Abstract

The study on the theological perspective of religious leaders upon the Covid-19 pandemic is essential to prevent the Covid-19 transmission. This study aims to portray the theological perspective related to the destiny (al-qada' and al-qadar) of NU and Muhammadiyah leaders in Indonesia during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study is a quantitative-descriptive analysis. The data is collected through the validated and distributed semi-open questionnaires using a google form to the 175 respondents living in Java, Sumatera, Sulawesi, and Kalimantan. This study reveals that the theological perspective of Indonesia's religious leaders upon the Covid-19 pandemic follows Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah theology teaching on fate proposed by al-Ghazali, al-Baqilani, al-Juwaini, and other scholars who have similar views. Moreover, this study also affirms that NU and Muhammadiyah as moderate organizations in the aspect of destiny. Most NU and Muhammadiyah religious leaders have theological views stating that the Covid-19 pandemic is God's ordeal and test, while others believe it is God's torment and punishment.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the Participatory Observation learning model and students' responses to the learning model used in PAI (Pendidikan Agama Islam/Islamic Education). It used qualitative and quantitative methods with a pre-test and post-test nonrandomized group pre-experiment design. The 125 participants who were taken from three public universities, were asked to fill out questionnaires and written interviews. The data were analysed using paired t-test and qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that first experiment got a t-score of 6,798 with a significance of 0,000; t-table score at 51 degrees of freedom and a significant degree of 0.05 in the form of 2.032. Second experiment obtained a t-score of 5.991 with a significance of 0.000; the t-table score at 54 degrees of freedom and 0.05 degrees of significance was 2.046. Third experiment achieved a t-score of 6.424 with a significance of 0.000; the t-table score at 20 degrees of freedom and 0.05 degrees of significance was 2.054. When compared, t-score> t-table or significance score <0.05, which means that the mean score between pre-test and post-test is significantly different. This means that the Participatory Observation learning model can improve students' religious and social character in learning PAI. This result is in line with the respondents' recognition that they have experienced changes in their character in a positive direction. Students stated that the Participatory Observation learning model was fun and very useful, so that it could be used in PAI learning to improve students' character.

Abstract

The development of spatial-based infographics as an interactive learning medium was conducted based on several analyses, including material needs analysis, learner needs analysis, and analysis of previous research conducted by other scholars. The topic of hydrosphere dynamics, specifically rivers, is one of the subjects that requires learning media. This research and development aim to produce a geographical learning media in the form of spatial-based infographics as an interactive learning tool that is suitable for use in the hydrosphere dynamics topic on rivers. The development process was carried out until the media product met the criteria established by the researcher, which include interactivity, practicality, and informativeness. The research and development method used in this study follows the ADDIE model, with modified stages, namely: 1) analysis; 2) design; 3) development; and 4) evaluation. The data in this research and development consists of two types: qualitative and quantitative data. The product produced from this research and development is an interactive spatial-based infographic on the topic of rivers. Validation conducted by media and content experts indicated that the developed media is generally suitable for use in geography education, with a few recommendations for improvement. The evaluation results conducted by students on aspects of appearance, usage, content, and benefits, with 16 questions, yielded a percentage of 92.39%, meaning that the media is highly suitable and can be used as a learning tool in schools. Further recommendations for research and product development include the development of spatial-based infographics as an interactive learning media that can be operated on Android and iOS devices in the form of an app without using MS PowerPoint software.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a valid and reliable instrument for assessing scientific writing skills using an inquiry-based approach to local wisdom dilemma stories. A Design and Development method, based on the Ellis & Levy model, was adopted. The method consisted of six steps: (a) issues; (b) goal setting; (c) model design and development; (d) model testing; (e) model evaluation of the test findings; and (f) application model. Two hundred seventy-three high school students from three Indonesian schools were recruited as the pilot sample. Purposive sampling was used to select the participants. Five experts evaluated the instrument's validity. The Aiken formula for content validity proof yielded a respectable score of 0.86. According to the measurement model reliability evaluation, the instrument is in the dependable category, which comprises Composite Reliability with a value of 0.89. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed the Root Mean Square Error of Approximation value to be 0.043 < 0.08 and the Goodness of Fit Index to be 0.98 > 0, 90 or the declared model by the data obtained in the field and can be used in a wide range of measurements. The findings of this study have important implications for educational assessment and instructional design. Developing a valid and reliable instrument to measure scientific writing skills through an inquiry-based approach using local wisdom dilemma stories provides educators with a culturally relevant and pedagogically sound tool. This instrument can support more accurate evaluations of students' writing competencies and foster critical thinking and contextual understanding in scientific writing instruction at the high school level.

Abstract

The need for more engaging Hajj and Umrah education highlights the limitations of conventional methods, such as lectures and printed manuals, which often lack experiential and spiritual depth. While Virtual Reality (VR) has become increasingly common in education, its use in religious ritual training, particularly for Hajj and Umrah, remains largely underexplored. This study aims to develop immersive learning media that allow users to practice Hajj and Umrah rituals interactively. The development of the VR-Hajj application followed the Research and Development (R&D) model by Lee and Owens, which includes five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The validation process involved experts who assessed the media’s content, usability, and instructional design. Data were analyzed using inter-rater agreement to determine consistency among expert evaluations, with results showing a high level of agreement. The Content Validity Index (CVI) was also used to assess overall validity, yielding a strong score of 0.83. Experts gave the VR-Hajj media an average rating of 91.54%, confirming its effectiveness and instructional relevance. These findings support VR-Hajj as a promising tool for improving Hajj and Umrah preparation through immersive Islamic learning. The study also proposes a future framework integrating VR and metaverse technologies to enhance accessibility and engagement. To expand its impact, further research should explore strategic partnerships with Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) to help deliver VR-based religious education more widely and inclusively

Abstract

The inclusion of the natural environment and spiritual values in traditional healing mantras has been part of the lives of traditional communities in various cultures around the world, including the Malay community in Karimunting village, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. This study aims to describe the elements of the natural environment and spiritual values in the healing mantras of the Malay community in Karimunting Village by applying Greg Garrard’s ecocriticism approach. The data in this study was collected through observation and in-depth interviews with three belian in Karimunting village. The data obtained was subsequently recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The research findings reveal that there are ten healing mantras practiced by the belian of the Malay community in Karimunting Village. Each mantra functions not only as a medium of healing but also as a representation of the interconnectedness between humans, the natural environment, and spiritual forces. Elements of the natural environment are reflected in the use of components such as leaves, water, wood, stones, wind, and animals, which are positioned as active entities possessing healing energy and symbols of ecological balance. Meanwhile, the dimension of spirituality is manifested through religious diction, such as the invocation of the names of Allah and the Prophet Muhammad, underscoring the belief that recovery ultimately originates from Divine power. This research contributes not only as an inventory of oral literature and local wisdom of the Malay community in utilizing their natural environment but also as a reference for similar research in the future.
