Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the forms of habitus, realm, and capital in the lives of the characters in the novel entitled Jemput Terbawa by Pinto Anugrah. The study was conducted using the sociology of literature theory from Pierre Bourdieu which is categorized into three concepts: first, habitus which emphasizes how individual habits are formed through social experience, then second, capital as a social resource that plays an important role in maintaining power, and third, realm as an arena of struggle for individuals and groups to gain power. This research is qualitative in nature which aims to describe the forms of habitus, realm, and capital of the characters in the novel. The data sources in this study were obtained through narrative quotations in the novel and analyzed based on the concepts of habitus, realm, and capital. The results of this study indicate that the characters have different forms and roles in habitus, realm, and capital. This is because each individual has their own mindset, habits, and actions in dealing with their social environment. Kalaya's habitus and background are in conflict with the norms and past trauma in the Lembah Pagadih realm, which results in Laya experiencing rejection from society. His efforts to raise capital were hampered by the stigma from the villagers, making his struggle for recognition even more difficult.

Abstract

This article describe the comparison between extroverted and introverted characteristics of the main characters in the Korean version (2006) and the Indonesian version (2023) of the film 200 Pounds Beauty using Carl Gustav Jung’s analytical psychology approach. This approach was chosen because it can reveal personality dynamics through four psychic functions thinking, feeling, sensing, and intuition that shape an individual’s extroverted and introverted orientations. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a comparative design, using literature study and documentation techniques on both films. The data, consisting of dialogues, scenes, and expressions of the main characters, were analyzed to identify personality traits based on Jung’s theory.The results show that in the Korean version, the character Hanna/Jenny tends to be extroverted, demonstrated by her courage to appear in public and her pursuit of social recognition, while still harboring inner conflicts that reveal her introverted side. Meanwhile, in the Indonesian version, the character Juwita/Angel displays a balance between the two types, with a dominant introverted nature reflected through self-reflection, guilt, and moral awareness of her identity. Cultural differences also influence the expression of personality and the social values presented. This study concludes that Jung’s analytical psychology theory is effective for analyzing personality in cross-cultural films and understanding the process of self-acceptance.Keywords: analytical psychology; Carl Gustav Jung; extrovert; introvertArtikel ini  memaparkan komparasi karakter ekstrovert dan introvert tokoh utama dalam film 200 Pounds Beauty versi Korea (2006) dan versi Indonesia (2023) menggunakan pendekatan psikologi analitik Carl Gustav Jung. Pendekatan ini dipilih karena mampu mengungkap dinamika kepribadian melalui empat fungsi psikis pikiran, perasaan, pengindraan, dan intuisi yang membentuk orientasi ekstrovert dan introvert individu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan desain komparatif dan teknik studi pustaka serta dokumentasi terhadap kedua film. Data berupa dialog, adegan, dan ekspresi tokoh utama dianalisis untuk menemukan ciri kepribadian berdasarkan teori Jung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam versi Korea, tokoh Hanna/Jenny cenderung ekstrovert dengan keberanian tampil di ruang publik dan pencarian pengakuan sosial, namun tetap menyimpan konflik batin yang memperlihatkan sisi introvert. Sementara itu, tokoh Juwita/Angel dalam versi Indonesia memperlihatkan keseimbangan antara kedua tipe, dengan dominasi sifat introvert yang tercermin melalui refleksi diri, rasa bersalah, dan kesadaran moral terhadap identitasnya. Tokoh utama dalam kedua versi film menunjukkan ekspresi kepribadian yang berbeda dalam menanggapi konflik batin dan pencarian jati diri. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa teori psikologi analitik Jung efektif digunakan untuk menganalisis kepribadian tokoh dalam film dan memahami proses penerimaan diri melalui dinamika fungsi psikis.Kata kunci: Carl Gustav Jung; ekstrovert;  introvert;  psikologi analitik

