Indonesia, including in Kendari City, with cases occurring annually. In 2023, Kendari City successfully reduced dengue fever morbidity through the "1 house, 1 mosquito larvae" initiative. This study aims to describe the "1 house, 1 mosquito larvae" initiative at the Poasia Community Health Center.Method:Qualitative research and case study design were conducted in 2024. The key informants in this study were the coordinators of infectious disease control at community health centers, while general informants included the heads of community health centers, movement managers, village heads, and the heads of the infectious disease prevention and control section of the Kendari City Health Office.Result:Demonstrate conformity with the policy implementation theory and guidelines of this movement which include standards and objectives, characteristics of implementing organizations, communication between implementing organizations, disposition, and environment (social, economic, and political).Conclusion:There is a need for training in the use of Android-based applications for coordinators and supervisors, forming a team with the Village Office and socializing how to become a Coordinator and Supervisor to the Community.

Abstract

Background : The incidence of HIV/AIDS occurs in many productive ages with the highest percentage in men. At Kendari City Hospital, there is a significant increase in new cases of HIV/AIDS every year, especially in the MSM group. The average proportion of HIV/AIDS cases in MSM in 2021 is 65.4%; in 2022 it is 74.3%, and in 2023 it is 77.1%. This study aims to analyse the risk of HIV status and anal sex on HIV/AIDS transmission in the group of men who have sex with men (MSM) at Kendari City Hospital. Method : This type of research is a quantitative study with a case control design. The study population consisted of 349 cases and 423 controls. The minimum sample size taken was 75 case subjects and 75 control subjects, with sample withdrawal using random sampling. Data analysis was carried out descriptively, epidemiology and logistic regression analysis. Results: This research found the Odds Ratio (OR) of HIV status of couples was obtained at 30.545 and anal sex was 7.042.  Conclusion : The conclusion in this study is that the HIV status of the couple and anal sex are behavioural factors for the risk of HIV/AIDS in the group of Men who have sex with men at Kendari City Hospital. It is expected that the Kendari City Health Office will increase socialization activities about the use of condoms and examination for sexually transmitted infections as an effort to prevent HIV/AIDS, especially to the MSM group. This can be done through cross-sectoral cooperation with other agencies as well as the involvement of NGOs and moving with the community.

Abstract

Masyarakat suku Bajo di Desa Hakatutobu hanya 8 rumah yang memiliki jamban dan sisanya 81 rumah tidak memiliki jamban. Berdasarkan studi pendahuluan pada 10 rumah, terdapat ó rumah tangga berpengetahuan kurang, dan 7 rumah tangga persepsi kurang. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui faktor yang berhubungan dengan perilaku buang air besar sembarangan pada masyarakat bajo di Desa Hakatutobu Kecamatan Pomalaa Kabupaten Kolaka. Jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan Cross-sectional study, populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah jumlah masyarakat Bajo sebayak 89 KK, teknik penarikan sampel secara Simple Random Sampling, jumlah sampel sebanyak 48 responden, analisis menggunakan uji Chi-Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan antara pengetahuan dengan perilaku BABS dengan nilai X2hitung > X2tabel (7,769 > 3,841), ada hubungan signifikan antara pendapatan KK dengan Perilaku BABS dengan nilai X2hitung > X2tabel (6,976 > 3,841), dan ada hubungan signifikan antara persepsi masyarakat Bajo dengan perilaku BABS dengan nilai X2hitung > X2tabel (5,127 > 3,841). Saran dalam penelitian ini adalah bagi puskesmas diharapkan petugas kesling rutin melakukan penyuluhan tentang Perilaku BABS pada Masyarakat Bajo.

Abstract

Introduction: Skin diseases are among the most common public health problems in coastal areas, including among the Bajo community in Baliara Village, West Kabaena Subdistrict, Bombana Regency. The community’s close interaction with the marine environment, limited implementation of personal hygiene, and inadequate sanitation conditions increase the risk of skin diseases. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge, attitudes, personal hygiene practices, and environmental sanitation with the incidence of skin diseases among the Bajo people. Method: This research employed a quantitative analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 330 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using the Spearman Rank test and logistic regression. Result: The results showed a significant relationship between all independent variables and the incidence of skin diseases, namely knowledge (p = 0.001; OR = 2.31), attitude (p = 0.005; OR = 1.92), personal hygiene practices (p = 0.041; OR = 1.67), and environmental sanitation (p = 0.000; OR = 2.86). Among all variables, environmental sanitation was the most dominant factor. Conclusion: The study concludes that personal hygiene behavior and environmental sanitation play a crucial role in preventing skin diseases. Therefore, public health interventions involving education, behavior change, and improvement of sanitation infrastructure are essential to reduce the incidence of skin diseases in coastal communities.

Abstract

Introduction: Dermatitis is a common skin health problem in Baliara Village. Data from the West Kabaena Community Health Center shows a fluctuating trend: 12 cases in 2021, 23 in 2022, a decrease to 8 in 2023, and an increase to 25 in 2025. The main risk factors include limited clean water and exposure to the mining environment. This study Sanitation and Hygiene Factors Related to the Incidence of Dermatitis in the Community of Baliara Village, West Kabaena. Method: This research was quantitative with a cross-sectional design. The study was conducted from June to July 2025, with 317 respondents. The population in this study was 1,532. The research instrument was a closed-ended questionnaire, with data analysis using the chi-square test and logistic regression in SPSS. Result: The results of the bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between access to clean water (p = 0.015) and environmental factors (p = 0.000) with the incidence of dermatitis. The logistic regression analysis indicated that environmental factors were the most dominant variable influencing the incidence of dermatitis (OR = 2.86), followed by access to clean water (OR = 1.67). Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that environmental factors are the primary determinant of dermatitis incidence among the coastal community in Baliara Village. To reduce the incidence of dermatitis, it is recommended to improve sanitation infrastructure and the provision of clean water in coastal areas, implement continuous health and hygiene education, and strengthen monitoring of the environmental impacts of mining activities.
