Abstract

Industri apel di Indonesia menghadapi berbagai tantangan, salah satunya adalah hama dan penyakit tanaman. Perawatan kebun apel dari serangan hama di Desa Bulukerto tidak menghasilkan keuntungan. Hal ini mendorong pendampingan serta pengembangan solusi berkelanjutan untuk pengendalian hama apel. Sasaran dari kegiatan ini adalah masyarakat kelompok tani sebanyak 20 orang. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk melakukan pendampingan penyiraman pupuk cair organik berbasis arduino untuk pengendalian hama pada kebun apel di Desa Bulukerto. Sistem ini menggunakan pupuk cair alami yang aman dan ramah lingkungan. Pupuk cair memanfaatkan limbah kulit apel yang kurang dimanfaatkan masyarakat. Adapun metode pelaksanaan meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan, pendampingan, dan monitoring. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa program ini mendapat respon positif dari masyarakat, memberikan pengetahuan baru kepada petani tentang penyiraman otomatis dapat meningkatkan penggunaan biopestisida ramah lingkungan, menghemat air melalui sistem penyiraman sehingga berpotensi meningkatkan hasil panen apel dan mengurangi kerugian. Kegiatan ini memberikan pemahaman baru bagi para petani mengenai teknologi penyiraman otomatis. Melalui pembinaan penyiraman otomatis dapat menjadi potensi terobosan baru dibidang pertanian berbasis teknologi.  Selain itu, respon positif dari masyarakat dapat dijadikan sebagai acuan kegiatan program kegiatan pengabdian selanjutnya.

Abstract

Desa Bulukerto sebagai penghasil perkebunan apel memiliki potensi yang beragam. Akan tetapi, banyak limbah yang belum dimanfaatkan dengan baik, sehingga perlu dilakukan sosialisasi. Tujuan dari penelitian pengabdian ini adalah untuk mengetahui respon masyarakat, khususnya petani apel, dalam mengelola limbah kulit apel menjadi pupuk cair organik. Diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kepedulian lingkungan dan mendukung pertanian berkelanjutan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini mendapat respon positif dari masyarakat dan dapat meningkatkan wawasan serta kesadaran masyarakat.

Abstract

Ngrangin Hamnlet, Sumberpasir Village, Malang Regency, is a major banana growing area that produces a lot of organic waste from banana stems. Sadly, this waste is not being used as well as it could be, even though there is a growing need for fertilizer, which is often hard to get for farming. The Purpose of this community service is to help banana farmers learn how to make compost from banana plant waste. This will help them become more self-sufficient effective in getting organic fertilizer locally. This workshop used a learning and hands on approach, including advice, practice and technical help. The activity was aimed at 26 banana farmers who belong to farmer group in Ngrangin Hamlet. The result show that the farmer understood more about recycling farm waste and had better skills in making compost. The compost was good quality, with a crumby texture, dark brown colour, and odorless. Another good thing was that banana farmer started working together to manage compost in the hamlet and they became more aware of sustainable farming methods. This activity shows that helping people locally with the right technology can be a good way to manage waste and provide the fertilizer farmers need.

Abstract

This study investigates science learning outcomes on the topic Matter and Its Changes among seventh-grade students at MTs, with a focus on gender differences. Using a descriptive survey method, the entire population of 77 students (two male classes and two female classes) was involved. Data were collected through post-tests, questionnaires, observations, and interviews, and analyzed quantitatively using the Mann-Whitney U test. The results show that female students had significantly higher average learning outcomes (64.04) compared to male students (45.50). Further analysis revealed that female students performed better at cognitive levels C3, C4, and C5, as well as across all subtopics. Qualitative findings from teacher interviews suggest that this difference is consistent and may be attributed to female students’ ambition and logical reasoning, as observed in class. However, questionnaire data indicate that male students report higher self-confidence. The study concludes that gender differences significantly influence science learning outcomes, with implications for instructional strategies and gender-responsive teaching practice

Abstract

Instilling tolerance through learning about cultural diversity remains a challenge due to its abstract nature for students, so technology-based learning media that can attract their attention and increase their engagement is needed. This study aims to develop and test the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of digital flipbook learning media containing cultural diversity in improving students' understanding and tolerance. This research is a research and development (R&D) study using the ADDIE model. The research subjects include 186 students and 7 fourth-grade elementary school teachers. Data were collected through interviews, observations, needs assessments, product validation, response questionnaires, comprehension tests, and tolerance character scales. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive quantitative methods and through paired sample t-tests, independent sample t-tests, and MANOVA. Validation results indicated that the media is highly suitable for use (subject matter experts = 85.2%; media experts = 95%). The media was deemed practical based on student and educator responses, with the highest score reaching the “very practical” category. Effectiveness tests showed significant differences in comprehension scores and tolerance character before and after using the digital flipbook (p < 0.005). MANOVA tests also indicated significant differences between the experimental and control groups simultaneously. Thus, the culturally-infused digital flipbook was proven effective in enhancing comprehension and fostering tolerance character, and is suitable for use as an innovative learning medium in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of variations in banana corm and banana fronds on the odor and physical properties of solid organic fertilizer made from household waste. In addition, the research also aims to identify the differences in odor and physical characteristics between solid organic fertilizer based on EM4 and that based on banana corm and fronds. The method used is an experimental approach to test the effectiveness of organic fertilizers produced from different raw materials: banana corm, banana frond, rice-washing water, and household waste (predominantly rotten tape). The first treatment used a mixture of banana corm, banana fronds, rice-washing water, and household waste in a 1:1:1:1 ratio. The second treatment consisted of banana fronds, rice-washing water, and household waste in a 1:1:1 ratio. The third treatment included banana corm, rice-washing water, and household waste, also in a 1:1:1 ratio. The fourth treatment used EM4, rice-washing water, and household waste in a ½:1:1 ratio. The results showed that on the first day, all treatments emitted a strong odor of tape and household waste. Over time, an acidic smell began to emerge, eventually turning into a fresh, earthy scent, particularly in treatments with banana corm and EM4. The color of the fertilizer changed from dark brown to blackish brown, indicating successful decomposition. The texture also changed from coarse to more crumbly and homogeneous. The treatment with EM4 showed faster fermentation and a more stable odor compared to the other treatments.
