Abstract

The 2024 Indonesian presidential election marked a significant shift in political engagement, particularly among young voters, who leveraged digital platforms and fandom culture to promote their preferred candidates. This study explores the K-popification of Anies Baswedan’s campaign, a phenomenon where youth-driven political participation mirrored K-pop fandom dynamics, transforming traditional electoral strategies. By utilizing Philip Niffenegger’s 4P Model of Political Marketing which involved Product, Promotion, Price, and Place, this research examines how Anies Baswedan's campaign evolved into a fan-centric movement that increased visibility, engagement, and voter mobilization. The study employs a qualitative case study approach, analyzing social media content, grassroots initiatives, and digital activism strategies that framed Anies Baswedan as an "idol-like" figure. Findings suggest that youth engagement in political campaigns is shifting from passive participation to interactive, community-driven movements, facilitated by social media’s algorithmic power. This research contributes to the growing discourse on political marketing, fandom activism, and digital youth mobilization, highlighting the blurring boundaries between entertainment culture and electoral politics. However, the phenomenon appears largely confined to younger, digitally active demographics and may not resonate with older or rural populations who are less engaged in online platforms. Future studies should explore the potential of translating such digital movements into broader, offline civic engagement to assess their long-term impact and inclusivity.

Abstract

The researcher aimed to study the democratic process of the practices of the political parties of Bangladesh on Power Transmission since 2006. The study applied the qualitative descriptive method. This article aimed to measure the democratic process, power transmission, and the systematic crisis of the political parties with their wings. The investigation found that the practices of the parties are not purely democratic since the independence of the country. The government is mostly entitled by the two significant parties though there is a showcase of democratic elections. The election commission is responsible for the fair election, but unfortunately, that is not independent at all. Moreover, the most significant issue is the distrust amongst authorities. That is why there are constitutional changes usually happen due to dishonesty under the dominant party. The Study refers to the amendment of the 15th constitutional practice, making the election system unfair because the election was happening while the current government still controls the systems. It makes the opposition not to trust in the election commission. Thus, the country needs to have a non-dominant electoral mechanism and back to the amendment of the 13th old practices to make sure the democracy and transparency of the leadership in the country by the fair election. Furthermore, it will ensure the stability and the commitment of all bureaucrats to fulfill their services properly without any kind of influence.

Abstract

Village can become an arena for strengthening democracy because national and regional and even village political agendas all lead to the village political arena. However, democracy in villages is also often haunted by the practice of money politics. Responding to the phenomenon of money politics in society and effort to strengthen democracy at the village level, Bawaslu of the Republic of Indonesia is implementing the Anti-Money Politics (APU) Village program as a preemptive and preventive measure. This research aims to examine further efforts to strengthen village democracy during the pandemic by identifying and evaluating the APU Village Program in Indonesia. This research also uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques, namely interviews, focus group discussions, and expert meetings. This research undertook in four provinces—West Java, Central Java, South Sulawesi, and North Kalimantan—were the sites of the research. According to the study's findings, Bawaslu lacks a vision, a roadmap, a specific budget, indications for towns deserving of becoming APU towns, and collaboration in the planning of APU Villages. From an institutional standpoint, Bawaslu is now lacking in a framework, a thorough assessment, local actors, and instructional materials. Bawaslu has not developed human resources, conducted extensive training, evaluated the comprehension of village actors, or established an APU Village volunteer team in the area of human resources.

Abstract

This study aims to present a history of city branding: hyper-competition, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. The method used in this study used qualitative with a literature study approach. The findings in the study showed that in understanding the place and building city branding, there are at least three processes first through urban governance planning or infrastructure, then observation by looking at other places in the city branding. Finally, branding representation on social media is in the form of websites and tweets through news, while Instagram is through branding images from somewhere and several other media. Furthermore, City branding can be hyper-competition, showing that business competition is increasing. On the other hand, it can be a challenge and an opportunity considering that many cities have reimagined their competitive strategies by maximizing their internal potential, namely existing resources, to take opportunities and anticipate the threats faced. The contribution of this study provides an understanding of measurements in the city branding literature, helps researchers discover new studies, and can interpret the complex nature of cities. Another thing is that closing the gap between theory and practice presents a huge challenge for brands.

Abstract

This study investigates the collaborative governance strategies employed by the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) in leveraging its special regional funds to advance regional development and address local needs. Focusing on the cooperation between the regional government, local government units (LGUs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and community groups, the research utilizes a qualitative descriptive approach and data analysis with NVivo 12 Plus. Findings reveal that collaborative governance in DIY is primarily driven by LGUs, which contribute to the partnership with an intensity of 72%, while NGOs and community involvement are comparatively limited at 13%. The research underscores the high engagement level of local government units in utilizing DIY’s special funds to enhance service quality, promote economic empowerment, and support education and community welfare. Despite these efforts, the study highlights a critical need to balance collaboration intensity across sectors, ensuring that private sector and community contributions are effectively integrated into the governance framework. By doing so, the equitable distribution and sustainable impact of DIY's special funds can be maximized, promoting broader socio-economic benefits across the region. This research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on collaborative governance by highlighting the importance of inclusive multi-actor engagement for regional resource utilization and effective governance outcomes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the concept of asymmetric decentralization and the implications of implementing asymmetric decentralization in the context of moving the national capital from Jakarta to Ibu Kota Nusantara. This study used a normative juridical method with a legislative approach and a conceptual approach. The results of the study show that asymmetric decentralization as applied in Indonesia can be seen in the efforts to relocate the national capital as regulated by Law Number 2 of 2024. The relocation of the national capital from Jakarta to Ibu Kota Nusantara leads to the concept of functional asymmetric decentralization, which emphasizes the division of power based on function and productivity rather than geographical boundaries. The relocation of the capital from Jakarta to Ibu Kota Nusantara has implications for governance, triggering various problems, including infrastructure and resource capacity imbalances, the emergence of social polarization and urban gentrification, and overlapping authorities and policies due to the absence of a legal framework that explicitly regulates coordination between Jakarta and Ibu Kota Nusantara.

Abstract

This study discusses the problem of protection and the position of children out of wedlock in Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, especially in the context of differences and similarities in legal policies between the two countries based on the perspective of Islamic jurisprudence. Children out of wedlock often face serious legal and social challenges, such as limited recognition of biological fathers, inheritance rights, and inherent social stigma. This research uses a qualitative approach with the library research method. Data was collected from a variety of relevant secondary sources, including scientific journals, law and jurisprudence books, as well as official documents such as national laws and regulations and Constitutional Court rulings in Indonesia. The analysis was carried out comparatively by examining the policy of protection of children out of wedlock in Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam from the perspective of positive law and Islamic jurisprudence. The results of the study show that Indonesia has adopted a relatively more inclusive policy in providing protection for the rights of children out of wedlock through legislative reforms and Constitutional Court rulings. However, its implementation is still hampered by social factors such as societal stigma and low legal awareness. Meanwhile, Brunei Darussalam, which strictly applies Sharia law, shows a tendency towards more limited protection, especially related to the recognition of inheritance rights and the civil status of children out of wedlock. This article concludes that the differences in legal approaches in the two countries reflect the dynamics of Islamic jurisprudence interpretation in the context of modern countries. Both Indonesia and Brunei need to improve public legal literacy and make efforts to reduce social stigma to ensure more effective and equitable protection for children out of wedlock.