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of mimicry and indigenous resistance portrayed in Bumi Manusia (This Earth of Mankind) by Pramoedya Ananta Toer through a postcolonial perspective. Grounded in Homi K. Bhabha’s theory of mimicry, the research investigates how colonial subjugation shaped the emergence of cultural resistance among indigenous characters. Employing a qualitative textual analysis with a dialectical approach, the study proceeds through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that mimicry operates as an ambivalent cultural strategy—simultaneously reproducing and undermining colonial authority. Four distinct forms of resistance emerge as the characters negotiate identity, agency, and autonomy under colonial domination. These forms demonstrate that mimicry functions not merely as imitation but as a subversive act of decolonial affirmation and identity reconstruction. The study contributes to postcolonial literary scholarship by situating Bumi Manusia within the broader discourse of decolonization and cultural hybridity in Southeast Asian literature. It also offers a localized understanding of subaltern resistance that enriches global discussions on the intersections of power, culture, and postcolonial subjectivity.

Abstract

This research discusses Derrida's deconstruction theory which focuses on texts that build new meanings and reinforce existing meanings. The object of this research uses a novel entitled "Azab and Sengsara" by Merari Siregar. The novel "Azab and Sengsara" is studied using Derrida's deconstruction theory with qualitative research methods sourced from literature review. The results of the research obtained are that there are new meanings and confirmation of meaning in the texts of the novel Azab and Sengsara, namely 1) Aminuddin's punishment for helping a friend, 2) Aminuddin's attitude of helping others, 3) Restriction of women's space by Sutan laying on his wife, 4) Strong disclosure of men's identity, 5) Women who were blessed by God to become men through the angel Gabriel, 6) Divorce became a common practice, 7) High belief in shamans, 8) Mariamin refused to have sexual relations with her husband, and 9) Women are bought to fulfill men's desires. This research then obtained results using Post-structuralism theory, namely the theory of deconstruction by Jacques Derrida.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the meaning, message, and representation of women in the film Pink using a radical feminist perspective. Through a qualitative approach with a textual analysis method, the research explores how the film critiques the patriarchal system and gender stereotypes in cases of sexual violence. The film serves not only as entertainment but also as a tool for education and advocacy, promoting awareness of the importance of gender equality and justice for victims of sexual violence. Pink highlights the issue of sexual violence and gender injustice rooted in the patriarchal system. It portrays how women are often blamed in cases of sexual harassment, while male perpetrators receive social protection. Radical feminism is employed to analyze the patriarchal structures presented in the film. The findings of this study reveal how women are frequently blamed in cases of sexual harassment, while male perpetrators are socially protected within the narrative of the film.

Abstract

This research aims to analyse the female characters in Haruki Murakami's Sputnik Sweetheart, namely Sumire and Miu, through the lens of Jean-Paul Sartre's existentialism. The main focus is on Sartre's three concepts of existentialism. The method used is a qualitative method with a text analysis approach. Several excerpts from the novel were selected and analysed based on Sartre's concept of existentialism. The analysis includes the identification and interpretation of key moments in the narrative that reflect existence for the self (être-pour-soi), existence in the self (être-en-soi), and bad faith (mauvaise foi or bad faith). The results show that the characters Sumire and Miu illustrate Sartre's existentialism concepts in depth about the existential struggle in dealing with their freedom, identity, and personal responsibility. The findings provide insights that can be applied to understanding the complexity of human relationships and the search for the meaning of life in the context of modern literature.

