Abstract

The lack of records about the involvement and contribution of women in Sufism texts cannot be used as an excuse that women have a small role and position in the development and dissemination of Sufism teachings, doctrines and practices. So far, the well-known female Sufis, namely Rabi'ah al-Adawiyah (717-801) and Aishah al-Ba'uniyyah (c. 1456-1517), are two big names who prove that women have equal opportunities in spiritual attainment. Many researchers discuss female Sufis but focus on the eastern world and parts of India, only a few researchers have written about female Sufis in the West, therefore the authors are interested in discussing female Sufis in the West. This research is a library research. The author uses a literature review with the data sources used in this paper are secondary data originating from the literature such as books, journals, articles, and various sources that are relevant to the theme of the discussion in this paper.. The results of the study describe female Sufisin the contemporary era such as Hajjah Amina Adil and Hajjah Naziha Adil with their organizations engaged in philanthropy. Then another female Sufi is Nahid Angha who is known as one of the founders of the International Sufi Woman Organization, a world Sufi women's organization. This organization is concerned with peace programs and women's empowerment. The next female Sufi, namely Eva de Vitray in the path of Sufism, Eva de Vitray-Meyerovitch or Hawwa Hanim, took allegiance to the murshid of the Qadiriyah order from Morocco, Sheikh Hamzah al-Qadiri al-Boutchichi. Eva is also connected with Sheikh Khaled Bentounes, a murshid of the Syadziliyah-Alawiyahtarekat who lives in France

Abstract

Abstract

Post-colonial states in Southeast Asia have deep roots in their history of civilization and culture. Its strength lies not in its purity of identity but in its ability to be a hybrid of the various waves of civilization and culture that make it cosmopolitan. This character becomes the basis for analyzing the ability of post-colonial states to accommodate religion, especially the strengthening of Islamism throughout the formation of the nation-state. This article puts the experience of moderating the threat of disintegration in that capability. The question to be answered is how do these states moderate the threat of disintegration related to the strengthening of Islamism? Through literature study, it can be seen that there are three threats of disintegration related to Islamism, namely first, the struggle for territorial sovereignty in Thailand and the Philippines; second, the movement with the vision of an Islamic state in Indonesia; and third, the establishment of the Jamaah Islamiyah caliphate covering Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines. The ability to accommodate through religious moderation occurs in three complex political and democratic processes. First, moderation through the process of integration of the nation-state as in Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines; Second, moderation through the democratization process in almost all countries in the archipelagic region; and third, moderation by civil society in Indonesia and Malaysia. Nevertheless, the challenges of Islamism, especially those related to the network of transnational Islamic ideologies, still haunt states in Southeast Asia. This article suggests that the government and civil society work together to increase the state's role in religious moderation capabilities that are in line with global dynamics.

Abstract

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has implications for the birth of armed groups that continue to be polarized within Palestine, such as the PLO, Hamas, Fatah, and others to the PNA. However, one group that exists and has a strong resonance in the Islamic world is Hamas. The resonance also reached Indonesia. This study will examine the polarization of Hamas and its military activities which are considered to represent the interests of Palestinian Muslims. As a result, this has a snowball effect by generating bigger and stronger support which ultimately affects the issue of Indonesia's national defense., This study uses a qualitative method with an analysis of geopolitical theory. The results showed that the polarization that occurred was caused by the ideological differences between Hamas and Fatah and the different points of view between Hamas members. Hamas activities in Palestine have no effect on the issue of Indonesian defense because the forms of response are limited to humanitarian solidarity and equality of belief.

Abstract

The Gulf region in 2017 experienced a diplomatic crisis that was quite complicated so that it could be said as a regional conflict which was manifested in the form of a blockade and the closure of diplomatic relations between them. This crisis mainly involves Saudi and its allies to blockade Qatar in various ways. This conflict made Kuwait emerge as a mediator trying to restore the diplomatic situation in the Gulf region back to normal. By using literature studies and qualitative research methods in analyzing the data, it can be seen that Kuwait succeeded in neutralizing and slowly returning to the situation in the Gulf region to open the blockade and re-establish diplomatic relations with Qatar. So it can be concluded that Kuwait formed a narrative of “solidarity” and “stability” to reconcile the conflict situation.

Abstract

ROA is a ratio that serves to assess a company's ability to make a profit. The amount of ROA can be influenced by many things such as NPF, FDR, and CAR. This study aims to find the effect of NPF, FDR, and CAR on ROA at Islamic Commercial Banks (BUS) in 2016-2021. This research uses a two-stage analysis. The first stage will use multiple linear analysis with the Ordinary Least Square method to find the influence between variables, then the second stage will examine the ROA scheme in Islamic banking, and whether it is in accordance with Islamic principles. The results showed that NPF had a significant negative impact on ROA, FDR had an insignificant positive impact on ROA, and CAR had a significant positive impact on ROA. The results of the calculation of the coefficient of determination show that NPF, FDR, and CAR affect ROA by 78.78% while the rest is explained by other variables that are not taken into account in the study. In addition, the ROA business scheme is in accordance with existing Sharia aspects because nothing is violated in Sharia principles, and the existence of DPS is one of the factors the researchers believe that this business model is in accordance with Sharia values. This research is useful to determine the effect between ROA variables and to find out whether business schemes with ROA are in accordance with Sharia.

Abstract

Abstract The stages of adolescent development are generally at the age of high school students who are equipped with developmental tasks to have a good self-identity. Previous research mentioned that there was a public opinion that one form of achieving successful students' self-identity is that they succeed in becoming students at the State Higher Education Universities (PTN). In order to meet these perfect expectations, some students try to be istiqomah in learning by following tutoring program outside of school. By using quantitative research and data collection using purposive random sampling, this research tries to see how the relationship between istiqomah learning and perfectionism of high school students participating in tutoring and trying to see the effect of self-compassion as a moderator variable. Data obtained from 90 respondents showed that there is a significant relationship between Istiqomah learning and student perfectionism (r = 0.417, p = 0.00), there is a negative relationship between perfectionism and self-compassion (r = -0.329, p = 0.002), while self-compassion as a moderator has no significant effect on the relationship between the other two variables (Int_1 t= -0.3052, p = 0.7609).

Abstract

Face veil has become an issue often discussed nowadays, including in Nusantara. The face veil is often rejected or discriminated against because it is considered part of the seclusion system (purdah) that limits the role of women and is not by the culture of Nusantara. This study aims to describe the face veil and purdah traditions in the history of Nusantara and analyze whether the face veil in Nusantara is part of purdah (seclusion). This research uses a descriptive-analytical method and a qualitative approach. Data are collected by literature review and online interviews. The results indicate that the veil and purdah were once part of the history of Nusantara. The face veil is known in Malay culture as tudung lingkup, in the Ocu tradition as maroguok, and the Mbojo tradition as rimpu colo. It is concluded that wearing the veil is only sometimes identic with the domestication of women's roles. It depends on the cultural conditions adopted by each community. In addition to the domestic role, the role that is also dominant for veiled women is the productive role.
