Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' problem-solving abilities and mathematical semiotics based on Adversity Quotient (AQ). This qualitative research uses a descriptive approach. The research subjects were selected using an AQ questionnaire and conducted in Class IX F of SMP Negeri 14 Raja Ampat, involving three students divided into three groups. The first group consisted of one climber-type student, the second group included one camper-type student, and the third group included one quitter-type student. Data collection techniques included an AQ questionnaire, tests, and unstructured interviews. Data analysis techniques involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results indicate that an analysis of students' problem-solving abilities and mathematical semiotics based on adversity quotient shows that students in the climber category have excellent problem-solving abilities, meeting all four problem-solving indicators according to Polya's theory. These students also demonstrate an understanding of semiotics from Peirce's perspective, successfully solving problems using this approach. Students in the camper category show moderate problem-solving abilities, meeting three indicators: understanding, planning, and executing the problem-solving process, but lack in reviewing their answers. Regarding semiotics from Peirce's perspective, camper-category students can create signs, identify objects, and interpret signs but struggle to complete the final solution. In contrast, quitter-type students display low problem-solving abilities, failing to meet the problem-solving indicators according to Polya's theory or the semiotic indicators from Peirce's perspective.

Abstract

Berawal dari rendahnya level PISA matematika dirasa sangat memprihatinkan. Padahal salah satu aspek yang diukur oleh PISA adalah kemampuan berpikir kritis, yang dianggap sebagai indikator penting dalam menilai kesiapan siswa menghadapi tuntutan masyarakat modern. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan ialah deskriptif kualitatif, yang dilaksanakan di Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Subyek dalam penelitian ini ialah 3 orang peserta didik kelas VIII. Hasil penelitian: Kemapuan berpikir kritis dengan kategori tinggi dapat melewati empat tahapan polya dengan baik dikarenakan subjek telah terlatih mengerjakan soal pemechan masalah; Peserta didik dapat melewati tahapan memahami masalah, menyusun rencana pemecahan masalah serta melaksanakan rencana pemecahan masalah tetapi pada tahapan melaksanakan dan mengecek Kembali,peserta didik kurang  dapat melewati tahapan ini dikarenakan kurangnya Latihan dan cara belajar yang berbeda naun yang lebih mnonjol adalah cara berpikir dalam mengingat Pelajaran yang telah di pelajari serta  kurangnya  kemapuan  dalam menghubungkan ilmu-ilmu yang dipelajari. Subjek dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis dengan kategori tinggi memiliki kemampuan dalam mengkoneksikan ilmu yang telah dipelajari degan baik,serta didukung pula dengan seringnya dilatih menggunakan Latihan soal, sedangkan subjek dengan kemapuan berpikir kritis dengan kategori sedang tidak memiliki kemampuan koneksi matematis, serta  subjek dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis dengan kategori rendah sudah terjebak pada tahap awal proses pemodelan dan tidak dapat sampai pada tahap melaksanakan prosedur matematika ketika menyelesaikan tugas berbasis konteks.

Abstract

This research is an experimental research that aims to determine the effectiveness of using the Visualization, Auditory, Kinesthetic (VAK) learning model by utilizing Dakota media in class IV SD Muhammadiyah 2 Sorong City. This study used two control classes, namely the experimental class and the class. In the experimental class the visualization, auditory, kinesthetic (VAK) learning model was used combined with the use of dakota media, while in the control class the usual/conventional learning model was used. The research design used was The Non-Equivalent Pretest-posttest Control Group Design. The results showed that the application of the VAK learning model by utilizing dakota media effectively increased student learning outcomes in class IVB SD Muhammadiyah 2 Sorong City based on hypothesis testing where the result was a grade The 2-tailed sig t test (P-value) is 0.000 > 0.05 which means Ho is rejected. Based on the results of the screening analysis of learning effectiveness, it shows that teacher activity is in the very good category, student activity and responses are in the good category, and student learning outcomes are in the medium category with an average score obtained after treatment is 70 with an average N- obtained 0.57.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan kesalahan dan faktor penyebab dalam menyelesaikan soal bangun datar segi empat dan segitiga. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII K SMP Negeri 9 Kota Sorong yang berjumlah 15 orang siswa. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes kepribadian, soal tes, dan wawancara. Sedangkan untuk analisis data mengunakan deskriptif kualitatif atau pemaparan. Berdasarkan hasi penelitian  tes kepribadian memperoleh hasil yaitu 4 siswa Melankolis, 3 siswa Singuinis, 4 siswa Plegmatis, dan 4 siswa Koleris. Dari hasil itu 4 siswa Melankolis di jadikan sebagai subjek penelitian. Kesalahan-kesalahan yang di lakukan siswa melankolis dengan analisis penelitian kualitatif berdasarkan prosedur Newman dalam penelitian ini adalah kesalahan kesalahan memahami (comprehension error), kesalahan transformasi (Transformation Error), kesalahan ketrampilan proses (process skil error), kesalahan penulisan jawaban akhir (enconding error). Faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan siswa tipe kepribadian melankolis melakukan kesalahan dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika pada materi bagun datar segi empat dan segitiga adalah tergesa-gesa dalam menjawab soal, lupa, dan lingkungan kelas yang kurang kondusif.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the errors made by Grade XI students of SMA Teknologi Kota Sorong in solving inverse function problems and to identify the factors causing these errors. The approach used is qualitative with a descriptive method, where data were obtained through diagnostic essay tests and observations of 15 students. The analysis results show that students' errors fall into four main categories: conceptual errors at 7%, principal errors at 7%, factual errors, which dominate with a percentage of 47%, and operational errors at 20%. A total of 20% of students were able to answer all questions correctly. The primary causes of errors include a lack of understanding of the basic concept of inverse functions, improper application of formulas, and inaccuracy during calculations. External factors such as ineffective teaching methods and low student motivation further exacerbate the level of errors that occur. This study provides important contributions to the development of more effective learning strategies, helping teachers create a more meaningful mathematics learning process that focuses on students' comprehensive understanding.