Abstract

Pelatihan Penguatan Nilai dan Karakter Budaya Lokal pada Anak Melalui Buku Cerita Bergambar yang dilaksanakan di Kampus Lorong Komunitas Anak Pelangi (K-apel) Makassar dihadirkan sebagai upaya untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal sejak usia dini melalui media yang menyenangkan dan mudah dipahami anak-anak. Kegiatan ini bertujuan menanamkan nilai dan karakter berbasis kearifan lokal kepada anak-anak sejak dini melalui media buku cerita bergambar yang menarik dan mudah dipahami, meningkatkan kecintaan dan kebanggaan terhadap budaya lokal, mengembangkan literasi budaya dan literasi visual melalui kegiatan membaca, mendengar, serta menafsirkan pesan moral yang terkandung dalam cerita bergambar, membentuk karakter positif anak seperti kejujuran, tanggung jawab, kerja sama, serta rasa hormat terhadap orang lain, yang direfleksikan dalam tokoh dan alur cerita, dan menyediakan alternatif metode pembelajaran kreatif bagi pendidik dan komunitas dalam mengajarkan nilai budaya dan karakter melalui pendekatan literasi berbasis budaya. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan yang dikemas dalam bentuk pelatihan diikuti 50 peserta yang merupakan anak yang aktif belajar di K-apel. Hasil dari kegiatan ini memperlihatkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman anak terhadap cerita rakyat dan kebudayaan lokal yang dimanifestasikan melalui buku cerita bergambar.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan peran mahasiswa sastra dalam mendukung administrasi Badan Pengelolaan Keuangan Daerah dalam bidang aset sebagai upaya penerapan kemampuan linguistik dalam praktik kerja pemerintahan. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi observasi langsung di tempat magang, keterlibatan aktif dalam penyusunan surat dinas, digitalisasi arsip, penginputan dan verifikasi data aset melalui sistem e-BMD, serta penyuntingan laporan inventaris dan berita acara aset. Selama magang, mahasiswa terlibat secara langsung dalam berbagai kegiatan administrasi yang menuntut ketelitian dan pemahaman terhadap bahasa administratif. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa kehadiran mahasiswa sastra mampu membantu mempercepat proses dokumentasi, meningkatkan akurasi bahasa dalam dokumen resmi, dan memperkuat efisiensi kerja birokrasi.

Abstract

Kegiatan Magang yang dilakukan dalam pelayanan administrasi publik di bidang pengelolaan keuangan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengalaman dan pengetahuan mahasiswa dalam administrasi Badan Pengelolaan Keuangan Daerah Gowa pada bidang Anggaran, Perbendaharaan, dan Akuntansi. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan dalam kegiatan meliputi keterlibatan aktif mahasiswa secara langsung dalam tugas-tugas yang diberikan di setiap bidang, mulai dari menulis, memberikan stempel, mengirimkan berkas arsip, serta mengobservasi berkas-berkas yang berhubungan dengan setiap bidang seperti berkas SP2D, SPJ,SKPD, SPP, DAN SPM. Hasil Praktik magang mahasiswa sastra dalam bidang pelayanan administrasi publik dapat disimpulkan relvansi antara mahasiswa dan instansi memiliki relevansi yang signifikan. Kemampuan utama yang dimiliki mahasiswa sastra, seperti kecermatan dalam menulis, ketelitian dalam membaca dan memahami dokumen, serta keahlian dalam berkomunikasi efektif secara tertulis, mampu menjadi modal penting dalam mendukung pekerjaan administratif yang menuntut ketepatan dan kejelasan informasi.

Abstract

This study analyses Sapardi Djoko Damono's novel Sunyi adalah Minuman Keras (Silence is Alcohol), focusing on power relations over the body and mind, as well as forms of resistance that emerge in the text. This study aims to analyse Sapardi Djoko Damono's novel Sunyi adalah Minuman Keras (Silence is Alcohol), focusing on power relations over the body and mind, as well as forms of resistance that emerge in the text. Using a qualitative approach and Michel Foucault's critical discourse analysis, this study explains how power operates through language and shapes individual subjectivity in the novel. The results show that cognitive control mechanisms such as manipulation, objectification, and stigmatisation reflect power relations over the mind. These mechanisms shape the way characters view themselves and their world. Furthermore, social control that regulates physical actions, lifestyles, and bodily discipline reveals that power relations over the body are often reinforced by cultural and religious norms. The novel also depicts resistance to power through various explicit and implicit means in the characters' storylines. This study shows that Sunyi is Minuman Keras is not merely a work of literature, but also a complex representation of the power dynamics that shape human life. This study helps us understand how literary discourse can both replicate and challenge power structures in society.
