Abstract

Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a major public health problem in tropical regions, including Indonesia, due to high morbidity rates and environmental factors that support mosquito breeding. This study aimed to determine the influence of nurses and teachers in health education on changes in dengue prevention behavior in schools. Methods: This research used a single-group pretest-posttest experimental design with 90 respondents selected purposively. Changes in knowledge and behavior were assessed before and after the intervention. The intervention involved health education on dengue prevention, focusing on the 3M Plus method: draining, covering, recycling, and using larvicide. Results: The results showed a significant increase in the proportion of respondents with good preventive behavior, rising from 15.6% in the pretest to 91.1% in the posttest (p-value = 0.000). This indicates that health education significantly improves public knowledge and encourages positive behavioral changes in dengue prevention. Conclusion: Health education significantly improves dengue prevention behavior, raising good practices from 15.6% to 91.1%. Sustained community involvement and policy support are crucial for lasting impact.

Abstract

Optimal breast milk production is essential to support the growth and health of infants. One method that can increase breast milk production is through massage stimulation. Oxywich Massage, a combination of oxytocin massage and Woolwich massage, is believed to increase prolactin hormone levels that play a role in breast milk production. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of OM on prolactin hormone levels and breast milk production in normal postpartum mothers. This study used a true experimental design with a randomized pretest-posttest with control group design. The sample consisted of normal postpartum mothers on days 2 to 6 who were divided into intervention and control groups. The intervention group received OM twice a day for five days, while the control group did not receive any intervention. Prolactin hormone levels were measured using the ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) method, while breast milk production was measured with a standard measuring cup after pumping. Statistical analysis showed that there was a significant increase in prolactin hormone levels and breast milk production in the intervention group compared to the control group (p <0.05). Further analysis indicated that the OM intervention had a positive effect after controlling for confounding variables such as breastfeeding frequency, parity, and nutritional intake. Oxywich Massage was proven to be effective in increasing prolactin hormone levels and breast milk production in normal postpartum mothers. This technique can be recommended as a non-pharmacological method in supporting successful breastfeeding.

Abstract

Stunting remains a global and national health issue. In Seluma Regency, the prevalence of stunting increased from 21.1% (2022) to 24.4% (2023), with Sukaraja District contributing the highest number of cases. One strategy for addressing this issue is empowering health cadres as agents of change in education and early detection of stunting among pregnant women. The general objective of this community service activity was to improve the knowledge of cadres and pregnant women regarding early detection of stunting risk during pregnancy as an effort to reduce stunting cases in Cahaya Negeri and Sidoluhur Villages, Sukaraja District, Seluma Regency. The activities were carried out in these villages from January to October 2025. The implementation methods included preparation, execution, and evaluation stages. The main activities consisted of cadre training using lectures, group discussions, role plays, demonstrations, and early stunting detection simulations. Evaluation was conducted through pre- and post-tests. Empowering cadres to care about stunting among pregnant women significantly increased their knowledge and skills in stunting prevention. The average cadre knowledge score increased from 80.75 (pre-test) to 92.5 (post-test), an increase of 11.75 points. The program also resulted in the establishment of stunting care cadre organizations in both villages, serving as a forum for continuous discussion and education. This empowerment program effectively enhanced cadres’ capacity in early detection of stunting risk during pregnancy and is expected to continue with support from the local government and health centers.
