Abstract

This study investigates students’ performance in the Cambridge Lower Secondary Test, especially in science subjects, after implementing the AIR (Auditory, Intellectually, and Repetition) learning model. The research subjects are ICP (International Class Program), totaling 16 students at SMP IT Albiruni Mandiri Makassar. The implementation of the AIR model is carried out since students are in stage 8 and continue to stage 9. The type of test for stages 7 and 8 is the Cambridge Lower Secondary Progression Test. The stage 9 test type is the Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint. The test results are described in the form of grades, namely Bronze, Silver, and Gold. At stage 7, the percentage of students who received Bronze was 68.75%, Silver 31.25%, and Gold 0.00%. There was a significant increase in stage 8, with 37.50% who got Bronze, 18.75% got Silver, and 43.75% got Gold. Then at stage 9, there was an increase of 68.75% of students who got Gold, 12.50% got Silver, and 18.75% got Bronze

Abstract

The Merdeka curriculum uses differentiation in content, process, and product, with DSI process differentiation through tiered activities and varied guidance to accommodate diverse student learning styles. The research aimed to determine the level of concept understanding among students at the inquiry level, both before and after being taught using the DSI learning model based on the TaRL approach in class VIII. The subjects were 34 students from a junior high school in Makassar. This research was a pre-experimental with a one-group pretest-posttest design, involving an experimental group and a control group. Data collection used initial ability and concept understanding tests on light and optical devices through pre-tests and post-tests. Research findings showed that the student significantly improved their conceptual understanding, with average scores increasing from 6.31 on the pre-test to 16.12 on the post-test. Then, the DSI Model within the TaRL approach was effective in strengthening the students’ conceptual understanding of science subjects.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan menguji kelayakan serta kepraktisan e-modul berbasis Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) dengan pendekatan Conceptual Change Model with Cognitive Conflict Approach (CCM-CCA) yang terintegrasi kearifan lokal dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan literasi lingkungan siswa. Penelitian menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan model 4D yang meliputi tahap define, design, develop, dan disseminate (terbatas). Instrumen penelitian berupa lembar validasi ahli serta angket kepraktisan guru dan siswa. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif (Aiken’s V dan rumus persentase) dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa e-modul yang dikembangkan memiliki tingkat kelayakan sangat tinggi, ditinjau dari aspek isi, penyajian, bahasa, dan desain media dengan rata-rata indeks Aiken’s V 0,91. Integrasi isu-isu SDGs dengan konteks kearifan lokal serta penerapan sintaks CCM-CCA dinilai mampu memfasilitasi perubahan konseptual dan pembelajaran yang bermakna. Selain itu, hasil uji kepraktisan menunjukkan bahwa e-modul tergolong sangat praktis berdasarkan respon positif guru dan siswa dengan skor 88,3 dan 84,9, baik dari segi kemudahan penggunaan, kejelasan instruksi, maupun daya tarik tampilan. Sehingga e-modul berbasis SDGs dengan pendekatan CCM-CCA terintegrasi kearifan lokal dinyatakan layak dan praktis untuk digunakan sebagai bahan ajar inovatif yang berpotensi mendukung pengembangan berpikir kritis dan literasi lingkungan siswa.

Abstract

Limited laboratory facilities and the low utilization of technology in science learning are among the main challenges in improving students’ conceptual understanding, particularly for abstract topics. One possible solution is the use of a virtual laboratory based on PhET Interactive Simulations. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to enhance teachers’ understanding and skills in utilizing virtual laboratory-based learning media. The activity was conducted in the form of training for teachers at UPT SPF SMPN 27 Makassar using the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method. The implementation consisted of three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and participant feedback. The results indicate that the training was successfully carried out and received positive responses from participants, with satisfaction levels categorized as very good (above 80%). Furthermore, teachers demonstrated improved understanding and skills in using PhET Simulation as a learning medium, particularly in explaining abstract science concepts. Therefore, this training can serve as an alternative solution to overcome laboratory limitations and support more interactive, visual, and meaningful learning.

Abstract

Mahasiswa Kimia semester awal masih sering mengalami kesulitan dalam menemukan referensi ilmiah yang kredibel untuk kepentingan akademik, seperti penulisan laporan praktikum, penyusunan makalah, dan penyelesaian tugas perkuliahan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dasar mahasiswa dalam menelusuri serta mengevaluasi jurnal ilmiah nasional terakreditasi SINTA. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 28 mahasiswa Kimia semester 2 dan dilaksanakan melalui penyampaian materi, demonstrasi, praktik langsung, diskusi, serta evaluasi. Materi pelatihan meliputi pentingnya jurnal ilmiah, perbedaan sumber ilmiah dan non-ilmiah, penggunaan portal SINTA, tingkatan akreditasi jurnal, strategi pemilihan kata kunci, teknik penelusuran artikel, serta indikator kualitas jurnal ilmiah. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa memberikan respons positif dan menunjukkan antusiasme selama sesi praktik dan diskusi. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan berada pada kategori baik hingga sangat baik, terutama pada aspek kejelasan tujuan pelatihan dan kesesuaian materi dengan kebutuhan akademik mahasiswa. Kegiatan ini berkontribusi dalam memperkuat literasi informasi akademik mahasiswa serta memberikan bekal dasar dalam menggunakan referensi ilmiah yang kredibel untuk mendukung penulisan akademik.
