Abstract

This research discusses the relevance of the thought of Muhammad Abduh, a reformist Islamic intellectual, to the policies and work programs of the Indonesian government. Muhammad Abduh is known as a figure who championed the reinterpretation of Sharia principles to respond to the challenges of modernity, focusing on social justice, waqf reform, Islamic financial systems, and education. His thinking provides an important foundation for the development of a modern Islamic economy that is inclusive and equitable. In the context of Indonesian government policy, the 2024-2029 work program that carries the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045 integrates the values of Sharia economics and social justice in line with Muhammad Abduh's ideas. Programs such as strengthening the Sharia economy, optimizing ZISWAF (zakat, infaq, sadaqah and waqf) funds, and alleviating extreme poverty reflect the practical implementation of Muhammad Abduh's ideas. The government also emphasizes economic transformation, halal industry development, increasing Sharia financial inclusion, and Islamic values-based education to strengthen global competitiveness. This study uses a descriptive-analytical method to evaluate the relationship between Muhammad Abduh's thought and public policy in Indonesia. The analysis shows that Muhammad Abduh's ideas are not only relevant in addressing national development challenges, but also provide concrete solutions in creating social justice, community empowerment, and strengthening the Sharia economic system. This research also offers practical recommendations on how Muhammad Abduh's Islamic economic principles can be applied more broadly to support sustainable and inclusive development in Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract

DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 106/DSN-MUI/X/2016 regarding halal tourism is a significant reference in Indonesia. This research analyzes the authenticity of the hadiths within this fatwa using a qualitative method with a takhrij al-hadith approach, focusing on the quality of the sanad (chain of narrators) and matan (text). The primary data sources are the DSN-MUI fatwa, hadith collections, and narrator biographies (rijal al-hadith) such as Tahzib al-Tahzib and Tahzib al-Kamal. Findings indicate that two hadiths narrated by Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Baihaqi are classified as dhaif (weak) but may be used for fadha'il al-a'mal (virtues of deeds) if their weaknesses are not severe. Conversely, a hadith narrated by Abd al-Razzaq is deemed sahih (authentic). This study contributes by performing takhrij from Mashadir al-Asliyah (primary sources) on the hadiths of the halal tourism fatwa, an underexplored area.

Abstract

Social justice is a fundamental principle in Islam, encompassing the regulation of inheritance law to ensure fair wealth distribution, particularly for women. Although inheritance rules in the Quran and Hadith grant rights to women, challenges such as patriarchal dominance, lack of legal awareness, and evolving roles of women in families often hinder the implementation of justice. Using the maqasid al-shariah framework as a theoretical approach, this study aims to analyze Islamic inheritance law's role in ensuring women's social justice. The methodology employed is a qualitative approach based on library research. It examines various Islamic legal sources, such as the Quran and Hadith, to understand women's inheritance rights and their obstacles in practice. Furthermore, this study explores solutions through ijtihad, hibah (gifting), and wasiyyah (bequests) to address these challenges. The findings indicate five key challenges women face in achieving social justice in inheritance law and four practical solutions to overcome these issues. This study seeks to contribute original insights into Islamic inheritance law's role in addressing women's social justice issues through the maqasid al-shariah approach.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of cybermedia on urban tasawuf (Islamic mysticism) in Indonesia, focusing on its adaptation to digital platforms and the emergence of a digital religious atmosphere. A qualitative approach grounded in constructivist and interpretivist paradigms was employed. Data were collected through scholarly literature and digital sources, and analyzed thematically to examine key themes, including typologies of urban tasawuf (orthodox, marginal, modern Sufism fellowship) and their interactions with digital media. The findings reveal that urban tasawuf integrates seamlessly with digital technology, enhancing accessibility and fostering spiritual communities. For instance, the tarekat Qudusiyah uses Zoom for dzikr, and the Shift movement integrates youth culture with tasawuf. This adaptation has facilitated the emergence of a uniquely Indonesian expression of digital religion. Urban tasawuf reflects a transformative shift in religious practices through digital adaptation. However, challenges such as one-directional engagement and diluted sacredness pose risks to the depth of spiritual practices. Future research should explore specific phenomena within the paradigm of digital religion, focusing on long-term impacts on religious identity and spirituality.

Abstract

Indonesia, with a Muslim majority population of 87.4% and a growing trend of halal lifestyle, presents a significant opportunity for the growth of Islamic financing companies. However, the market share of Islamic financing companies remains stagnant at 5-6%, despite a significant increase in public awareness of halal products. This study aims to develop product and distribution channel innovations to enhance the competitiveness of Islamic financing companies. The research focuses on refinancing products based on the al-bai’ contract within the framework of musyarakah mutanaqishah (MMQ), which are flexible and relevant to the needs of millennials and MSMEs. Additionally, the study proposes innovations in distribution channels through the integration of financing simulations into corporate websites and mobile applications. The research methodology employs a descriptive qualitative approach, using primary data from DSN-MUI fatwas and secondary data from OJK reports. The findings indicate that Islamic refinancing innovation with al-bai’ in the MMQ framework can provide a practical solution to current limitations of Islamic products while supporting broader Islamic financial inclusion. Digital distribution channels will enhance accessibility and convenience for target markets. Implementing these recommendations is expected to expand the market share of Islamic financing companies and address the evolving needs of society

Abstract

Society frequently perceives women as vulnerable and subordinate to regulations. In the traditional environment of Saudi Arabia, women experience restricted mobility and social engagement. The notable distinction from other nations is in the enforcement of regulations and cultural practices that discriminate based on gender and uphold male guardianship laws. Consequently, the cultural environment is perceived as hostile towards women. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia's global reputation on gender equality is very negative. Saudi Arabia seems to have misunderstood perspectives on women's human rights in its policy-making. The interpretation of the Koran and hadith must be scrutinized if it is unjust to women. Saudi ladies are beginning to perceive a promising future for him. Crown Prince Muhammad exerted significant efforts to implement substantial reforms. Diverse reforms, including gender equality, were implemented to portray a moderate and amicable Islam. Saudi women have transformed their societal presence, beginning to embrace their rights and responsibilities in the public domain
