Abstract

This research discusses the effect of excellent service and effective communication on customer loyalty at Excelso Vitka Point Tiban Batam, with increasing business competition in the food and beverage industry, customer loyalty is one of the keys to the success and sustainability of the company. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Excellent Service (X1) and Effective Communication (X2) on Customer Loyalty (Y) at Excelso Vitka Point Tiban Batam, the data analysis method used in this study is multiple linear regression, by distributing questionnaires to 91 respondents who have made purchases at Excelso Vitka Point Tiban Batam with accidental sampling method, testing the research hypothesis using SPSS. The results of this study suggest that pasrial excellent service has a positive and significant effect on customer loyalty (sig <α), effective communication has a positive but insignificant effect on customer loyalty (sig>α), excellent service and effective communication have a positive and significant effect simultaneously (sig<α).

Abstract

 Keunikan kopi Indonesia yang telah menyebar ke seluruh dunia secara global dan tumbuh menjadi budaya perilaku dan gaya hidup. Kajian fenomenologi ini bertujuan untuk mengelaborasi kopi secara khusus dalam budaya Melayu. Wilayah Kepulauan Riau tidak mengalami penjajahan Inggris secara historis, sehingga tidak mengenal budaya waktu minum teh. Sebaliknya, masyarakat Melayu mengenal kopi untuk dikonsumsi karena memiliki efek memberikan semangat bekerja akibat kandungan kafein di dalamnya. Kopi juga menjadi pelengkap yang enak karena mudah disajikan, hanya perlu diseduh dengan air panas dan cocok dipadukan dengan aneka cemilan. Perilaku sosial laki-laki Melayu yang suka duduk bersama sambil menunggu melaut memberikan peluang bisnis bagi para pedagang, orang Tionghoa, yang selama ini selalu hidup berdampingan dengan orang Melayu di Kepulauan Riau. Maka dari yang awalnya hanya kumpulan orang di pinggir laut, munculah kedai kopi tiam kopi. ‘Kedai Kopi Ameng” adalah salah satu kedai kopi terkenal dengan merek kopi lokalnya bernama Kopi Ameng yang kini memiliki cabang di Batam mengikuti sejarah legenda berdirinya Kopi Ameng di Belakang Padang selama bertahun-tahun. Tradisi ini tidak hanya menjadi ajang untuk mempertemukan berbagai usia, latar belakang suku, agama, dan profesi, tetapi juga menjadi ikon kopi Melayu dan representasi interaksi sosial budaya masyarakat Melayu

