Abstract

This study aims to improve the students' physics learning outcomes using Macromedia flash learning media. This research is a classroom action research. The research subjects were students of class XI MIA 7 SMAN 2 Bantul, consisting of 30 people (20 Females and 10 Males). Data collection was carried out in three cycles, with three meetings each. The research stages include planning, implementing the action, observing, and reflecting. The results showed an increase in students’ learning outcomes after using Macromedia flash learning media. The percentage of students’ who achieved the minimum completeness criteria in cycle 1 was 83.3%. In Cycle 2, the percentage improved to 93.3%, and in cycle 3 became 96.7%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of Macromedia Flash can improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

One of the problems in learning physics is the weak ability of students to solve problems. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a preliminary study to recommend appropriate learning models. The type of research used is survey research. As many as 23 students were involved as primary data sources to determine the need for problem-solving skills. Respondents came from class XI of one of the state high schools in Yogyakarta. Problem-solving ability data was collected using 16 survey items formatted in the Google Form. Data analysis was performed using Rasch modeling. The analysis results show that there are limitations in students' problem-solving skills or abilities. Based on the survey results, it is recommended that the Problem base learning or guided inquiry model can be an alternative to optimizing students' problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

Introduction: The gender paradox can be described as when violence against boys is considered minor, while violence against girls is considered oppression. What are the experiences of psychological dating violence among urban adolescents in Indonesia, and how can these be evaluated using Rasch modelling? Methods: This study used a cross-sectional survey approach with 114 junior high school students in private schools in Yogyakarta. The instrument used was the 10-PDV. The psychological violence paradox in adolescent dating was analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test and Differential Item Functioning (DIF). Gender paradoxes were assessed based on p-value, DIF contrast, Rasch-Welch t, and Mantel-Haenszel Prob. Results: The results of the study indicate the normalization of unhealthy behavior among urban adolescents in dating relationships, with a prevalence of psychological violence exceeding 50%. On the one hand, the percentage of female adolescents reporting psychological violence was higher than that of male adolescents. On the other hand, adolescent boys reported experiencing psychological violence with a higher severity level compared to adolescent girls. Conclusion: These findings indicate a gender paradox in urban adolescent psychological dating violence.

Abstract

Analyzing students' individual cognitive ability levels has significant urgency in the context of modern education. Therefore, this study aims to analyse students' cognitive abilities using Rasch modelling. This research is a one-shot case study model on 23 students of class XI MIPA who took Thermodynamics material. Students' cognitive abilities were measured using 10 multiple choice questions after going through the problem-based learning (PBL) process. Students' cognitive ability data were analysed using Rasch modelling approach with a combination of Logit Value of Person (LVP) and Wright map techniques. Cognitive ability was assessed based on gender demographics. The results showed that female students tend to have higher cognitive abilities than male students in the context of thermodynamic problem solving. The implication of this research show that the application of the problem-based Learning (PBL) model can increase the effectiveness of physics learning and facilitate the development of students' critical thinking and analytical skills more optimally.

Abstract

Not all teachers have the ability to develop diagnostic instruments for misconception. Meanwhile, there is an urgent need to diagnose student misconceptions. Therefore, this research aims to carry out the process of adapting misconception-diagnostic instruments to wave and vibration materials. This study used a cross-sectional quantitative survey method. The adaptation process was conducted with 306 state high school students taking wave and vibration classes. Respondents were selected using convenience sampling techniques. 4WADI (Four-tier Wave and vibration Diagnostic Instrument) was translated into Indonesian, consulted with language experts, and assessed by material and evaluation experts to produce an instrument appropriate to the Indonesian cultural context. Before the empirical test was carried out, I-4WADI (Indonesian et al. and vibration Diagnostic Instrument) was tested for readability on 35 students. As a result, the I-4WADI has excellent readability. The validation results of six experts were analyzed using the Aiken V technique. A total of 25 items were used for expert validation. Empirical validation data were analyzed using the Rasch model. Review empirical validation from the aspects of item fit and unidimensionality. The analysis results show that I-4WADI has good quality based on validity and reliability. The infit MnSq values ranged from 0.81 to 1.40, and the outfit MnSq values ranged from 0.71 to 1.36. The instrument reliability value is 0.98. So, I-4WADI can be applied to high school students in Indonesia. These findings have practical implications for teachers who wish to diagnose students' misconceptions about waves and vibration.

Abstract

Assessing Presentation Skills in STEAM Project-Based Learning: A Longitudinal Analysis Using Rasch Modeling. Project presentation is a crucial element in PjBL learning, as it allows students to demonstrate their understanding of the material studied and the ability to convey project ideas and results effectively. Objectives: This study aims to analyse students' presentation performance in teaching using the Project-based Learning approach. Methods: The type of research used is a quasi-experimental design with a time series approach. Respondents involved in this study were 22 prospective elementary school teacher students. The groups assessed were randomly selected using a lottery system. The instrument used to assess group presentation skills consists of 11 items, and each item uses a 5-point Likert rating scale. Presentation performance data was analysed using the Logit Value of Item (LVI) technique combined with the Wright map. Findings: Group presentation performance experienced variations in improvement over time, with some skills showing an increasing trend and others showing a decreasing trend. Conclusion: The implication of this study, in terms of presentation performance, is that although there is variation in the improvement of student presentation skills over time, analysis using Rasch modelling can provide greater insight into the factors that influence presentation quality and help identify areas that require improvement in Project-based Learning teaching. Keywords: logit value of item, presentation skills, rasch model, STEAM, wright map.

Abstract

The development of a Radioactive Decay learning module for the Atomic and Nuclear physics course at Undergraduate Physics Education Study Program. The Atomic and Nuclear Physics course is one of the important and interesting subjects to study in the Physics Education Bachelor's study program. Still, learning has not progressed as expected because students find it difficult to understand abstract material, including radioactive decay. Therefore, learning media is needed as a tool for independent learning, and one type of appropriate learning media is a module. Research has been carried out to develop a learning module on radioactive decay in Indonesian that is suitable for use to support independent learning and to determine the level of student user satisfaction with the module developed. This research used the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) development model. Before being tested with users, the feasibility of the module was validated using a questionnaire instrument by two material expert lecturers. An average feasibility level of 84.2% was obtained, which is included in the very feasible category. In the trial, the learning module was distributed as a PDF file to 25 students as a sample of users, and a user satisfaction level of 86.0% was obtained, which is in the very satisfactory category. The research results show that the module developed is suitable for independent learning.

Abstract

This study uses a quantitative bibliometric approach to map trends, collaborations, and research directions in the field of technology-based misconception remediation in science education. Data were extracted from the Scopus database using keyword searches related to misconceptions, educational technology, and science learning from 2000 to 2024. After filtering, 280 documents were analyzed using VOSviewer to explore publication patterns, author collaboration networks, and conceptual connections through co-authorship, co-word, and co-citation analysis. Network map visualizations provide an overview of key actors, popular topics, and emerging thematic clusters. The study results indicate significant growth in publications and international collaboration, while also identifying potential research gaps. These findings are expected to serve as a strategic reference for researchers and policymakers in directing technology-based pedagogical research and innovation to address misconceptions in science education.
