Abstract

This research aimed to develop and assess the practicality and effectiveness of the Articulate Storyline Media (ASM) for teaching biodiversity, focusing on tropical rainforest content, for 10th-class students. The study applied the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate). Data collected were student responses for practicality and test results in assessing critical and creative thinking skills. Results showed that the interactive media achieved a practicality rating of 74% and 100% for the students and teacher, respectively. The effectiveness of the ASM in enhancing the creative thinking skills in the experimental class was significantly (p<0.000) higher, i.e., 89%, compared to 65% in the control group. These findings indicate that the Articulate Storyline media on biodiversity content efficiently and effectively enhances 10th-class students’ critical and creative thinking skills.

Abstract

The low understanding of concepts can be caused because the learning process is not maximized which makes students inactive, unable to think independently, more practical to find answers on the internet, and unable to express what they have learned. Digital School Books as a medium and learning model Survey, Question, Read, Reflection and Review (SQ4R) is an alternative that can activate students and make it easier to remember concepts so that learning is more meaningful. The purpose of this study was to describe the effect of the SQ4R learning model with digital school books on students' understanding of biology concepts in class VII at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah Nurussa'adah Sangkulirang Islamic Boarding School. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. The study population was students of class VII, using cluster random sampling technique which produced class VII.B as the experimental class and class VII.A as the control class. The results of the data analysis showed that there was an influence of the SQ4R learning model with digital school books on the understanding of biology concepts for class VII students at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah Nurussa'adah Sangkulirang Islamic Boarding School.

Abstract

Determine effect of a combination of turmeric rhizome extract (Curcuma longa L.) also temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza R.) on the mortality of Spodoptera litura F.. The experiment used a CRD with five treatment concentrations (0%, 35%, 40%, 45%, and 50%), each replicated five times. Mortality data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by LSD test. Combination of turmeric and temulawak extracts significantly affected armyworm mortality, with the highest mortality rate of 80% observed at a 50% concentration. These findings suggest that plant-based pesticides derived from turmeric and temulawak have potential as an eco-friendly pest control alternative.