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan daya tarik wisata yang dimiliki Pantai VioVio di Kota Batam, Provinsi Kepulauan Riau, melalui pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Sebagai destinasi wisata bahari yang tengah berkembang, Pantai VioVio menawarkan berbagai keunggulan seperti lanskap alam yang indah, suasana pantai yang masih alami, dan sejumlah atraksi pendukung yang digemari wisatawan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi langsung, wawancara mendalam dengan wisatawan dan pemangku kepentingan, serta dokumentasi visual. Analisis penelitian mengacu pada enam komponen utama pengembangan destinasi (6A): Attraction, Activities, Accessibility, Amenities, Ancillary Services, dan Available Package. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun Pantai VioVio memiliki potensi besar sebagai destinasi unggulan, masih terdapat beberapa kendala yang perlu diatasi, seperti aksesibilitas yang terbatas, minimnya layanan pendukung, serta kurangnya promosi dan paket wisata tematik. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan peningkatan infrastruktur, penyediaan fasilitas yang lebih memadai, serta penguatan kolaborasi multipihak untuk mewujudkan pengelolaan destinasi yang berkelanjutan dan kompetitif.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menelusuri serta merancang strategi storytelling yang optimal dalam mendukung peran Museum Raja Ali Haji sebagai media edukasi dan objek wisata budaya di Kota Batam. Dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, penelitian ini menggabungkan teknik observasi langsung, wawancara mendalam, serta telaah pustaka guna mengidentifikasi potensi kisah-kisah sejarah dan budaya Melayu yang dapat dikemas melalui teknik penceritaan. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan storytelling yang mengangkat nilai-nilai lokal, seperti riwayat hidup Raja Ali Haji dan warisan budaya Melayu, mampu meningkatkan daya tarik museum, memperkuat jati diri budaya, serta mendorong partisipasi aktif dari pengunjung, khususnya generasi muda. Studi ini merekomendasikan pengembangan narasi dalam bentuk visual dan audio, peningkatan kapasitas pemandu wisata, serta pemanfaatan teknologi digital guna menciptakan pengalaman kunjungan yang lebih mendalam. Oleh karena itu, storytelling dinilai sebagai strategi yang efektif dalam memperkuat peran museum sebagai pusat pembelajaran dan destinasi budaya yang relevan dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Sumber daya manusia merupakan faktor utama yang harus diprioritaskan dalam upaya mempertahankan laju roda perusahaan. Aspek aspek yang dapat memberi dukungan terhadap kinerja yang mumpuni seorang karyawan dapat meliputi faktor lingkungan kerja, keselamatan kerja, dan kepuasan kerja yang dirasakan oleh karyawan. Penelitian ini mengkaji dampak lingkungan, keselamatan, dan kepuasan kerja terhadap kinerja karyawan. Terdapat 106 responden yang dikumpulkan melalui survey dengan purposive sampling, studi ini menemukan lingkungan kerja berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja. Keselamatan kerja berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja. Kepuasan kerja berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja. Dan secara simultan lingkungan kerja, keselamatan kerja dan kepuasan kerja memiliki pengaruh signfikan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Hal ini memberi perspektif situasi kerja yang dapat memberi peran terhadap pencapaian tujuan organsasi. Perspektif tersebut adalah kondisi fisik dan non-fisik di tempat kerja yang harus mencerminkan rasa nyaman serta terlindungi dari potensi bahaya di tempat kerja, dan adanya penghargaan, serta minimnya rasa khawatir akan cedera atau kecelakaan. Situasi lingkungan, keselamatan dan kepuasan kerja menjadi daya dorong karyawan untuk memberikan upaya terbaik, berinovasi, dan proaktif dalam menyelesaikan tugas, yang secara langsung berdampak pada peningkatan kinerja organisasi, sehingga dapat terus memposisikan diri dalam persaingan industri dan pasar yang dilayani.

Abstract

The effectiveness of learning methods continues to face numerous challenges, particularly in the rapidly evolving digital era. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the effectiveness of learning methods within the context of higher education. A quantitative approach was employed through a survey, with data collected using questionnaires distributed to 114 students from the Culinary Management Department. The data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method with SmartPLS version 4.0 software. The prerequisite analysis confirmed that the measurement model met the criteria for validity and reliability. The research findings indicate that student characteristics have a positive but statistically insignificant influence on the effectiveness of learning methods, although the small effect size still holds some relevance. Similarly, the quality of learning exhibits a positive yet non-significant relationship with learning effectiveness, with a relatively greater effect size than student characteristics. Conversely, the learning environment shows a negative and negligible correlation with learning effectiveness, marked by a very minimal effect size. In contrast, learning technology emerges as a key factor, showing a significant and positive impact on the effectiveness of learning methods, supported by a relatively substantial effect size. In conclusion, learning technology plays a critical role in enhancing the effectiveness of learning in the digital era, while other factors may require reevaluation or strategic integration to better support educational outcomes.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the influence of entrepreneurship education on students’ career readiness as job creators, with self-efficacy serving as a mediating variable. The research is driven by the growing emphasis on preparing vocational graduates not only to become job seekers but also to develop as future entrepreneurs. Methodology: The study was conducted at Batam Tourism Polytechnic and involved 142 active students who had completed entrepreneurship courses. A quantitative approach was applied using a questionnaire consisting of 18 items representing three key constructs. Data were analyzed using SmartPLS 4.0 with the SEM-PLS method to assess both the measurement and structural models. Results: The results indicate that entrepreneurship education has a significant impact on career readiness, both directly (? = 0.42, p < 0.001) and indirectly through self-efficacy (indirect ? = 0.19, p < 0.001). Self-efficacy plays a significant mediating role in the relationship between entrepreneurship education and career readiness. The R² value of 0.51 suggests that the model explains more than half of the variance in the career readiness variable, and the model fit is considered good (SRMR = 0.071). Conclusions: Entrepreneurship education meaningfully enhances students’ confidence and their perceived readiness to become entrepreneurs, especially when supported by high levels of self-efficacy. Limitations: This study focuses only on cognitive and psychological aspects of readiness and does not account for practical challenges such as access to capital or other external barriers. Contribution: This study contributes to the fields of vocational entrepreneurship education, human resource management, and career development by providing insights into how educational programs can nurture entrepreneurial potential and promote proactive career planning among future graduates.

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan negara yang kaya akan kuliner dan warisan budaya, salah satunya adalah jajanan tradisional. Jajanan tradisional kerap ditemui di pasar tradisional. Pada penelitian ini, dilakukan studi kasus pada Pasar Penuin Batam sebagai tempat penelitian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh kualitas produk terhadap minat beli Gen Z jajanan tradisional di Kota Batam. Studi ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah pembeli jajanan tradisional di Pasar Penuin yang berusia 13-27 tahun. Total sampel yang digunakan adalah 100 responden, pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik nonprobability sampling dengan metode purposive sampling. Pengolahan data dilakukan dengan aplikasi IBM SPSS Statistics 19. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kualitas produk memiliki pengaruh signifikan dan bernilai positif terhadap minat beli Gen Z jajanan tradisional di Kota Batam, khususnya di Pasar Penuin.

Abstract

The community service team carries out outreach and training activities because it is beneficial for Vitka Holding employees and re-sharpens their abilities, especially in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation. This activity was carried out in collaboration with lecturers and leaders of Vitka Holding to ensure the event remained strong and on target. This service is provided by conducting socialization and training in the Batam Tourism Polytechnic's Natuna room on Friday, November 3 2023. It is hoped that by participating in this activity, employees can better understand the importance of cleanliness and proper equipment for every incident they face, and then apply this knowledge. in everyday life. Increasing cleanliness around Vitka Holding will certainly be beneficial for the foundation. This socialization and training action is a form of love carried out to improve the competence of others. This outreach and training can help staff gain an understanding of appropriate cleaning supplies and equipment for the public areas where they work. This practice is also in line with the objectives of PkM which aims to provide reciprocity to the community. This training was carried out in collaboration with the teaching team and leaders of Vitka Holding. This is intended so that project participants, in particular, gain good principles and learning through this exercise.

Abstract

Several lecturers are members of the community service team carrying out Hygiene Care Practice Activities with Employees in the Vitka Fitness Center, Excelso, Nasi Kapau Pak Nin, RM Simple, and Café Momo. This activity is very necessary and beneficial for a company, so all cleaning workers must take advantage of this training. This service is carried out by visiting the destination where the method is to analyze and solve the problem by providing theoretical and practical guidance which takes place in several Vitka Holding Housekeeping Departments. In this service, local supervisors act as companions for the workers who receive direction from the service team. The service members also provide direct direction to workers who are responsible for cleanliness in the Vitka Holding environment. This was done based on observations by management who assessed that the level of cleanliness in the work environment had decreased. Vitka Holding Housekeeping Department itself is one umbrella with the superior, leading, quality Batam Tourism Polytechnic which is a center for tourism education and development, especially in the hospitality sector which gave birth to housekeeping, no doubt located on Jalan Gajah Mada the Vitka City Complex, Tiban Batam, Riau Islands Province , which has 4 majors, namely Rooms Division Management, Cuisine Division Management, Culinary Division Management and Tourism Planning Management. The expected results of this training are that workers will be more skilled and competent in carrying out their work and provide comfort for all guests who visit the Vitka Holding environment.
